EmilyJean is the very BEST! – I love my haircuts and wouldn't go to anyone else. I found her by accident when I stopped into Bishops in the Pearl. What a stroke of luck! I followed her to Rootz and her prices are very reasonable.
EmilyJean knows how to cut your hair to the shape of your face and to your requests. I didn't have to say much since she got the look I was describing immediately. She never cut more off than I needed and always has shaped it to allow me to grow it out longer.
Now I live in Seattle and will travel to see her bc I haven't and don't think I'll find anyone here as good as her. I met a few stylists and all of them complimented me on my cut. I've never felt prettier either since I finally have a stylist that understands what works for me.
Plus, she's a sweetheart that you'll love talking to while she makes you beautiful!
Emily McCauley – Don't forget Emily! I followed her to Rootz from that hip place in the Pearl that I can't remember the name of. Emily has given me my best haircuts ever and she's great with color, too! She has a sweet personality, is always on time, fun to chat with. She also offers advice and new ideas when it's time for a change.
Rootz is centrally located near the Galleria parking lot so the parking doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
Call Emily and see for yourself!
Great stylists!!! – Kims salon Rootz is amazing. She has been doing my hair for about 10 years now. I have followed her from beauty school to her owning her own salon. I am very proud of her. Her salon is a wonderful place to spend the day getting pampered. I recommend it to everyone!! Friendly and fun atmosphere.
Kim has been styling my hair for almost ten years now, and I have yet to receive anything but a superb cut from her. She is also pleasant, personable, and very professional.
I need not remind anyone that nothing lasts longer than a bad haircut, except an IRS audit. However, no one will ever receive anthing but a superlative result at Rootz. It's time to bid adieu to Supercuts and your neighborhood barber shop and experience a truly topflight salon.
Kelley Shannon Rocks! – No matter how good you think your current stylist is, Kelley is better! I am an attorney by day and a musician by night. Getting the right "look" that fits both worlds was always difficult before Kelley started doing my hair.
After one recent appointment two women I was having lunch with commented that I looked much younger and wondered aloud if I had taken a vacation or lost weight. Hey, any haircut that makes people think you are younger and have lost weight is a great haircut in my opinion!
I have recommended her services to two female vocalists that I perform with and they both went in and were very enthusiastic about her services. Both of them are appropriately very concerned about their appearance, and Kelley was able to deliver exactly what they wanted.
I agree with the comments of HTalbot and Ann Hodges that Kelley is amazing and will rock your hair!
Very unprofessional! – I feel Portland needs to know how rediculously bad I was treated by the staff at Rootz hair salon. I was approached by KELLY SHANNON who told me she studied in NY and really wanted to do my hair at "her" new salon. It was a good offer but I told her my time was VERY limited. She promised to confirm with me the eve. before the appt. and I never heard from her. I texted her the morning of the appt. to make sure it was still on and got no response. So when I get to the salon (hour drive from Vancouver and $8 bucks for parking) she never showed. The staff ignored me for an hour and then finally called her around noon. She sounded like she was still asleep or hungover, claimed she tried to call me and figured I wasn't coming. She had been calling the wrong # and then refused to come in to do my hair because she had other clients. Thanks for wasting my time and money. That's what you get for trying help someone get their business going. Good bye customer service.....................!
Kelly Shannon is amazing. I love my new hair. I can't stop talking about it or playing with it. I loved it so hard, that I left the salon wishing I had somewhere spectacular to go. Oh, and I didn't wash it for probably 4 days because I didn't want it to move - sorry friends and family. Go see Kelly. She'll rock your hair.
Knock out stylist makes you look a million bucks! :) – Kelly Shannon from Rootz hair salon did amazing job! I was excited about knock out hair coloring and cut and highly recommend her modern, creative, artistic abilities to make you look gorgeous! :)
Best Hair Dresser EVER – I couldn't wait to write this review. Michelle Noll is THE BEST hair dresser! Now let me give you a little history. Michelle has been doing my hair for over 20yrs. I started going to her when she was in beauty school. I have followed her every where she has been. I live in Washington 8yrs. now and I tried to go to other people here. As you can guess that didn't work out because NO ONE could do my hair as good or even close to what Michelle does! She is the best colorist ever! Michelle did my hair (an updo) for my wedding 7yrs. ago and I wll never forget how beautiful my hair was and how many compliments I received on one of the most important days of my life! Thankyou Michelle! I now make the journey every 4-6 weeks to Portland to have Michelle do my hair she is the ONLY ONE I trust with my hair ! Do yourself a favor and go see Michelle you wont regret it!!!!!!
Best Salon in Portland – One of the owner's has been doing my hair for almost 6 years! I absolutely love Kim! I've been dying my hair since I was 13 and I've never stuck with a stylist for more than a year because I love changing my hair style/color and I've never found someone who could help me pull off dark or light hair and keep my hair healthy, until I met Kim! She is great at processing all colors/styles! I have a very round face and she's been able to cut short and long hair on me to help bring out my features and look extremely flattering. Booking can sometimes be a problem, if you want to book with her you need to call at least 2-3 weeks in advance depending on the day of the week & time you would like to book. However, if she is all booked up, she has a handful of hair stylists at the salon to recommend. Kim opened up Rootz only a few years ago, but the setting is fabulous! They have all the guilty pleasure reading you would want and you can sip on water, coffee, or wine while you get pampered! Prices are also extremely reasonable for the downtown Portland area.
