Really not worth it – I worked at Doc's for several months roughly a year back. During my time there it really seemed as though the owner had no clue as to what was going on there, and rarely visited the bar, instead, leaving two incompitant individuals in charge as managers, and his son, a failed business man, as the official general manager. There were times when the owner's son would tell the band on Tuesday that they could not pay them. The owners are in the habit of blaming employees for the bar's problems, but are unwilling to fix the problems that only they have the power to fix. The bar tenders would frequently drink while behind the bar and were notorious for pocketing tip money and short changing bar backs. The bar was always filthy, most notably the carpet, which was so filthy that one would quite literally stick to the floor in some places. The bathrooms always seem to be dirty, with little nats, or fruit flys flying around, and those same bugs were common guests in the pour spouts of the draft beer taps. After working there and dealing with managers that were either extremely lazy or lacking any sort of management skills, as well as owners who almost appaear to not care whatsoever for the bar or the employees, I had to leave. I avoid going there at all costs. The place is filthy and is poorly managed.
DO NOT OPEN A TAB HERE – Do Not Leave your card here... I had been to this place a few times, nothing uniquely special except for cheap drinks and close to home. The waitstaff however has no system for opening and closing a tab. They mixed up several cards the last time I went and sent several ppl home with the wrong cards. Luckily I have a good bank that cancelled the charges and refunded my money however I feel for the people who had accidentally gotten my card and were stuck without their own. Docs was the reason my night ended prematurely and they simply closed out my tab since I no longer had any funds to pay with because of their mistake.
Very Cool Local Hangout – I went here on a tuesday night with my wife to see a local band. Great Beer Specials ($4pitchers). Had a burger and it was really good. This is no upscale club by any menas. This is a local hangout full of college kids 21- 30. My wife and i had a blast. Place was very cowded so it was difficult to manuever at times. We also played pool. They have six tables not a couple as the editors review states. If your in the area (clear lake) give it a try they must have the cheapest drinks in houston!
DIRTY....DIRTY....DIRTY!!!!!! – This business does not care about any of their customers or their employees. I had to quit working there about a year ago and finally received my paycheck a month ago! I am still waiting on my W-2's so I can file my taxes and stay in school. I have requested this item 8 times over the last two months and still nothing! The owners are aware that I need the W-2 but continue to put me off....they are also aware that I will be kicked out of school if my taxes are not filed like yesterday!
Clear Lake sports bar, live music showcase for come-as-you-are lounging and shows. – In Short
Just up the stairs from a popular danceclub, Doc's attracts a casual crowd of local regulars, college students, sports fans and fans of the local music scene. A couple of pool tables and video games are featured in the front room, while a small stage highlights the back room. Bar tables near the big-screen TVs are crowded during Pay-Per-View events and local sports games. The kitchen serves up chicken wings, burgers and snacks for the desperate.
