Geek Squad Alternative – At one point or another we all need computer repair help and I am no different. I found myself in need at the worst possible moment. In the middle night, when everything is closed and the night before a report is due. I called Geek Squad online support for help and was charged for the $199 virus removal service. They connected to my pc and attempted to remove the problem. After a couple of hours and a whole lot of coffee and nail biting they call me back and say there is nothing they can do. This time, the guy I spoke to had a heavy accent and seemed to be calling from overseas. And long with this and the fact they said the virus is too embedded to be removed without causing further damage and system instability. I get off the disappointing phone call and am still sweating because this report is 35% of my overall grade in this course and I absolutely had to have this done in the morning. I run a quick Google search for a solution when I find SecureRemoteSupport[dot]com who provides online services and have a “No Fix No Pay” guarantee. Wow that would be nice if Geek Squad offered the same promise. Within an hour they had diagnosed the virus and had removed it completely for $105. And best of all, I didn’t lose any of my work and my operating system was completely repaired. Apparently the Geek Squad isn’t as good at their job as secureremotesupport[dot]com is. I really appreciate their diligence on fixing my issue and suggest others think twice before contacting Geek Squad to fix their computer.
Poor Experience – After experiencing problems with my computer (and another Geek Squad) I took my computer to this store to hopefully get whatever was wrong with it resolved. I figured taking it to another Geek Squad couldn't possibly result in an experience as horrific as the one before. Apparently, they're all the same. All a bunch of computer illiterate teenagers taught by managers not to repair computers, but only to upsell products not needed by consumers. Upon speaking with an associate, I was offered various products and services that I didnt need, and that didnt have anything to do with why I was there. I simply needed my computer diagnosed and fixed. Out of being desperate, I left my computer with them with hopes it'd be back to normal after everything was said and done. Nearly a week went by and I'd heard nothing from them regarding my machine. When I called to check up on it's progress, I was displeased to hear that they had been done with it the day before without calling and letting me know. After I picked up my computer from the store I took it home only to find it running as slowly as it had before I took it in, and with dings and scratches around the screen. This was outrageous! This was the second Geek Squad to "repair" my computer and I got it back even more messed up than it was initally! Later as I was reading reviews posted by other consumers, I realized this is common among the Geek Squads around the country. THE COUNTRY! I did however find a company called Secure Remote Support who I took a chance on. Those guys really know their stuff. Although they couldnt repair the dings and scratches the Geek Squad has (so kindly) inflicted on my machine, they did clear out everything that had been making it run so slowly and such. This company is extraordinary. I will be taking all my future business to www.SecureRemoteSupport(dot-com). I would suggest to anyone having computer troubles to give these guys a try
