Every morning except Tuesdays (closed) they make handmade soups, quiche, and toasty croissant sandwiches.
Nice Breakfast, Comfortable Spot – Gave Muddy's a try this morning, and enjoyed it very much. My wife had the French toast and I had their version of huevos rancheros. Good decaf coffee, free refills, and the food was very good, the service was prompt, and the food came out hot and the prices are very reasonable. No big excitement, but who wants that with breakfast? Nice place. I'll go back.
A Portland Favorite – Every time I go there I am greeted with a smile, they give amazing service, and they say good bye. For me... that makes going out for breakfast or coffee wonderful!
Oh... and the food there is terrific!
Amazing Food, and even Amazing-y-er Service (hehe) !!!!!!! – Home away from home! i have eaten here 3 different times...and its off the hissy fo rizzzy (that is "off the hook for real" for all you squares) the service is amazing...i wanted to become bff with everybody that works there. I have always gone with the specials, and it has never done me wrong, although the burrito has been calling my name..maybe next time. For breaky a week ago... I had croissant souffle with veggies, cheese, and lovin'.... today i had a ham sammy with swiss on marbled rye, with this amazing avocado, pesto-ish spead...umm yah bomb! Check it out, you wont be sorry!
If your looking for a quiet, unassuming cafe...this is it! – I have been here a few times and it is quickly becoming a favorite. The food is really good. Mmmm...tofu sandwich. The breakfast options are yummy, too. I do love a place with self serve coffee, no waiting for refills. The people that work here are down-to-earth and not bothersome. If you are looking for a fancy, high-end experience. This is not the place. Just regular, nice people maiking good food.
Choose somewhere else... – Muddys has mediocre food and a general annoying sense of humor. Your menu is not funny or even slightly cute.
Great Service, Great Food - Check It Out – I stumbled upon Muddy's while exploring Mississippi Ave and couldn't believe how tasty, fresh, delicious and affordable the food was. The fact that most items are around $6 makes this more than a must try. In other neighborhoods food like this would easily go for $8-$10. If you're not careful you'll find yourself becoming a regular.
If you're tired of the crowds in the other neighborhoods you should consider checking Muddy's out. They even have a couple of shaded tables outside so that you can enjoy these beautiful summer months. I've tried many haunts in a variety of neighborhoods (NW, Pearl, Hawthorne, Freemont) and if you're in the mood for a relaxed comfortable experience with attentive friendly staff, look no further.
Great food; cozy atmosphere; affordable – I love the Mississippi neighborhood, and Muddy's is my favorite place to visit for lunch after a long afternoon of shopping. The cozy atmosphere and made-from-scratch food is really great. It's really nice to go to a restaurant and get good-sized portions of tasty food that is completely affordable. Check this place out. You won't be sorry.
