Upsold like a used car lot – I took my dog in to get neutered and they had a list of charges that were "necessary" for the safety of my dog. Now mind you, other vet's don't charge for, or perform, ECG's, Laser Treatment (Electrosurgical Cauterizer), laser hair removal, but these guys stated it was a standard of care.
What really sent me over the edge is that they agreed that an ECG was not necessary two months ago when they put my dog under for neutering (which they had to cancel because they found a staff infection), but when I brought my dog in the second time, the charges were mandatory. Either they are incompetent or a rip off, because you don't waive something one time and then state that your dogs life is threatened if you don't do it two months later.
The last thing I will mention is that they have a sign in the lobby offering to save 10% on your day's charges if you post a review online. I would read the positive reviews that are posted with skepticism, at the very least.
Each Veterinary Practice has a standard of care for which they provide professional services and recommendations to you and your pets. For procedures such as surgery we perform mandatory pre-anesthetic bloodwork, ECG and an IV catheter. These safety measures keep our pets in good hands when they are under anesthesia. I apologize that the importance of these services were not better explained to you. It is never our intent for owners to be surprised by treatments or prices.
Poor customer service, no response to concerns. Stay away! – We all have options where we take our pets (and money). Choose somewhere else. I assume the care they gave my pet Dwarf Hamster was fine, but the way they administered services was surprising. No one conferred with me before services were given, at no time were costs discussed and I was shocked at the bill when it was finally presented to me.
The worst part was that when I sent a personal email to the Doctor herself explaining my concerns (in a calm and rational manner) it was ignored. I responded with a "poor" review to their emailed survey and asked for someone to contact me...nothing. I think this place is hoping that there are enough new pet owners in Lewis Center that they can continue to make money off of new patients. We will never go back, not because of the price or service, but because it is obvious they don't care what you think (after you have paid the bill of course).
Very, very,very expensive place! – Make sure you bring someone to drive you back home , because you will be without arm and a leg when you leave this place.
My dog spent 2 nights there hooked on IV fluids. They gave him antibiotics for those 2 days and did 2 basic bloodwork tests. Total $1,350!!!!!
After 2 weeks I took him to another vet for the same treatment( IV fluids and antibiotics for 2 days)= $320
I took him to OSU after, since both of these places didn't have a clue what was happening with my dog.
At OSU he had exploratory surgery, and spent 3 days in the hospital with all post op procedures for $2000.
Animal Hospital of Polaris is in my opinion the most expensive vet in Columbus!
Poor Follow-Up; Bad for Guinea Pigs – Although they said they employed an exotics vet, the med student I got instead was not thorough in her exams for my 2 guinea pigs.
I had to wait over an hour in the waiting room with my 2 cavies squealing away in the box at 8pm on a Friday night, the only patient in the waiting room. Granted they said there was an emergency surgery going on which is good he wasn't getting help, but still...
I spent 2 hours at the vet that night waiting, waiting, waiting. When I finally was seen by the Dr. (or student?) she talked a TON and was sweet, but when it came down to it didn't follow through on the things she said she would email me about after she said she'd go look up some research and then get back to me. She didn't notice that my 2 rescued pigs both had bumblefoot and she didn't notice that one had a mammary gland tumor and she couldn't give me any idea as to how many babies or how far into her pregnancy my other guinea pig was.
She never emailed me the signs of pregnancy, the cost of a C-Section, and I still haven't gotten results from their fungal tests, 2 weeks later. :( I called the next day to leave a message for her about the bumblefoot and have never heard back.
All that, and it was expensive!!! There is no discount for multiple pets. :( A nice place to look at, but a real dissapoint ment for a small animal "specialist." :(
I can’t say enough! They Rock! – Sadly we are moving due to a job change, but I have been trying to find the best way to thank some of the companies in town that we’ve worked with over our 7 yr stint in Columbus and I figured “what’s better than a little pda”?
Anyways, Dr. Eaton and the entire staff at the Animal Hospital of Polaris are absolutely amazing. We live around the corner and were so happy when we found them. My husband and I have no actual kids, other than our two standard puddles! One our first things we did when moving here was find a vet and we couldn’t have been happier than with our decision to select Dr. Eaton and her staff as our vet. Their new facility is absolutely amazing and it seems like they’re open 24 hours. Any time we need anything they are always there. We have used probably service they offer from the hospital to boarding in their “Suites” to doggie daycare and of course with poodles the grooming. Ashley, Brittany, Gina, Michelle; well I could go on and on, but everyone over there is amazing and have always cared so much for Simon and Libby.
Well there are many things we are going to miss about Columbus and one of the most is the entire staff at the Animal Hospital of Polaris. We will truly miss you.

