Unexpectingly horrible! Should not be located on Park Ave! – This was the most awful experience in dining I have ever endured. We will NEVER step foot in this filfhy place again. Not only was the environment dirty, but witnessed the manager killing a roach not far from our table. We decided to give this turkish restaurant a try even after we were warned about management. We will not ignore advice again. After trying for ourselves, the lavas was amazing but the owner/manager RUDE and ugly to customers and staff! He seriously shows no class or customer hospitality. Place was empty during busy hours so now we know why! very disappointed! :(
Horrible Management & Staff – Our first time trying this restaurant and we were treated terrible! While their food may be decent, their management and staff are DEFINITELY NOT! We will NEVER step foot in this place again!!!
HORRIBLE MANAGER, EMPLOYEES! – What a HORRIBLE experience for Easter dinner.
1. Reseversations for dinner were made in advance for a party of 6 for Easter dinner. A table outside under the umbrella was specifically requested and we were told "sure, no problem" when reservations were made. When we arrived at 6:30 for our reservations we were taken to a table by the door, with a table barely big enough to accomodate 6 people with NO room to spare. When we looked to the right there was the table with the umbrella, with the reserved sign on it, which was the table we had reserved but were not being seated at. We then told her that we had requested the table with the umbrella outside when we made the reservations and wondered if that's why the table she DID NOT seat us at said reserved? She stated that table was reserved for another party but then reluctantly sat us there and made it very apparent that she was not happy about it. When we sat at the other table she made it clear again that the table was reserved for other people, but said she will sit them elsewhere in a unhappy tone.
2. When the reservations were made my boyfriend called back up and asked about the gift certificate we have for Bosphorus where we had paid $10 to get $25 off from a website. My boyfriend specifically said to the female that "we have 6 people sitting at one table but it will be 3 separate checks. Can we each use our gift certificate on our separate checks?" She said "yes, no problem". He specifically stated to her that we were all at one table but three separate checks. However when it came time to pay, they then decided to change what he was told when he called beforehand and said only one certificate could be used even though it was THREE separate checks and even though we were told on the phone before hand that we could. We then went in to speak to the manager. He basically called us a liar, stating that no we were NOT told that, that none of the girls there remember him calling last week and asking, and stated that if he did call they would have asked him. Well we cannot help what the employee DID NOT do as far as asking him, but to shake his head and basically call my boyfriend a liar because his employees wouldn't admit to the phone call is WRONG as a manager. He refused to do anything about it and asked us to leave the restaurant NOW. He asked for the name of the girl who told us that but my boyfriend did not get her name when he called since he was asking a simple question and she gave him an answer. He did not think to get her name as most people probably wouldn't when they call a restaurant to ask a simple question. Because he did not get her name he looked at us and shook his head again in a manner that said "sorry I don't believe you and my employees wouldn't tell you this" when YES a female on the other end of the phone did! He shrugged his shoulders, did NOT care, said he did NOT care if he lost us as customers, and was pretty much the worst manager I have ever dealt with. My boyfriend is a local police officer who had called and asked the question and he continued to imply he was lying about calling and being told that. He also said the owners wouldn't care about it either.
3. The manager also told us we were wrong in that they do NOT take reservations. You do not take reservations???! Then how were we able to call a week ago and set up reservations for 6:30 pm on Easter for the table outside with the umbrella? And then how come that exact table had a reserved sign on it, the ONLY table with a reserved sign on it outside? And then told it was reserved for ANOTHER party and not ours?? The manager then went on to lie and say they put reserved signs on all the outside tables but what's funny is NO tables had reserved on it except that one. I also see on the reviews that other people have made reservations. BUT according to the manager WE were the ones who were wrong because they do not take reservations!
Love this place – The price is high but it is worth. Food and Service was great :)
A bit of a surprise – When we got to Winter Park this is the restaurant that people recommended. Being an adventurous eater that was the first place I wanted to go to eat.
It was busy and we had no reservations. We got a nice enough table close enough we spoke to the neighbor table. I ordered a coke. That is the surprise part. I found via my mouth a piece of glass. I took the remains out and showed the waitress. The owner, her father, came over and expressed concern.
Dinner was good, really liked the salad. When the check came and I saw no adjustment for the drink or anything. I was shocked that I was charged for the drink. I paid the full price and did not complain. I just feel I was an unimportant tourist so no free coke.
Outstanding Food & Excellent Service – If you're looking for a unique dining experience in the Orlando/Winter Park area, then Bosphorous is the place for you. The cuisine is off the charts delicious, from the appetizers (especially the Lavash, made daily at the restaurant) to the entrees (I highly recommend the lamb), and the tasty desserts. The staff and management are impeccable and attentive to every request and need. The atmosphere is perfect for large groups and intimate enough for that memorable first date. A great mix of classy and casual that brings diners back on a regular basis. Don't miss out on this wonderful establishment!
Turkish Restaurant – I went to this place for my friend's birthday. First of all, we had to wait long time to be served. Wine glasses were brought for white wine instead of red and they were visibly dirty. We asked server to change those glasses and got very rude attitude. Finally, right glasses were brought together with wine. Food was almost cold by the time it was served. My friend's Bday was ruined and this restaurant charged her three times incorrect amounts during one week, what brought her account to negative balance. She was charged overdraft fees from her bank and owner of that restaurant told her that it is not his problem. Those turkish are rude and nasty people.
Great Food – I use to walk by this restaurant and swear I would never eat there... the food looked too different for me. Well, I did eat there and oh my am I glad I did. I love this place! The food is great! It is now my favorite restaurant. The Turkish wine is excellent too. I would recommend this place to anyone. When my son and daughter in law come to visit from New York City, they always ask to eat there. They have access to some of the best restaurants in the Country and they say this one is fantastic!
Taste the true flavor of Turkey at this upscale Mediterranean hideaway at the far end of Park Avenue. – The Scene
The doors are always open in this golden-mustard colored restaurant designed like a railroad apartment. Hookahs are displayed in top-lit, built-in shelves, which can be taken outside for a sour apple smoke.
The Karisik Meze, or mixed appetizer, with Middle Eastern spreads like hummus, Babagannush, Haydari and more is a meal within itself coupled with the large-pizza sized buttered lavas bread (ordered separately). The extensive dinner menu offers dozens of intriguing dishes, many centered on perfectly spiced grilled lamb. Meat lovers may opt for the Karisik Izgara, featuring a heaping plate of various meats such as lamb chops, Sis Kebap, and chicken Adana Kebap with Turkish rice pilaf. Vegetarian options include delectable green falafels and zucchini fried pancakes known as Mucver.
Too expensive, average quality, small portions. – Great location with outdorr dining in Winter Park. While the appetizers and hummus were excellent - the entrees were small and not that great.
