Good foods, horrible service – I've been driving past this restaurants waiting for it to finally open which is now has. We stopped by this past Friday to check it out. The decor is amazing. They did a fantastic job with this building compared to what it used to look like. Although there is no shortage of Japanese food on Route 9, I thought a hibachi steakhouse was a great idea.

Things went downhill right after we ordered. My wife and I were seated with a party of 5 across from us. I ordered Unagi sushi but our waitress completely forgot as the other party were delivered their first plate of sushi. I asked her about our order and she went to check on it. The she brought more plates of Sushi to the other party and none to us. The chef was already starting to cook our entree at this point. The manager stopped by because of an alergy restriction I have and I told him that we still haven't received our sushi. It was finally served after that exchange.

The hibachi was very good. No complaints here. The chefs did the usually flipping of the meats and flaming the table grill with oil. We had all been finished with our entrees for 15 minutes befor our check was presented . I notice that I was charged for 2 beers when I had only had 1? 10 minutes later she bring the new check back. No apology. I then noticed I was over charged on my sushi by $2. After again fixing the check I gave her my credit card and she just disappeared. I finally found the manager again and demanded my credit card back. After finally setting the bill I did something that I had never done before. I stiffed the waitress. We are usually pretty generous with gratuity, leaving 17-20% almost 90% of the time. If she had made any effort appologize or speed up the time it took to get out of there I would have at least given her 10%.

Still I will probably return but I am in no hurry. Like I said, there is no lack of Japanese food on route 9.

Outstanding Food, Service and Ambience – Our evening began with a warm welcome from the hostess, and a very pleasant reaction to the interior design of the restaurant after a long and somewhat harrowing drive. The indirectly lighted reds and blacks are soothing, as are the wall textures, which the owner later described as bamboo imported from Japan and sandwiched between glass. The sushi chef greeted us on our way to the table, and wait staff was quick to take our drink order.

When a woman sitting next to us commented on a draft from the ventilation system, the owner was quick to adjust the heating to her satisfaction. Our appetizers arrived quickly, and were nicely prepared and presented. We had Alaskan Maki (salmon, avocado and cucumber) and Lenny (salmon, cream cheese, cucumber and scallion), a delightful tuna appetizer called Tataki, and a delicious lobster miso. After appetizers, our chef, Dave, arrived, confirmed our orders, and prepared an outstanding fried rice, followed by hot, fresh vegetables that were full of flavor. For main courses, we had a shrimp and chicken dish, and filet mignon, both of which were ample, delicious and served hot. The couples sitting to either side of us were friendly and conversant and also enjoying their meals.

At every stage of the meal, wait staff was attentive and quick to fill water glasses. A trip to the downstairs men's room revealed an intimate dining area for private parties, also decorated with the very attractive bamboo/glass panels, and a handsome wine cellar. While there is a separate bar on the same floor as the main dining room, it is isolated such that it has no impact on the dining room.

Although it is a lengthy drive for us, we very much look forward to a return to Samba for a special family occasion.

Best Tapanyaki in Town – Attractive ambiance. Spacious and airy. Speedy and attentive service. Entertaining chefs. Very fresh vegetables, meats and seafood. We did not order any sushi, but other people's orders certainly looked attractive. Our meals included salad and rice. Although it wasn't listed on the menu, we also received shrimp appetizer and stir-fry vegetables with our entrees. The beef was very tender. The desserts, while somewhat expensive ($9.95 for a slice of mousse cake) were huge in portion size and very delicious. Our family of 4 shared 2 desserts when we probably could have had enough for the 4 of us with just one slice. Our bill was only $6 dollars more than is typical at the other tapanyaki place in town, but the quality of the meal was significantly better. Considering we called the other place first and couldn't get a table, we are very pleased to have tried Samba and probably won't go back to the other place.

Great Service brilliant flavors and moderatly priced – The night started with a friendly greating at the door and followed with attentive service fom our waitress Kiko. We were seated at a Tepanyaki table, I was figuring it would be a repeat of another famous local Tepanykai restaurant here in Framingham, but was pleasantly surprised. The flavors that our chef, David, imparted to the food were brilliant. The resaurant boasts a fusion of Japanese food with South American flavors. Our meal consisted of Fusion Beef for the appetizer, a thinly sliced beef with a Garnish of shredded Dichon Radish. Followed by Sushi, equal to any good sushi bar in town. We had Sirloin and Scallops both exqusitely prepared. The decoration is very clean and contemporary and overall a wonderful experiance

Jinxed Location – If it wasn't bad enough that our waiter had poor hearing and we all had to repeat our orders several times, finally conceding to just pointing to the menu, the service was almost non existant.

Several parties that arrived after us were served before we were.

My dinner came after most of my dining companions were finished eating.

My sushi was not what I had ordered.

They did not give me chop sticks or soy sauce, so I helped my self from the sushi bar across the dining room.

One of the parties at my table was delivered a plate of ginger and wasabi AFTER they had finished eating their sushi.

Their menu clearly states that dinner entrees include salad and rice, but we were all charged extra for rice.

When food finally arrived, the tastes were just average.

I wonder what restaurant Metrowesters will get next in this jinxed location.
