Great Service, funny waiter – My wife & I were in Lexington (live in Louisville) last weekend, & had dinner on the patio. Our server, Lonny, made our experience spectacular! The food was pretty good too! When we asked Lonny for suggestions, he mentioned that the buttermilk quail was the signature dish as it had been written up in the Southern Living magazine. I decided to forgo the filet and try the quail. I was not disappointed. My wife also enjoyed the halibut special. The waiter was prompt, attentive, and had a dry sense of humor - which we enjoyed.
We will eat @ a la Lucies next time we are in Lexington! So will our friends!
Horrible Service – I usually don't write reviews, but this will be an exception. My boyfriend took me here based on a friends recommendation. It was our prom night, and this was the only bad part. Our waitress was rude, the food (which was good, by the way) took forever, our bread was hard, could not get a refill. You'd think my boyfriend and I were asking them to bend over backwards for a refill of iced tea. It was overpriced, we ordered two salads, a steak and a chicken entree, and one piece of cheesecake for 80 bucks. When the waitress got a not so great tip she followed my boyfriend outside and told him he was stealing her service. I suppose since we are teenagers she thought she might be able to get my with it. He was very polite to her but she insisted that if we were so cheap maybe we ought to eat at a cheaper restaurant. We asked to speak to a manager, and it turns out that they don't have a manager, and Lucie has not been in. I have had better service at a fast food place. The room was also in dire need of attention, it looked worn out and some of it was just plain tacky. I will not be going back.
Great Atmosphere! – Me and my boyfriend wanted to get out one night and we had been hearing great things about a la lucie so decided to go there. I personally loved the atmosphere and the service was great. We both ordered the smoke salmon, I thought it was great, but my boyfriend thought it was a little too salty, oh well you can't please everyone! It was a little pricey but i thought it was well worth it.
Food would have tasted better if it wasn't burned – I went to A La Lucie with a group of seven people. It is the first time and the last time I will go. It was difficult to read the menu because it was so dark. I had to bring the menu close to the candle in order to read it. The server brought out two baskets of bread, one of them with a loaf of burnt bread (not just overdone, there were parts of it that were black). I ordered the Chicken Phyllo, and to my dismay, there was a layer of burnt phyllo on top, masked by the hollandaise sauce. The food that was not burned did taste great, I must say. To make matters worse, because we all asked for separate checked, the waiter thought it was kosher to bring a stack of booklets and assemble each one at our table. Talk about bad service.
Great atmosphere and Good Food – This place was great. I went there on a recommendation from a Lexingtonian, so I hoped for the best. Lexington is not known for great restaurants. I moved here from Nashville, which has many. A La Lucie's would be great in Nashville. It has great atmosphere and good food. The food was very well presented and my service was pretty good. It wasn't five star, but as far as I have seen, one of the best places in Lexington. I would give it a solid four star! Great wine and drinks, too!
overrated – At every site I go to A La Lucie's gets a very good review, so I decided to go there one night with my girlfriend. It sucked.
I ordered a chile marinated ribeye done medium, the meat was dry and had vertical lines of well done and medium done meat (probably from microwaving). The service was slow, the decor was tacky. If this is the best that Lexington has to offer, I'm moving.
