Old Cakes!!!

This cake shop has been my "choice" shop for many years. I've raved about this delicious cakes to everyone I know, so when it came time for another cake order where else would I go? Unfortunately, when speaking to the cake shop about postponing or canceling my order they told me I couldn't because my cake was already baked. WAIT A SECOND... I'm buying a week old cake?!!! The story about my order keeps changing every time I contact them... bottom line is they were ready to give me a week old cake. The lack of customer service & professionalism was the worst I've experienced yet. I warn all to stay far far away from this place... of course unless you want a stale cake.

Avoid Exclusive Cake Shop & Exclusive Reception Hall – I've been in the wedding business for over a decade and was really surprised by the ordeal. They welcomed us warmly, then were very helpful in getting the day setup, but the follow thru was not up to par with what I had experience in the beginning. I bought everything from them, Cake, Cake Delivery, Reception Hall, Hall Setup, Hall Cleanup, DJ, Lighting, food, VIP area, Bridal Suite, and even sweet bread with coffee for snacks.

- The cake was wonderful looking, though it was not made the way we had agreed, drew a picture of and signed.

- Then after serving the cake, they NEVER gave us the top for our 1yr anniversary.

- At the event they were to have served coffee and sweet bread, but it never happened, though I was still charged.

- In addition, they kept our ice chest and 6 bottles of wine.

- Not once have they provided an explanation, or an apology.

- I have reached out to them three times since the wedding and they have not called back. Each time, the individual said they would look into it and then would call back. One of the calls was with the owner, but still no call back!

- I was warned about them by others in the wedding industry, but I wanted to give another small business a chance.

- I made a horrible decision. This has really upset my new wife and now we do not have the cake top to celebrate our 1yr anniversary.

- At this time I do not recommend this shop or their hall called Exclusive Reception Hall.

- I encourage anyone with similar experiences to tell their story. It 's appropriate that a person having a future event be aware of the experience that others have had in the past.

- It's possible that it was just a day that everything went wrong, but that does not excuse them from their contractual, ethical, and professional responsibilities to their client/s.

STAY AWAY......NO CUSTOMER SERVICE – We used The Exclusive Cake Shop for my parents 50th wedding anniversary party. BIG MISTAKE!!!! The cake itself looked fine except for the bubble on the top layer and the missing frosting also on the top layer. These however are not my main issue with Laura. In transporting the cake the top layer slid straight off taking the pictures and backside of the cake with it. Now, I know the easy response is to say "Reckless driving" which is all Laura said about why the top had slid off. However, I was the one driving the car the cake was in and I can assure you there was no abnormal driving conditions. Rather, I believe the amount of filling on the top layer and the fact that it was not secured in any way caused it to slide straight off.

When I went to talk with Laura about it all she did was make excuses and point the finger at me and the my mother-n-law who picked the cake up. I was not looking for anything more than an apology and an understanding as to why this may have happened. But, from the minute I mentioned what had happened Laura became defensive and insistant that there was nothing that she could have done wrong or differently. She continously told me that she is not responsible for the cake once it leaves her shop and that I should have driven better. NOW THAT IS GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE! I WILL NEVER BUY FROM HER AGAIN AND I WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW TO AVOID HER SHOP.

Very Good Cake and Good customer service. – My experience with this cake shop was GREAT. Im very happy for the job they did to me and to my friends cake that I actually wanted to write a review.

I tasted their cake for first time at my friends wedding and got interested after I heard so many compliments on the cake that I asked my friend to tell me who did their wedding cake.

When I called to set up a cake taste they were very friendly to me. I decided to book my wedding cake with them after they showed me all the cakes they have made before. And sorprise! my cake was gorgeous and delicious !!!!

I just read all the other reviews and they are very different from what I experienced. Laura was very sweet and knew what she was talking about all the different types of icings, colors, and cake designs.

If you are looking where to get your wedding cake I will recommend you to go with Exclusive Cake Shop.

DO NOT WASTE UR MONEY, DONT LET THE PICTURES FOOL YOU – This is my first time writing an actual review, but this place made me so livid with disappointment, I felt it was necessary to document it and make others aware of the poor service and extremely unprofessional way this matter was conducted.

