Most of KY 22 from the pavement slips to the top of the hill (known by residents as "death hill" because of the amount of accidents at that location) and at least until 4 corners, needs attention.
I know everyone in my family and neighbors are aware of what an issue "death hill" is. Anyone who has driven this road on a regular basis have either seen an accident there, been involved in an accident there, or know someone who has been in one there. The guardrail has been replaced so many times it isn't even funny. If you have any doubts about the area I'm speaking of-just look at the bottom of the hill for the shiny new guardrail...it's always either new or crumpled up with barrels in front of it from a new crash.
KY 22 EAST – I am concerned about KY 22 East of Dryridge to Owenton. The Grant County portion of KY 22 East is in bad need of good repair work and re-pavement. I consider this roadway is one of the most dangerous roads in KY. My daughter-in-law was involved in a hit and run collision back in May of this year 2011 on KY 22 in Owen County resulting in her bearing to the right to avoid a head on collision with my three grandchildren aboard. Instead of what she thought was a high grassy area, was grass hiding railroad tie spikes that supported the road and ending up with a totaled out 2005 Honda Pilot that went down an enbankment pulling the ties out of the ground. The driver of the other car to date has not been found. He was possibly driving, according to Owen Co. Sheriffs Dept, an older model red Chevy Cavalier with a black strip down the side. He would have a broken drivers side view mirror. Since that accident Owen County has repaired and repaved their part of KY 22.......Grant County has only done patch work and a poor job of it at that. There are many breaks in the pavement, elevations and dips in the middle as well the sides of the road both east and west.....and numerous accidents to say the least. I would like to find a site that lists all the accidents on KY roads.....especially KY 22 east and west as myself, my son and daughter-in-law and four granchildren travel it daily. Please help me get this roadway repaired.
