Rude Help!!! – I went to Taboo many times before but never to eat (What a experience). First, It was my friends birthday and we decided to eat dinner before dancing. We had a party of 7 but our table where separate because we they waiter said we couldn't put our tables together. Second, A guy came over and sat down next to me, at first I thought he was trying to holla but it turned out to be the waiter (why was his ass seating down taking our order). Third, he took the order for one table and left so one of my friends told him that he didn't get our order, he rudely told her you need to go seat down I will get their order (What negro????). Fourth, we received a ticket to get a free bottle of champagne being that it was my friend birthday, he brought over 2 glasses (7 in the party) that had spots on them, we told him about it and he grabbed the glasses off the table and rudely walked away (HOLD ME BACK!!!!). Last but not least, at the end of the night when we where leaving I asked him why he had to be so mean this BITCH ASS NEGRO walked away like we said nothing. I love the club but like other reviews the help is terrible and that is what makes your establishment good or bad. Good service means more people. Taboo, please sift threw the good employees and the bad employees and please take care of the ones that is bringing your establishment down.
People Watching, Playas & Picnics – So I cant really give this place higher than 2 stars since lounging is an artform in San Francisco/Oakland area. There was no decor to be found! There were tables with white linens around a good sized dance floor & three bars. Though we were ordering food, we still got charged a $20 entrance fee(this is not L.A.) The food was really good! I had a slice of carrot cake that was not dry and the cream cheese frosting was delicious. My companions had eggrolls(didnt try those), a fried seafood platter w/ collard greens and lumpy mashed potatoes, & shrimp w/ spinach dip. The greens were a good balalnce of vinegar & spices. I also, tasted the dip that was over the top creamy tastiness! It was served with mini toast that complimented it well. I really felt I was at someone's uncle's basement party. The crowd was 40+(or they looked it), the mix of music was good(from Maize to Too Short) & the free entertainment was just that....entertaining. You just haven't experienced life until a 40+ big girl in liquid leggings does full splits. Or a man walks by in a muscle shirt hoodie because someone forgot to tell him the Full Force look is no longer fashionable. Or the waiter is trying to clear glasses real fast so he can serve the next drink from a plastic one. Yeah...people watching is full of surprises!!
Taboo 2 – Had a party last December 2009, for my birthday at Taboo. We didn't reserve a table because when I called days ahead I was told it was first come first serve. We were given two tables and kept the food and drinks going until after two hours, they told us that we had to move because other guests were waiting for a table. Mine me, they never mentioned that to me when I called days before or when they directed us to our tables. The waitress told us that if we want to continue to sit there, we had to give her a hefty tip. WTF!!! Not to mention, we had tipped her very well and kept ordering food and drinks. Secondly, me and a friend went again last Friday, 02/19/10. Got there in plenty of time around 7:00 and I asked her if we order food and drinks do we have to give up our table after two hours, her response "no." After we ordered our food and drinks why after two hours she asked us to move and slapped the "Reserve" sign on the table.Again WTF!!! I believe in second chances but after this, I hate Taboo and the low class staff that works there. I will NEVER go back again.I much rather give my business to a multi-mix club before supporting a black establishment anytime. Management if you are reading this post, screw you and your staff and please take notes from the white clubs of running a productive business. Make you wonder why many black clubs don't last long.
Overall Great Atmosphere!! – First off they always have great options for parking and valet if you want or need it. The food and service was great and the drinks are always made right. The VIP sections are alright and the dance floor was small but I always enjoy myself every time I go. I would highly recommend Taboo 2 to anyone!
will never vist this place again – upon visiting this place for the first time with a co-worker of mine on a Friday evening, we were treated like scrap we we entered the door, by a rude employee. Spoke with a manager about it and thought it was settled, but then approached by another manager and was told to enjoy our Free Drinks and forget about the situation or we woud be excorted out the door. The bartender apolized to us, but we left the premises anway. And we wonder why Blacks don't cater to our Black business. Too much ATTITUDE!
Misrepresentation – I loved going to Taboos when I come to ATL, but this time around I can not say that. My friend and I looked on the website to see if they had any drink specails and they did. " $ 5 DIRNKS ALL NIGHT" so my friend and I went going under the imperssion that the drinks cost only$5 and not $8.25. When we got ready to pay, to our surprise the bill did not reflect that.
We got out waiter who was nice @ first said " you didn't ask" " if you would have asked I would have told you"I got the manger and he said no, I showed him the web site on my phone and said oh no,no, no that is only for our liquor. Which again the web site did not say that.
Also the waiter added his own graurity to our tab, and again on the menu stated said graurity added for 5 people or more nothing about two person table. We had the manger take it off. So when we left him no tip, he followed us out and said something to us about it. A) he shouldn't have been rude us because we questioned the bill and B) he tryed to cheat his way into a tip.
The band is and always great, the atmosphere is excellent,BUT they misrepresent themselves not only on the web site, but also on the menu. Is nor what a bussniess should do.
So if you go don't believe the website or the menu! ask , ask , and ask again.
GREAT MUSIC AMAZING BARTENDER..BEST FOOD – I WENT TO TABOO AS I ALWAYS DO THIS TIME I WAS HAVING A BAD DAY I SAT AT THE V.I.P. BAR THE BARTENSER WAS GREAT ...FUNNY AND JUST TOOK THE TIME IT SEEMS LIKE SHE REALLY CARED...I MOVED TO A TABLE WHERE I MEET A LOVELY WAITRESS WHO AGAIN GAVE 100 AND 10 % IF YOU GO GO TO THE SPANISH BARTENDER WITH THE LOnG CURLY HAIR AND THE LIGHT SKINNED WAITRESS THERE THE BEST ..ALSO I LOVE THE NEW RIBS AND WING FLAVORS I WILL BE BACK AGAIN SOON ... ALSO THEY HAVE FREE DRINKS 4 LADIES ON FRIDAY ..TONS OF CLASSY MEN AS WELL
TOO EXPENSIVE FOR AMOUNT OF FOOD – I went to taboo on a friday with two co workers- there was no where to sit- every table was reserved. We then proceeded to the bar, where we were met by a nice waiter, very nice and funny, he asked us if we needed time, we said yes. He came back twice afterwards and he took our order, then the waitress who had that station basically told him that was her area, and they got into a argument. She was very rude, came over to us and told us if he was gonna take our orders we would have to move! rude! she was in the bathroom and he had been over 3 times before he took our order, she was sleeping- you snooze you loose! mind you THERE WERE NO OTHER SEATS- my co workers were gonna move- but i made them stay- we were not moving. so both waiters got sent home, Im guessing the issue couldnt be resolved -we then got 2 more waiters- and we were all charged different for the same items we ordered. not fun. food does not equal price.
Cool Location – I have been to this bistro on one occasion for an event in a nightclub setting. It was very cool and relaxed. The people were dancing and having fun, eating, drinking and mingling all night long. I liked the overall interior of the club setup. The location is very convenient being that it is located right off 285 and easily accessible. I had a great evening at the Taboo Bistro until I left my bank card at the bar due to having a tab and being rushed out of the club on account of a friend and forgetting to close out the tab, The owner was very helpful in getting that card back to me and making sure no unauthorized charges were put on the tab. I was very grateful due to the fact that my ID was with my bank card and the rest is history. Ultimately this place is pretty cool and I would frequent it more often.
