Best Chinese Food in Central Arizona – Mention Chinese food and this is our first and only choice. One of the best restaurants in Casa Grande, period.
Simply Wonderful Chinese Food – Today, my significant other and I went to Hong Kong for lunch. They have a number of inexpensive lunch combinations that include soup, an egg roll, a crab puff, and fried rice in addition to a generous helping of whatever main dish you choose.
He ordered Four Seasons as his main dish, and a fried shrimp appetizer. The shrimp were hot, fresh, and quite tasty, although the amount of breading was a bit much for my taste. The accompanying sweet and sour sauce was to both our liking. The hot and sour soup was served piping hot, and was a deep, rich color. He declared it delicious and, between gulps of iced tea (which was also fresh) made it clear that it in no way lacked spice. I myself do not eat meat, but his entree was served hot and fresh and included a good amount of beef, chicken, pork and vegetables. It only included two shrimp, but maybe that season was like winter in Arizona (almost nonexistant). He devoured the crab puff, and the fried rice was tasty and appeared to be free of meat. Neither of us are egg roll fans, but it looked like it would appeal to those of you that do enjoy them.
As I stated earlier, I do not eat meat so the lunch combo was off limits. Instead I ordered vegetable lo mein from the regular menu. It was the best Chinese food of any sort I have ever had in Casa Grande. The vegetables were fresh, delicious, and abundant. The noodles were classic Asian lo mein- tender without being mushy, and delicious. The dish was well seasoned and HUGE. I ate until I was full and took home enough for a large dinner.
The servers are friendly and and attentive, but the restaurant does seem a little understaffed so you may not want to try and squeeze in a lunch break here unless you call ahead and order takeout. The decor is simple and (compared to your other Chinese restaurant options in Casa Grande) quite pleasant. Unlike the several places in town offering buffet dining with hand-me-down furniture reminiscent of a your high school cafateria, the seating is comfortable. The other customers were working professionals, dressed casually but not sloppy, or retirees. I did not hear a single screaming baby, watch anyone let their multiple children run rampant around the dining area, witness anyone changing a diaper at their table, or have to listen to anyone screaming into or ignore the ringing of their cell phone. While, of course, there were a fair number of customers of size, the lack of a buffet option spared us from having to watch morbidly obese patron shovel plate after plate of friend food into their mouths while drinking cola by the gallon.
Beer and wine are available and reasonably priced. Dinner specials are also offered, again for a reasonable price.
Overall, a wonderful dining experience. I can't wait to go back, and I would certainly recommend it to everyone, particularly those of us who enjoy a great meal for a bargain price in a quiet, classier setting.
