They Charge whatever their mood is – I scheduled an appointment for my 4 year old daughter and asked how much it would cost for an updo for a wedding. I was told about $30-35. I said, "Well, which one is it going to be? 30 or 35?" I was then told, "Well, let me check. We'll put you with Tracy S. It will be 30." So on the day of the appointment, my daughter did not want an updo and Tracy just did a blow dry and style. No shampoo. A little tease on top, hair band on top, and about 8 little sprigs of baby's breath pinned in. She didn't tease her hair enough and curled it when we (my daughter and I) both said "No curls!" And I had her redo the baby's breath because it wasn't how we wanted it. I will admit that the final product was quite lovely. But when we left, I was charged $40. It didn't dawn on me until we got in the car. It was the day of the wedding and I certainly did not want to call and deal with it at that moment as we had to be at the bride's home in a few minutes. So I called the next morning and said that my daughter did not get an updo, so why was she charged $40. I was treated so poorly and asked twice by the receptionist, Gabriella, "Well, why didn't you say anything right away?" Couldn't believe it. It's irrelevant. (I guess if you don't say something right away, it entitles them to get away with ripping you off?) I asked how much an adult blow dry and style costs and was quoted at $25. So I asked why then, when my daughter received only a blow dry and style basically, was the charge $40. I had to call several times to get this handled. I was told they would drop it to $30. But I think it should be at the very least the same as an adult blow dry/style - $25.00. This place is ridiculous. You can't get a straight answer. All the stylists are renters -- so there is no manager and the owner was conveniently in the Caribbean for 2 weeks. Tracy wasn't returning to work for 4 days. I was happy with the final product for my daughter and if this was handled properly, I wouldn't be "yelping." But how it was handled has infuriated me. This was not a big problem but escalated into one because of how the receptionist Gabriella handled it. She questioned why I didn't bring it up sooner (even though it was the next day) and went into explaining, "Well, she teased, curled, and had to put in baby's breath." So it cost $15.00 more for a stylist to tease the top of my kid's hair (and I guess teasing doesn't come with styling) and put in 8 sprigs of baby's breath? How many people out there think that sounds like a blatant rip-off? It sounds like they can just charge you whatever they feel like, without any concept of fairness. NO SELF-RESPECTING, BUDGET-MINDED, WORKS HARD FOR HER MONEY WOMAN SHOULD PUT UP WITH THIS! It is time women begin asking exactly what a stylist service will cost exactly up front and negotiate ahead. Stop letting salons overcharge us! I also received an updo, and although my stylist was really nice and great to talk to, she didn't do such a great job. As my 4 sisters said when they saw me, "Your stylist could use more practice on her updos."
