I dont reccomend going here – So, I looked this place up and noticed that there were more bad reviews than good reviews but decided to take a chance b/c I knew a couple people that liked it. Bad choice! I called a week ahead to ask questions and to make sure that there were no surprises. I wanted the night to run smooth and once I got the ok from them I went ahead and asked about 15 people to join me. So, I get there with 5 people all dressed up and they said that it was guest list only. I was like, "What!?". I said that I had called and that the person on the phone didn't metion that AT ALL! The ONLY thing that they said is that there was no cover and that to get there early b/c it gets crowded quick so to to ensure getting in its best to get there between 9-11pm. Ok, we did that. So there I was feeling like an idiot because my party was looking at me like now what? I was embarressed and was so frustrated because I was avoiding this situation. They had horrible customer service. All I got was blank stares and snotty attitudes. There was no we're sorry. I think that they should have made an exeption being that it was there fault. Not that we're to good but I wasn't going to beg. I thought I had taken care of all this. I did ask do we have to wait till a certain time or did we have to wait in a certain line? She said that we might get in if we had an equal girl/guy ratio. That was another thing that shocked us. Like I said the person on the phone didn't mention anything like this. I would not reccomend this place at all. I was so dissapointed. I even heard them turn away a party that had paid for a table because of the girl/guy ratio thing. And I know they paid alot b/c I asked about that too. The cheapest table was about $300. Thats how they treat their guests. I rather go spend my money somewhere else. There service was the worst I've ever experienced!
boo. slide is lame – Wow. Slide really needs to get over itself. Actually, maybe just the doormen do. I went to Slide in a group of six tall, gorgeous girls, and I hate to sound conceited but, we don't have trouble getting in anywhere - ever. This amazingly rude doorman doesn't let us in because the place is "full" (it wasn't) only to welcome in a group of his friends (who are ugly by the way). It makes sense if you think about it. The doormen are sad, ugly, short little men and this is really their only chance in life to judge and reject beautiful women, because normally they're the ones getting rejected every day. So they're feeling pretty powerful and they'll make sure you know they're the boss.
Oh, and did I mention that it was pouring rain and he yelled at us for trying to stand under the awning? Nice touch. Slide just lost our business and that of all our friends. Good work Slide!
Fun Halloween Party – First time at Slide after living in the city for 6 years. I went with 3 other friends who reserved a table and we all had a memorable time. It was nice because it wasn't so cheesy or a huge pick up scene and everybody was just having fun dancing which can be hard to find at a club. The dj that night was great, playing all kinds of fun music. The employees there do a great job, keeping it clean and making sure everything is run smoothly. The bathroom does need help, but not surprising for a club.
Never again! – Made reservations, prepaid for two bottles of Gray Goose & had a VIP list of 8....did they let ANY of my guests in...you guess "NO" maybe we were all islanders in our suits & cocktail dresses but the bouncers at the door were impossible. I even meet the underboss Reggie (don't want to stoop down to there level with names) & still none of my guest were able to come in. So now I was stuck drinking 2 paid bottles of Gray Goose & had a very merry birthday with my husband.
So I filed a complaint to the bureau which handles customer complaints, nothing really happened & till this day I have not gotten a response from them. I just wanted to let you know about my expensive experience & after parting in the city for 10 plus years...you cannot & will not turn the city into Vegas or LA....We are a eclectic, urban & social crowd only wanting to have a memorable night in the city with our friends!!!
Rules For No Reason Except to Make You Feel Not Cool Enough – Last night 3 friends and I went to see Moby do a DJ set here. That was the only thing cool about it. I never write reviews but I felt compelled to do so after experiencing this place.
1) When we sat one of the many empty booths that surround the entire dance floor, we discovered that YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SIT ANYWHERE unless you have paid $350 dollars to reserve a booth. There is NO WHERE else to sit.
2) After my boyfriend checked his bicycle-type bag full of stuff, I decided to go check my purse with my coat in it, only to be told by the coat check girl, "We don't check bags, baby."
3) Not only can't you sit down, you can't put your drink down either. Our FULL drinks that we were standing next to were whisked away by some man who told us we couldn't leave them "unattended."
4) Yes it's true, apparently you're not allowed to go down the slide if you have anything but pants on. I tried, and was told 'no skirts.' (when the "slide guard" girl turned around to french kiss some guy, I jumped down the slide anyway, HA! My boyfriend was scolded and told HE WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE. ?!?!? We didn't though. Ha, again).
6) When we picked up our coats and bags, I said to the coat check girl, "Oh, you *do* check bags," to which she replied, "We check bags, not purses." Huh? So I guess if my purse was fashioned more like a bag it would have been acceptable.
This club obviously is trying to cater to people who want to feel more important than everybody else rather than just trying to create a cool atmosphere.
The weird thing is that Moby doesn't strike me as the kind of performer who would want the kind of audience who Slide is trying to attract, as well as the opener, Syd Gris, who is a local promoter and DJ and somewhat of a local Burning Man icon. Definitely not his usual scene.
Moby was great, but I will NEVER go back here for anything, as the staff is rude, the rules are ridiculous, and the crowd is unfriendly.
Will split up your party if they can – Don't bother going there if you are a group of friends! They will split you up if the can.
We were having a great party with 4 beautiful girls and 2 guys before we went to this place. At the gate they told the girls to go in first and the guy to stand in a separate line. When the guys came to the end of that line the bouncer was set on there being a girls to guys ratio and that we were too many guys. Suddenly he did not remember the guys! And by the way, girls which has already entered the club does not count! To say the least we were not happy with this treatment and actually, it is a pretty bad business decision too (4 beautiful girls (two models) and two attractive guys).
Proper clothing to ride slide – I wish that they would've writen on their website or on here that you have to wear pants in order to ride down the slide. My friends and I all wore dresses and were not able to ride down the slide! That was the whole reason why I wanted to go to this club. The club is still fun though.
Recent concert was awesome! – I attended the Moby concert Thursday the 12th and had a great time. Slide was pretty packed this night but Moby did put on a great show so I'm glad it was crowded. I was pretty close to the stage but was happy with my drink and my friends with just enough room to dance. Once again I was able to go down the slide, my favorite part about this venue...although I also think the bartenders are some of the nicest I bartenders I have met in San Fran, even under pressure. So I have been to Slide on a laid-back Wed night and then for the big Moby blow-out and both times I had a lot of fun. But don't take my word for it, check it out for yourself!
below average – when you first walk in-you can go down the slide or stairs. they will not let you go down if u are wearing a skirt or shorts! wasn't really impressed. decorated nice inside-but just a big room. no dance floor, unless you want to make your own. There is really nowhere to sit down either! bouncers are total jerks. if you are a guy trying to go-good luck getting in, If you show up any later then midnight. it needs to be an even ratio. guy/girl, or they wil not let guys in. totally ridiculous! i wont be coming here again.
how disappointing. we had heard all about this place and were so excited to go and check out what the buzz was about. we got there, the bouncer was COMPLETELY pretentious. after BSing him with him about how we were on the lsit and making up some extravagant lie we got in (shows how much those lists are just fake). anyway, didn't go down the slide because it wasn't open? (maybe becase we got there early). we get in...it is EMPTY. and the people that are standing in there looked like either gold diggers or just wanna be european models....unfortunately they really didn't have the looks to succeed as either (sorry but it's true). the few people there seemed snobby but i hoped a couple drinks would remedy it. after paying a LOT for drinks, we left. drinks were weak, place sucked, interior had NOTHING special going for it. bouncers are losers and basically....a waste of space place.