What an amazing facility! If you haven’t been there, this place is like no other vet “Hospital” you’ve ever seen. They offer every service under the sun and the hours that they’re open work great for me. I’ve been taking my English Bulldog “Liberty” to them since they were in their old facility across the street. Dr. Eaton and her entire staff have always taken great care of us. If you are looking for a new vet and live in the area go see her (or any of the other vets on staff), you won’t regret it.
Dr. Eaton, thank you for everything ~ you’ve always taken the best care of Liberty when we come in and our daughter loves to visit with you as well. Thanks again and we wish you and your staff all the success in the world!
Wonderful, Caring & Beautiful Facility – This hospital and staff are absolutely amazing. I have been taking lab there (to Dr. Eaton) since 2004 since she was a puppy. She was my first dog and I always felt that she was my true first born and the care that Dr, Eaton and her entire staff have always shown has been out of this world. I read some of the other responses and just can't believe the people are talking about the same place, as I would recommend them to anyone. One time my adorable pup had to have emergency surgery and of course I was going out of town for business, Dr. Eaton even took her home with her at night to watch her until I could get back in town. She called me multiple times a day to give updates on my little princess. I have since gotten a couple more dogs and they have all received outstanding care from everyone the Animal Hospital of Polaris. I guarantee that if you are looking for a quality, caring and compassionate vet that you will be extremely happy with everyone at the Animal Hospital of Polaris. Also, not only have they taken incredible care of us over the years, the fact that their hours are services offered are unmatched anywhere will ensure that they will be our vet hospital of choice as long as were around. Go see Dr. Nikki (or any of the other docs) I know you'll be as please as we are.

Very poor service since expanding – My husband and I have been taking our cat and dog to AHP for years. Ever since they have moved into their new facility, located directly across the street from their old facility, the service levels have plummeted. Every time we have been through the door we see a different face, indicating to me that they are having a hard time keeping staff.
At their old location, we would occasionally have to wait to be seen (when an appt was made) but in their new location, our wait times are ridiculously long (several times over 2 hours when a scheduled appt had been made). This has become the norm as opposed to an occasional event. One of the appts that I had with my cat required me to drop him off and return an hour later to pick him up. When I returned an hour later as asked, I sat in the waiting room for 30 minutes (with every exam room door opened except for one). Finally, a tech came out and asked me to follow her. She took me to the "comfort room", which is where I assume they take people to inform them of their pets passing, and asked me to wait there. Thirty minutes later, after sitting in this room freaking out with nothing but a chair and table with tissues on it, the vet brought my cat to me and said "thanks" as if making me wait in this room without telling me what was going on was no big deal.
And finally, after taking our dog to this vet for 3 years, including puppy training and ALL of her vet appts, we were informed via voicemail by the facility owner that results had come back on some testing and our beloved pet had a cancerous tumor that would require surgery. In this voicemail we were informed, "please give me a call when you get this message." Really? That was left in a voicemail? This was our final straw. Very insensitive, very inconsistent and very unfortunate as we used to rave about our vet. I think they bit off more than they can chew with their new expanded facility and I am not willing to let my pets' care suffer because of it. We have switched vets

Be smart before you take your pets here. You will get good treatment, but will be asked to return for "follow-up" appointments for and multiple visits for pets annually. You will even be asked to have your pet back for multiple visits even if it is on Rx food!!!!! BEWARE. You will be talked into these appointments, however they are not necessary. Don't get pressured in to this practice.

Do your homework and don't get taken advantage of - your pet means a lot to you - but don't pay their mortgage to prove it!
Amazing veterinary clinic... – This facility is great and the veterinarians are wonderful. The level of ethics and professionalism is unmatched. I've been a client of this business since it opened and couldn't imagine a more caring, honest, compassionate and competent group of practitioners. When they say or do anything, they are always acting in the best interest of the client and the pet... and they know their limitations, which makes me all the more confident in my trust of them.
I believe in karma and this business would not be the successful entity it has become without doing things right and doing things the right way! The prices are competitive if you shop around... and the fact that it is a one stop shop (boarding, grooming, doggie day care and a state-of-the art medical facility) makes it beyond convenient. You will love all of the doctors and staff!!! and I wouldn't trust my animals to anyone else (that includes some big name universities and other prominent vet clinics). From the receptionists to the technicians to the veterinarians, everyone has been so friendly, kind, efficient and just plain smart!
