5-star reviews must be from the business! – Well, first let me say...I NEVER review a business because I typically feel that everyone has a bad day from time to time, but today I am making an exception because I feel it's important. So, here I will describe what my experience was at Vanity Salon by Jennifer...
When I arrived at the salon, I was barely greeted by a young girl who looked up at me from behind the desk (no hello, hi, can I help you, no smile - Nothing!), I told her who I was/was there to see. The only response was "ok". So, I sat down in a nice, pleasant and clean waiting area. Shortly thereafter the stylist came to get me. Stylist was pleasant and talkative, but didn't seem very interested in the needs of my hair - which was why I was there, of course. Stylist reeked of cigarette smoke (I don't mind smoking, but MAN this was bad)!
Anyways, to sum up my experience, stylist did not seem to be skilled or comfortable with hair which made me very nervous and uncomfortable! Stylist was very talkative with a great attitude, but again, I was not there to talk, I was there for a great color/cut. In the end, stylist pretty much did what stylist wanted to do. Very unhappy with cut, and color is okay, but not what I wanted or discussed. And to top it off...the hair wash was awful! (that should be the best part!)
So again I'm at the front desk paying my bill. The receptionist took my money without a word! No smile, no "how was your experience", no "would you like schedule your next appt", NOTHING. Just slumped over starring at the computer screen as she was when I arrived.
All in all, I'm sure there must be other stylists in this salon who work/perform in a different manner but my experience was not pleasant, nor was I satisfied with the outcome. Again, the stylist was very nice, but nice doesn't cut it when it comes to hair. I will now have to find someone to fix the cut and color and move on to a different salon. Too bad! Finding a good stylist is not only expensive but frustrating. Just thought I'd share.
THEY DO NOT CARE!!! – let me first start out by saying that I bought on a Daily Coupon for $99 for the Brazillan Blowout. Dania Acuna was the stylist who did my hair. She was very nice and friendly and seemed to answer all my questions. All I had her do for me was the Brazillan Blowout. Let me just say, that there was absolutely NO WOW factor. No excitement at all when she told me she was finished...my hair felt horrible...like straw...before my friends and family had always complemented me on how soft my hair was. She put all sorts of products in it...which also made it feel very greasy and therefore I just thought it was because of the styling stuff she put in my hair...something I NEVER do...when I got home I didn't wash my hair as I thought maybe I should wait till the next day and let everything set really good. The next morning I washed with my hair with the NON SULFATE shampoo that was recommended and begin to dry my hair....it was a disaster...it was like straw and very fly away...more curly than before..and tangly...and it took me more than twice as long to straighten than it had before I stepped foot in that salon, which just infuriates me because on the phone when I called to make the appointment and after I got there...she assured me that my hair preparation would be cut in half or more...well it is not...it takes me twice as long to get my hair done...I have to straighten with flat iron 3-4 per small clump strand of hair...it is brittle and always tangly feeling. I do not know what this stylist used on my hair but I can tell you the product has ruined my hair. I have sent 5 emails to Dania with no response...I have also cut and pasted the emails into phone texts and sent them 5 times as well to her cell....still nothing...nor have any of my phone calls been returned. I would not recommend her or the salon to anyone as apparently she nor the salon cares at all about customer satisfaction. All I know is that I want this stuff out of my hair...I had this done on a Friday and the next was my 55th birthday party and because of the outcome of my hair that was done I had to wear a HAT...and the bad part is...I never once asked in the emails or texts or phone messages that i wanted my money back...I just asked her to call me to see what I could do to get this stuff of my hair...how i could fix it...so because she or no one from the Salon has taken upon themselves to return a phone call or care nothing about customer service...it has forced me to right this review. DO NOT GO THERE...its a shame that a service industry cares more about the dollar...than satisfying a customer...doesn't she realize that her business is more than 50% word of mouth....hmmmmmm.....
Just be careful – Very bad customer service. Be careful and definitely get a recommendation from a friend. I followed one of the stylists from a previous salon and absolutely love the way she does my hair - BUT when she was on vacation and I had to use someone else it started out great and became a disaster. After getting a partial set of highlights and a haircut - $165.00 later which I think is very pricey - the highlites were gone after 3 weeks!! Never mind making it the normal 6-8 weeks, the stylist said she didn't know my hair and wouldn't guarantee her work. So I had to pay AGAIN to get highlights with no offer from the original stylist for a do-over or a refund.
Best kept secret salon in Houston – This is one of the best salons I have ever visited . All the stylists are very skilled and professionals. Seldom do you have to wait and never, never do they try to "sell you UP into something you dont want. Very friendly and relaxing. I would use this salon for any service and recommend it to all my friends.
Great Service!!! Friendly staff!! Funky and Fun!! – This is my favorite place ever!! The owner Jennifer is such an artist. Everywhere I go people ask me where I get my hair done. The salon is top of the line, and I love the style and relaxed setting.
Editorial Review – Salon provides Houston with full hair care from color to cuts as well as skin care treatments.
