Perfect for a relaxing afternoon lunch. – I made a lunchtime trip to Willow part of my 'spoil myself' day recently. The service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing or pushy. I enjoyed the stew-like quality of the Tuscan bean soup, but was extremely happy with my entree. The lemon soy sauce on their Ginger Pork is to-die-for over a pork tenderlion with creamy, perfectly-cooked texture. I will definatly be back again and would recomend this restaurant to anyone looking to savour a calm and beautiful meal and environment.

Hoss's Quality Steak at Ruth's Chris Price – For $38 I though I was going to get a great steak. I mean how can you go wrong ordering a ribeye steak at that price. I have had steaks all over the city and other cities for this price and more and have enjoyed everyone! That is until eating at Willow. Talk about disappointment! I had been researching restaurants all day and finally decided that willow was the place as it looked very interesting and they had a nice pricey ribeye steak on the menu. This was the worst steak I have ever had! No joke... I was about 1/2 -3/4 inc thick! This is totally unacceptable for that price. It was soaked in this sweet sauce that completely took the taste of steak out of the equation. I ordered it rare because most places cook medium rare at medium or medium well. I thought I could not go wrong with rare! Wrong! It came out medium well. It was hot in the middle and i burnt my tongue. Well I don't see how you can avoid that when the steak was a half inch thick! On top of all this, the waitress was extremely slow! checking back with us every 20 mintues.. we sat with our check for 45 minutes before she picked it up.. then waited another 15 till she brought it back.. In conclusion.. avoid this place.. It does look nice and unique but you can get better food and service at Sunny Jim's down the street!! lol

Great food, great ambiance – Willow is a great place to go with friends or a romantic date. They have a great happy hour crowd and happy hour prices. The food is excellent as is the service.

Go for the ambience more than for the food – After spending a couple of million dollars to create a beautiful space with huge rooms, slate floors, picture windows and lots of woodwork, the owners of Willow seem anxious to give the impression that it is another in a slow but steady trickle of excellent, "chef-driven" restaurants popping up in the Pittsburgh area. Sadly, it's not. The food is decent, semi-trendy, semi-upscale restaurant food -- fish, pasta, chops, salads, etc, -- but it's not outstanding or particularly inspired, and some dishes, like the Cappelini with Spinach and Feta (pretty much the only vegetarian option on the menu), are total flops. If your main interest is finding extraordinary food, try the wonderful Bona Terra in Sharpsburg, or Eleven in the Strip District, or even the less renowned but great lunch-and-tea place, the Cafe at the Frick. -- The main reason to go to Willow is just the ambience. It's a lovely place with a special-occasion feeling; just right for a romantic date, a celebration or to take your parents when they come to town. If you like a nice view, be sure to ask for the Woods Room when reserving.
