Never Again! – Met a friend who I hadn't seen for a while for breakfast last Sunday. After finishing our meal and halfway through my second cup of coffee, an older gentleman came over (may have been the owner?), interrupted our conversation and asked us to leave. He said "You've been here a while and I need your table". I asked if I could finish my coffee. He repeated his request that we leave. I told him I won't be back and he smiled and said "OK". I would have given 3 stars for the skimpy, overpriced breakfast (one thin slice of lox and a tiny wedge of watermelon = $8.95 gravlox platter with side of fruit?) But such rudeness is unforgivable. I try to give my business to independently run coffee shops, but not this one. I'm telling everyone I know to stay away.
Horrible – I live in the Highlands and frequently visit Gallop often. The food is good, however the prices are high. Also service can be spotty. The location is great and unfortunately the only draw.
Recently I was told no Bluetooth or Head phones where welcome at Gallop ( I was wearing headphones drinking my coffe). I will not visit Gallop Cafe again. Too many great coffe and bakery spots in my neighborhood. A bakery opened across from Gallop Cafe and they are great!
Fantastic Neighborhood Coffee Shop – I live and work close to Gallop and love dropping in at all hours of the day! Not only are the owners friendly and passionate about their business, they truly give back to the community as a whole.
You wouldn't think that Gallop would be a place to go for food--but it is. They are much more than a "Coffee Shop." The food is so flavorful, filling, and reasonably priced. I can't get enough of their brunch menu, which they just recently extended to 2:00pm everyday. (yay!)
The atmosphere is fun, and the patio overlooks an active intersection--perfect for sipping on a cold drink during a hot summer day.
These other reviews really surprise me! I have had fantastic experiences there for several years now.
In response to the laptop comment, I can completely understand why they would be a little upset about that. I hate when people walk in, order one drink, and sit down for hours on their computer. It's one thing in a chain coffeeshop where there's plenty of room, but this place is quaint and meant for enjoying your drink and food, not hogging the space for work. That's just my opinion.
Do yourself a favor and check it out for yourself!
ok, a bit stuffy in some ways, too expensive – Coffee's ok, not great. Food's decent, not exceptional. They do sandwiches fairly well, pastries better. PRICES are TOO HIGH. Employees seem great and service seems pretty good and friendly, but it seems like the owners can be a bit stifling and controlling, even with customers a bit oddly. There are better places like it in Denver (though not many - which more a commentary on the area than on the place...Denver will hopefully get better in this way regarding the food and customer service with time).
gallop needs to go – F*** that place!!! i live two doors down and in my morning stuper i am drawn to it because of the convenience. when in there, the staff is wonderful but those two owners are the biggest pompous pr!(ks i've ever met. they always give me sh!t about my dog, ask me to leave when i open my laptop and then pretend to be nice to me when i order a high-priced food item. NEVER will i go in there again and give them my business. where is Cafe Mondo when we need them? DON'T GIVE THEM ANY BUSINESS. i would love to see those two jerks go down!!!
The WOREST coffee shop in Denver – This was an awful experience. I expected a quaint neighborhood cafe for a morning cup of coffee. The coffee is mediocre at best, the food below average and everything overpriced. To top it off this 'cafe' is the opposite of friendly or nieghborly. In fact they prefer for to you slam your coffee and go, and will tell you, rather rudely, to leave if you happen to stay too long.
Bad Service, More Like No Service – I live right down the street and I have been into gallop twice now. The first time I went in with a friend and sat down and waited for someone to come take our order. After about 10 minutes I realized the girl working was only there to help her coffee sipping, book reading, goth wearing wanna be punk rocker friends. She walked by us three times to help her friends but never so much as looked our way. I wish Cafe Mondo would have taken this spot, but no matter, they are only right down the street and well worth the extra drive/walk. My second visit was late at night and I was going in there to pick up some cookies for the late night munchies. I bought 4 no bake chocolate cookies and a brownie and my total was $17 dollars! Damn, I should have gone to a real bakery and bought several dozen cookies. Overall, this place isn't anything to write about (unless you're reviewing it, of course).
