Amazing work and great communication! We recently used A Cut Above for our siding remodel. We had EIFS siding, so it was a complete removal of that and new application of a cedar shingles. The house looks amazing, thanks in no small part to their attention to design details. Also, A Cut Above was there communicating every step of the way-answering questions and concerns thoroughly and immediately. We would recommend them to anyone considering new siding!
Everyone with A Cut Above is extremely friendly and helpful. Our condo HOA was dealing with a construction defect lawsuit and the bid from our eventual project manager, Chad, was competitive and very comprehensive, so we were always informed. The work done was amazing and our units are better than new! The guys who worked on my building were so fantastic—they were always willing to move their gear when I needed to leave, and even helped me unload some new furniture. Special thanks to Vasily, Viktor, Andre, Sam, and Vladimir! Nanette was also really great to keep me informed about everything!?
Great job as promised – I knew I had to go with this company when I called them on Sunday morning at 0700 to confirm my appointment, and a live person answered the phone. All they guys I worked with were professional and polite. The job was done as promised and is beautiful - I had half of the siding replaced on my house and garage. I would certainly recommend this company.
Great company, used them recently, and they were all covered in LIC bond and espically WORKMAN's comp, great company to use
Excellent Source for Siding, Window, & Door Replacement – We hired A Cut Above Exteriors to replace our siding, windows, doors, and install brick on the front of our 1970’s one-level home. During the bid it was suggested that we enlarge the size of our bedroom windows to give the home an updated look and I am so glad we did. It’s brighter and definitely felt more like a new home not just an older home with new windows and siding. Every step along the way was positive for us. The installers were great to work with, timely and everything was kept cleaned up around our house during the project. We were so pleased we also hired them a second time to perform similar work on our rental house with the same great satisfaction. I would recommend A Cut Above Exteriers to anyone looking to replace windows and/or siding.
Good for replacing, not for installing – No job is too small. At first we were very happy with the staff, including the salesman, project manager, and installers. However, some details (both major and minor) were overlooked during the course of the project that we feel a competent and professional contractor would not overlook. Most glaring was the lack of foresight regarding the plumbing where the new window was to go. Obviously without the architectural plans it is impossible to know exactly where pipes are located inside the walls. However, as the master bathroom is directly above the wall in question and an external faucet is on the side of the house near the new opening, plumbing should have at least been discussed and possibly included in the estimate. As it stood, we were caught by surprise and the result was an additional ~15% increase in the price of the project.
Communication and attention to detail were also two major recurring problems. The job was originally slated for 3 days but took, on and off, almost two months to complete. One of the main reasons for this was a breakdown in communication between sales, project manager, and construction. For example, texturing of the drywall was included in our contract, yet the drywaller was not scheduled on the assumption that we were hiring a professional painter to do paint the walls (we painted them ourselves). Consequently, a service request had to be placed for the drywaller to come to our home, resulting in more time taken off work. Additionally, we had to request a return service to caulk around the interior trim of every opening.
A final inspection was never performed by the project manager. We found out later that the sales consultant had requested he do the final walkthrough himself but that was never communicated to us. So, when the job was finished, no one returned to the site until we asked whether a final inspection would take place.
Every person we dealt with was kind, courteous, and patient with our questions and requests. Yet we were very disappointed and disillusioned by the general lack of professionalism and need for excessive leg work on our part in order to finish the job properly.
They are excellent at replacing windows and doors. Installation of new openings, on the other hand, left much to be desired.
Best windows and residing company – After reading the negative review of A Cut Above Exteriors I felt compelled to write a review of this company after just hiring them to install new Andersen windows, install Hardiplank siding and paint my NE Portland bungalow. The experience? In one word: AWESOME. The products are great and the personnel even better.
Anyone who has had a bad experience with any sort of remodel knows how stressful it is to turn over your house to to people you don't know. Well you need not worry about that when you hire A Cut Above Exteriors. You will be amazed how easy it is to see the product, get information about the product and its installation process. My sales consultant, Amy Hand, the window installation team , the siding installation team and finally the painting team were honest, friendly, experienced, knowledgeable, easily contacted, neat and 100% dedicated to doing a perfect job.You are completely in the care of forthright project managers and crew chiefs who provide total customer care from the beginning to the completion of your project. They always keep you informed of scheduling dates and will answer all questions and concerns promptly and with great satisfaction. It's amazing how well they coordinate all phases of your project so there is very little delay or disruption in the completion of your project. Because they are so in charge of everything you don't have to be wondering if people are going to show up or not. Believe me, they will and usually by 7:30 in the morning and working non stop through the entire day. They don't leave you with messes either. And every little detail is taken care of before they and you determine that the job has been done successfully to your satisfaction.
Once when I asked the siding manager if something could be changed he said " We'll do whatever it takes to make you happy. This is your house." This spirit is ever present with everyone at A Cut Above Exteriors. They really do everything to make you happy. It's the truth.
Steer Clear – My wife and I agree that this was the worst experience that we have ever had working with any kind of vendor. Lack of communication, poor/delayed scheduling, lack of commitment, chronic rework and revisits and needing to complete the work yourself were just the low-lights of the experience. Their highly acclaimed installation and customer service standards left a lot to be desired. But, they have a very snappy billing department if you find that a plus.
