Burtons is the best for Sox Game nights! – This is the best. I am a red sox fan, and after going to the home games and finding out that Burtons offers a buy one get one deal on Sox nights, makes my night even better. Everywhere I go to eat at the games, i end up spending so much money. So when my girlfriends and I heard about the deal, we were in there immediately! Saved us so much money! Plus the cocktails are amazing. Good Location and Great Service!
One of the best gems in Boston – We love this place. Every dining experience has been A+. Drinks are very good. Servers are very attentive and observant. The food is amazing from the salmon to the fillet Mignon to the tuna tar tar. Seating is never a problem and parking is conveniently located next door. Definitely a place in Boston you need to experience.
Relax good friends and good food. – BostonBCP -- I'm a bit perplexed by your review. You went to a non-casual restaurant at 5:40pm before a 7:00 Red Sox game and you actually thougth that you'd be in and out in time for the starting pitch? As a former waitress, I can't believe that you actually got mad that your entree (steak) wasn't on your table in 20 minutes. That's an unreasonable expectation.
I went with some friends last night and had a great time. The waitress was attentive but knew that we were having a great time laughing and talking so she mostly let us be.
I had the Risotto Fritters to start. They were great but I could have done without the tomato sauce. I felt that it took away from the creaminess of the risotto and added an acidity that conlicted with the savoriness of the fritters.
Then I had the mushroom ravioli. They were so delicious that if I were at home, I would have licked my plate clean. The portion size was perfect and the creamy sauce complimented the ravioli very well.
All in all, a good experience. It's a bit pricey for a "grill" ($40 per person and none of us had alcohol) but the food and atmosphere was great.
Best brunch ever! – It took me a while to check out Burtons Grill after I moved into Fenway. It just looked very nice and stylish so I assumed it's really expensive. Today, I finally checked it out and I was amazed. The brunch food is excellent. I had the best toast, the best sausage and the best home fries ever. And the price is extremely resonable for what I got. The decor is beautiful. I will recommend it to everyone.
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE – My wife and I had a very bad experience yesterday, June 26th at the Boston location. We were seated timely - order was taken on time - quite some time before our water was brought to us and bread was served a few minutes before our starter. Considering that we sat at 5:40 and were going to a 7:00 PM Red Sox game, it never entered our minds that we would be rushed to finish our food.
I had to ask the waitress after we ordered 20 minutes earlier to check with the kitchen for my steak and my wife's pasta dish. I then had to speak to someone who identified herself as a manager who told me that it was only 21 minutes since my order was placed but she would check on it. As I told her the service was unacceptable she gave me a time out signal with her hands trying to justify the poor service.
She came back with the orders with extremely hot food and plates - MICROWAVED.
Food just fair. We had to rush to finish to make the 7:00 game.
One of the owners came by to apologize - "we fell on our sword" - he told us as we told him we use to eat at their Derby Street location - Notice the word USE TO. I never asked for anything because of the poor service, fair food, had to rush and we couldn't finish our meals on time. The owner didn't even have enough common sense - you have to have that before "Business Sense" to offer us a drink or dessert.
If the food was for the nothing, it still wouldn't be worth it.
great waiter, awful bartender – I went to Burton's after a Sox game on Patriot's day. We knew they were extremely busy but are patient people and were willing to wait. So we put our names in and went to they bar to get a few drinks. There was only one bartender on the bar but I work in a restaurant and knew I would have to wait for a bit. I only became frustrated when the bartender ignored me. This seems silly but I was leaning over the counter with money in my hand for 20 minutes without a glance in my direction. I tried to make eye contact but I got nothing. The people to my right got 2 rounds and ordered and recieved buffalo tenders in the time I waited. i had to walk away from the bar and a friend in my party took my place. She finally got waited on only to be asked for ID,which is not the problem. It was that after she asked for the ID she went and waited on 4 other people, another 10 minutes waiting, before coming back and taking her order. We also had to wait for our table for an hour when we told 20-30 minutes while there were empty tables in our sight. Thankfully our waiter was excellent and super nice. I don't recommend going there after a game, they are in no way equipped to handle such a large crowd.
Outstanding – A group of my friends and I went to Burton's last week to meet for dinner and catch up on things. It was my first time there and I was very impressed. Our waitress was very friendly and offered recommendations on the menu. The chicken and mushroom ravioli I had was amazing! Two of my friends had a seafood dish that they both enjoyed. Great atmoshphere and staff. I will definitely be visiting Burton's again.
Local mini-chain serves contemporary American fare in stylish, low-key environs. – In Short
With an upscale-casual atmosphere and a stylish lounge area, Burtons makes for a pleasant pre-or post game spot for a drink or a meal. The classic American menu focuses on high-quality meats and fresh seafood at affordable prices. An all-day sandwich menu features a reuben, burger, and steak sandwich, while the heartier entrée menu features filet mignon, ribeye, haddock, or the "Land and Sea"--a 10 oz. aged Angus New York strip with shrimp, scallops or crab cake. Fresh soups, salads, and side-dishes complement the meals.
Good food, good atmosphere – We were pleasantly surprised by both the food and cocktails at Burton's. It's definitely a good place to get a quality steak if you don't want to drop $150 on dinner at one of the steakhouses in Back Bay. Burton's also has a good selection of mojitos.
Good food and decent price. bad wine list and pricey. – I go to dinner very ofter to Burton's and have never been there for lunch. The food is good, but be careful eating at the bar. The bar is very cold no matter what season, so you must eat VERY FAST and I meant it. If you order the burger, good look if you can finish it, since they grill the bun with butter it becomes all greasy and just nasty after it gets cold. The fries are the same story... so order brocoli or something that you can eat cold. Or don't seat at the bar, trust me it will get cold in two seconds!! The servers are not knowlegeable about wines, but I don't blame them since the place have a very limited wine list most of them low quality and overpriced. Lack of variety of healthy options in the menu. Average place to have dinner and comfortable atmosfere. I will take this place 100 times over Eastern Standards. Easy to get in and out since there are tons of cabs on Boylston street.
