Never again – I feel really strongly about this business, so I would like to share my opinions and experience with you, as a warning. I have reported them to the Department of Health. I do not recommend that you go to this place at all. Here's the info:

I recently stopped into Glamor Nails to receive a basic manicure, approximately three weeks ago. Everything appeared ok at the time of service. A week later, I noticed that one finger was red and swollen. It persisted for the next week, with additional swelling. I have never had this problem in the past, so I did not immediately recognize what is was. Two weeks after the manicure, it spread to the remaining fingers and thumb on my right hand. Fortunately, the next day, I was able to get a rush appointment. The doctor agreed that the condition was the result of the manicure, and put me on antibiotics to fight the infection. I had to miss work for that.

After visiting the doctor, I called Glamor Nails to explain the situation. I asked to speak with a manager, and I was redirected to a lady by the name of Linda. I calmly explained the situation, as it is my belief that an abrasive attitude yields poor results. My intention was discuss a refund for the manicure and the consequent expenses which were, in my opinion, extremely minimal, given the circumstances. I did not intend to ask for anything unfair, or an amount greater than the expenses I had incurred as a result of the manicure. Linda immediately began to talk over me, as I attempted to explain the situation. She was completely uncooperative and unreceptive. Linda insisted that I come back to the salon so that she could look at the nails herself. I explained that it is a half-hour drive away from me, and I asked if I could fax the information, such as the doctor invoice etc. She scoffed that she did not use a fax, and I would need to come in directly, with all of the paperwork. I told her I would review this, as I just visited the doctor that morning, and I would need to wait for a doctor's note, but she continue to repeat, "When will you be here? When will you be here?" I repeated that I would need to review my information, for example I needed time to make copies of my receipts and receive the doctor's note. She then angrily yelled that she had a client, she would not discuss this any further, she had insurance and a lawyer. I never mentioned a lawsuit, and I was even given the opportunity to begin discussing a refund or anything of this matter. I absolutely did not raise my voice to her or illicit such brazen unprofessionalism on her part. She then hung up on me.

I am mortified and appalled at Linda's behavior. I cannot believe that a businessperson would treat a client in this regard, particularly a client who raised a legitimate and reasonable concern in a calm manner. I am extremely disappointed by her attitude. I truly hoped this could be resolved quickly and in a tactful, professional manner. Beyond the inexcusable attitude of manager, it is of course, shocking to see this type of health risk in an established place of business. When tools of a personal nature, such as the ones used for a manicure, are not properly sanitized, it opens the door to a wide spectrum of other diseases, from sexually transmitted diseases to HIV. It is a horrifying thought that is enough to deter me from any nail salon for the indeterminate future.

Like I said, I think you're better off staying far, farrrr away.
