Very Helpful!!! – In 2009 as new home/pool owners, we found Atlantis Pools after being connected with another major pool company in the area and having a bad experience. We were really very ignorant as to knowledge about pools and they really took thier time in explaining everything to us. When they first came out to open the pool they walked us through and showed us everything. Our pool is always clear within 3 days of them opening it , as compared to more than a week with the other company. The thing I really appreciate is that they don't try to sell you TONS of chemicals- one to increase this and then aoother to lower a side effect of what the first one increased. If it needs it they suggest it, but they don't push it.. They have always been on time when we have appts. with them and if we have ever had any problems, they have always stood by thier work. I like the fact that they know us by name and we are not just another face as is the case with the bigger companies. Contrary to what the other reviewers have posted, we have always been very pleased with Atlantis and Travis in particular. Unfortunately, people tend to post/complain when they are not satisfied and don't bother to when they are satisfied.
Poor Customer Service – Sadly, this place is very convenient to us but their lack of customer service now causes us to drive right by.
Over the past six months, Travis had told us that Atlantis Pools was going to have a lot in the upcoming Shop-Bid-Buy Auction by the Patriot News, in the November auction and in the upcoming April auction. We are in need of chemicals for the upcoming season as well as Sta-Rite cartridges for our filter. Neither time were they represented in the Auction. Where he gets his information from is beyond me.
We had purchased a solar blanket from Atlantis approximately 2 1/2 years ago. After 2 years of use, the solar blanket was deteroriating beyond belieft even though we kept it covered when rolled up. This was supposedly their top of the line blanket. It took over one month and multiple follow-up calls to Travis for status until it was finally replaced under warranty.
Earlier this year we inquired about the pricing of cartridges for our filter. Again it took multiple follow-up calls to Travis (most went unreturned) until we finally got an answer. Their price was almost 80% higher than what I was able to purchase them for on-line. Yes, they were genuine manufacturer replacements, the same as he quoted. Even had they run the Shop Bid Buy auction and still would have steered clear as who knows how long it would have taken them to order and receive them.
Very poor Customer Service.
Bad Experience!!!! – I believe one of the co-owners name is Jeff Via. He installed a pool for us back in 2001, under the name "Quality Pools". We went with him because Jeff told us he would stand by his work. Well, when we began having issues with the liner, vermiculite and the concrete that had been poured around the pool, we couldn't get Jeff to fix the issues. I tried for three years to get him to resolve the problems we were having. By that time, "Quality Pools" had been closed and Jeff had opened another pool company under the name "Atlantis Pools Inc". When I did get a hold of him again, occasionally he'd forget to check his caller id before picking up, he said, "Listen, you have to understand, Quality Pools no longer exists. If I have to fix the problems, I'm going to have to charge you." I told Jeff that we decided to go with him, not the company he had decided to be called at that time. Needless to say, I was very disappointed with my decision.
Fast forward to today, May 2, 2011. Our liner now needs replaced. We decided to go with Gritz pools. When they removed the old liner, they found out that the base for the pool, vermiculite, had not be properly installed. A considerable amount of the vermiculite was not the hard surface they had expected to find, but was more of a clay material, non existent in some areas of the pool. Part of the problem, described to me by the lead from Gritz pools, was that they hadn't applied the proper thickness of vermiculite, which should have been 2", but was barely an inch, and that they must not have added any concrete to the mixture. As they remeasured the layout for the pool, it was also noted that the dimensions "Quality Pools" had used, based on the remaining vermiculite, were way off.
Please, don't fall into the same trap we did. We trusted Jeff Via and were completely misled. It sucks that you don't find that out until after the job has been done. I have pictures if you would like to see the quality of craftsmanship performed by Jeff Via.