I live in Houston, but went to school in San Antonio, and my mother lives there. The occasion was for her 50th birthday.



We chose this place because they advertise unique cakes and have a portfolio that establishes their challenging designs. Our cake being super simple, we assumed it would be a walk in the park and that we had nothing to worry about. We were sadly mistaken and greatly disappointed.

I should have noticed the red flags, for example: when my sister called ahead of time to order a piece of Kahlua cake so that we could taste it the day we were in town (which is the instructions we were given by them). We never received a call back after leaving a message.

Nonetheless we went to our consultation anyway, and instead had to taste the Kahlua icing, It was a tan color and we decided to make that the overall flavor/color to go with our color scheme.

Keep in mind that myself and an employee there were consistently emailing each other details about this cake to ensure the presentation of the cake was accurate. There were over TEN emails.

Come the day of the event we received a cake that was poorly put together and not worth what we paid. We actually thought the delivery guy had brought out the wrong cake from his van.

We received a white cake (not Kahlua colored) with black ribbon. I mailed 3 types of ribbon (color scheme gold and brown) and was told they couldn't use 2 and claimed they didn't receive the third. So they took it upon themselves to use black ribbon on a white cake. NOT EVEN CLOSE to the color scheme discussed. The owner said that was all she had in her store at the time. The lack of consideration that was put into this cake is outrageous.

When I spoke to the owner (Laura), she never knew who she was talking to almost EVERY time she called me. She spoke as if I was the cake expert and claimed that I should've known these things. She kept babbling about details that can get left out, only our cake had NO DETAILS. It was VERY SIMPLISTIC. HALF of the presentation was store bought ribbon!

She did not offer to make me any substitutes nor did she give me store credit. She was not very accommodating and was very repetitive because she refused to listen. Her absurd excuses were more disappointing and she made uneducated guesses. When I mentioned the photo I had chosen from her actual cake archives she said I was lying and stated that it didnt exist.

So I emailed it to her and didn't receive an apology for accusing me of making it up.

Please do not waste your time and money on false pretenses. If you want what you buy then DON'T DO BUSINESS at this place.

Great looking cake and great taste – This is the first time I use this cake shop. I found them online. I liked the pictures of the cakes I saw on their website so I called to make an appt. When I walked in the shop, they had several beautiful sample cakes. They gave let me taste their choices of the cakes and filling. Then I looked through a book of pictures and chose my design and colors. I placed the order and paid for it. I showed up 3 weeks later to pick up the cake and it was fabulous. It was beautiful just like I had imagined it.

I will definately order from them again.

Disappointed – First and only time I've been to this cake shop was for my wedding cake. The day of my wedding I took a look at my cake and it was slanted (tilted) it was embarrassing and very disappointed. It was also noticeable in our memory pictures. I called after our honeymoon to complain they told me they would get back with me with a call and they never did.

Bittersweet Bakery – My first experience with the family owned shop was interesting, and that should have been a hint. I walked-in the shop to see what they had to offer in wedding cakes, since I was getting married and needed to order my cake. I was greeted by the mother, which was nice but she didn't speak a word of English. I had to sit and wait for the daughter to arrive at the shop to talk about their cakes. After deciding to give them a try (not usually a good idea to try a brand new place for such a special event), I encountered a lot of little fees in our contract, which pretty much undid the big savings I was going to gain from using them in the first place. One of these fees was a large deposit for using their silver cake stand, which never made it to our wedding!! The cake looked nice and tasted good but I was very disappointed with this mistake. Later on, the owner refunded my deposit and said that the wedding that used our cake stand the day before, did not return it on time, which is completely ridiculous. If you are going to have a business, you should keep plenty of cake stands in stock! She offered to make us a small free cake (only after I called and shared my dismay) for our 1st anniversary, which was nice. Then later on, I found out that most cake shops offer this to all of their customers as a complimentary service. Overall, not so impressed. I hope they 'get it together' if they hope to stay in business. My advice is, save yourself the headache and go elsewhere.

Impressed!!!! – The Exclusive Cake Shop did a great job on my wedding cake. I received so many compliments, It was just the way I wanted it! And I also got all my floral arrangements there as well, which also turned out beautiful!!!! I would highly recommend their service, the staff is very friendly and experienced!
