Another Japanese joint in dowotown Bellevue – Nice deco but pricy. Could use some improvement on Udon, a basic Japanese food item and its secret is really the broth and a good noodle with texture. Should hire a good front/PR manager who would target the Microsofties and other companies in the neighborhood. The potential is definitely there.
average sushi sake is not cheap – it was pricy to order regular menu.
try their lunch special. it's really good.
Udon was not good.
Horrible service, and really not great food. Even for Bellevue – Bellevue is pretty short of half decent lunch options, and this certainly isn't one of them. I have eaten here about 5 times now, and something has always been off. Either the service is screwed up. The last time we went, a dish got missed from our order. To make it worse the server said "your dish will be right out", and it never showed up, and one of my guests went hungry.
On another occasion the service was terrible, and when we asked the waitress about it she said "sorry, we are just swamped at the moment".. Not being funny, but the place was nearly empty.
Another time the rice was so badly over cooked it was inedible. To top it off the construction and detail to the sushi rolls is poor.
I eat a lot of seafood, and a lot of sushi. This place really isn't worth talking about. The decor is cool, the service is bad, and the food really isn't worth it. You have much better Japanese food in Bellevue - Flo's for one.
Best SEABASS anywhere – Great service, will come back to try different dish on the menu. I love the SEABASS and your desert BENTO. My friend ordered the Lamp Chop, and she really enjoyed that too. The other table ordered rock shrimp that also look very interesting.
Great food. – I am very picky when it come to food, but here I can totally relax. Great tasty food with beautiful presentation. We come here with my hasband quite often.
On Sundays bottled wine is 50% off.
rumor stays true – talk about poor service. I know i can be too much, but i am very critical about service.
the term service doesn't seem to exist in their restaurant.
rumor had said that their service was HORRIBLE. i heard from 3 different parties. i didn't believe it, so i had to make a visit myself.
what do you know.
their service is absolutely BAD BAD BAD.
their place is absoultey amazing and well decorated but if the service is ridiculous, your business is not going to succeed.
they need to seriously train their employees.
why is it that i had to chase down my server throughout my whole sitting. i really didnt want to leave any tip.
its not even busy
its seriously a waste of a restaurant
with so much potential, its really sad to see how poorly managed it is.
their welcoming is horrible beginning with t he foh; hostess and manager.
why schedule servers to stand around and do nothing when there are no customers. tell them to do someting.
their food is just alright;
too bad the 2 rolls we ordered from the sushi bar came out TOO late.
never ever will i ever go there again and i will not recommend it to anyone (well until they change their management)
Great evening out – I have had the opportunity to eat twice at Yama. Both times were fabulous experiences. The food was outstanding and beautifully presented. Service was terrific. Both times, we asked our server for suggestions and we were not disappointed either time. The scallops were flavorful and melted in your mouth. The lamb was some of the best lamb I've had. Sushi was as fresh as you can find anywhere. We will definitely be back!
Best Sushi and steak I had in sometime – I been to many Japanese Restaurant, but Yama was a little different with the Asian Fusion which I thought was very different. We sat in the Tatami room and it was great, we had a lot of fun with the server that kept taklng there shoes off and on. The restaurant was modern with a Japanese feel, the service was warm and attentive, drinks were good, but really liked there extensive sake and wine list. If you have not been there you need to go.
Wonderful Service, wonderful Food – I have been to Yama's three times for dinner and once for lunch. The staff has always been wonderful, I actually had the same waitperson two different times I came in, she remembered me and had some fantastic suggestion's of new things to try.
The sushi is fresh, the presentation of all the meals are beautiful,- the scallops melted my mouth, the steaks were cooked to perfection, the lamb oozes with flavor. I think between my husband and myself we have tried almost everything on the menu and have not found one thing we would not order again.
Yama's is definitely a place we will come back to again and again.
An upscale Bellevue crowd comes to this French/Asian fusion spot for unique business lunches and a great happy hour. – In Short
A wide variety of seating ensures is spread over the cavernous, meticulously decorated space: U-shaped red booths and low tatami tables work well for groups, while singles can mingle at the window sushi bar or in the main lounge. Menu items combine Asian flavors with French cooking styles; miso crepes filled with Gruyere and beef tenderloin with a "truffleyaki" (truffle and teriyaki) sauce sit side-by-side with a long list of rolls and sashimi.
