Too many other Brookline salons to waste time/money here! – I had my first visit with Golden Finger Nails this past Friday, and my first experience with a gel manicure (regularly get plain manicures). I'm not from Boston, but visit my boyfriend frequently, so wanted to find a place to get my nails manicured if I felt like it when I'm here once or twice a month... which brought me to GFN. I work in the beauty industry, have been hearing a lot of good things about gels, and decided this would be the day to try it - plus, the price was reasonable as compared to NYC. As soon as I called to make my appointment, I got an uneasy feeling about the abrasiveness of whoever took the call. Regardless, I showed up and was told to select my color - nothing out of the ordinary. The girl who was assigned to do my nails warned me that colors aren't always as they seem as they appear on the poster (duh?). When I sat down, my only question on color was if the one I chose would be too clear and not cover my nails, I preferred opaque. Immediately, her defense went up and she blurted "WELL, I TOLD YOU COLOR ISN'T THE SAME AS IN THE BOTTLE". We went back and forth and it sort of ended-- until the owner (seeing some people refer to as Wendy?) came over and started YELLING at me - "let the manicurist do her job", "if you wanted a different color you should've said so", etc. etc. The condescending blows just kept coming without a word permitted out of me edgewise. Now, I am NOT a complainer or a picky customer whatsoever... typically, I just let something as simple as not being pleased with my color choice go (realizing such an issue would be my fault). BUT this woman was the worst. Mind you, the color was only on ONE finger at this point, would've been very easy to fix the situation and appease the customer. She was everything a salon owner shouldn't be: confrontational, defensive and rude, rude, rude. Great price, decent job by my technician, but I will absolutely not be returning and will be spreading the word to anyone I know. There are too many other Brookline salons with comparable pricing to my waste time/hard earned money on someone so unappreciative of my business. Next time I will be going to Nail Stylus directly across Beacon Street.
very POOR customer service and all over a $7 bottle nail polish – Picked out a $7 bottle of OPI from their samples on the wall, painted my pinky nail with it. The guy behind the desk gave me a fresh bottle & said I couldn't pay with a charge for anything under $10. Fine. I left, went to the ATM got the cash & went back, purchased the nail polish, drove home, parked my car and when I went inside looked at the color and compared to the sample on my finger it was a completely differnt color. So I called and told him and he said I could come back in and get another color. So I packed up my son, walked to my parked car got in and drove to the nail salon for now the 3rd time. When I went in I showed him my bottle compared to his bottle and sure enough due to sun exposure the salon's bottle was much lighter than the new bottle. I picked out a different color all together and he tried to sell me the sample bottle, saying it was a fresh bottle. I asked politely if I could please have a fresh bottle and he proceeded to tell me that he shouldn't be taking back the bottle at all, that this was the color I had picked out. I stood there arguing with him, saying, well it's not the same color and he kept saying it IS the same color! Well it clearly said it was the same color but unless you are blind you could clearly see it was a different color. All the while other customers hearing him argue, relentlesly with me that it was the same color and the big big favor he was doing for me by taking it back. I let him have the last word because he obviously needed it. But he lost 2 customers. Me and my mother, we were scheduled to go in there in a few days for a full set of pink and whites and pedicures. Whatever happened to the customer is always right? Why argue with me about this? I'm a real estate agent in the neighborhood. I know so many people that I will not recommend this store to and feel that anyone considering this place should know that their customer service STINKS! So I ask you Mr Manager...was it all worth it????????
Good prices, good service - the best my nails ever looked. – This place is clean, fast, and friendly. I like how its cheaper than most of the nail salons around the area. I have been there about a dozen times now and everytime I have not had a complaint. I can get my nails done quicker and cheaper so it's a no brainer.
