Large Mega-Church trend setter.
Northland "A Church Distributed" describes the church philosophy in its unique name; emphasizing unity, partnership and service, Northland encourages partnerships with area churches that crosses denominations, and faith barriers. It also partnership with non profit agencies in accomplishing mutual service goals. The large Mega-Church headed by evangelical pastor Joel Hunter has several locations throughout the Central Florida area. Contemporary worship is concurrently simulcasted to several other sites. This new emphasis on multi-site locations is catching on in other places across the United States and around the world, as a way to broadcast one service with the pastor's message and worship style to many locations. The reception is clearly popular with the thousands who attend the weekly services and participate in the numerous activities hosted on a weekly basis. However, some may find that the church is too large, making it difficult to build lasting relationships, the church facilities although new and modern may ironically hide a superficiality that results in a worship service that feels scripted, its more of a show (production) than a worship service. Finally, the sermons tend to be a bit shallow and lack biblical depth though humorous and engaging. In the end, some may find that true spiritual growth eludes them among all the bright lights, programs, and activity.
