After my first time, I should have known better but I gave it a second try & it was even worse. The food is mediocre at best. It is the TERRIBLE customer service that really sets this place apart. First time, I asked for a specific item (tomatoes) to be left off my order. When it arrived (35 minutes later & they weren't busy), there were tomatoes on it. Usually no big deal, but the waitress refused to do anything about it. My friend ordered a meal & she received something completely different. When she said it wasn't what she ordered, the waitress told her that yes, it was. She even brought out the chef to tell her that was what she ordered. She didn't like the meal that she DID NOT order but was forced to eat and pay for it.
Second visit I ordered something else that also came with tomatoes so I asked for it with no tomatoes. When it arrived, it again had tomatoes on it. I said I didn't want them on my food so she said she'd have it remade. After 10 minutes or so, she came back & said the chef was too busy to remake it but she'd make it herself. When it finally arrived, it was obviously not made right & other items that were supposed to be on the dish was left off. But since I was hungry and knew it would take forever to fix, I didn't say anything but I didn't enjoy my meal.
After we were done eating, our waitress was nowhere to be found so I asked someone else that worked there for a to-go box. She brought one that was not big enough to hold all of the leftovers so I asked her for another one. She said no, only one per customer. WHAT??!!! If I have food to take home, I'd like a to-go box that fits it all or a 2nd box. I said fine, charge me for the second box but please bring me one. She brought one the size of a to-go sauce container. I handed it back & said I needed one that would fit my food, please bring me another to-go box. She actually made a face & a rude noise at me & stalked off. It was very offensive and I can guarantee I will not be going back to be treated like that again.
Bottom line: The food was not good, the food was not prepared properly and the service is the worst in the city.
Not happy with the service... – My wife and I had been here several times so were not first timers, we liked it before or we wouldn't have gone back. Last night the food was really good, but the customer service was really lacking! The other thing was that they had live entertainment that moved around the dinning room and he was so loud you couldn't talk or enjoy your meal. Some great customers must have come in at one table, because the whole staff spent a great deal time making sure all of their needs were met and very few of ours. No refills, no asking us how our meal was no nothing... sad to say I don't think we'll be going back!
okay food, rude bartender – Typical Americanized Mexican food, weak drinks, and a bartender with a serious attitude problem.
Good Crowd, Excellent Location, Really Bad Food – I love Mexican food and having grown in Los Angeles I am totally spoiled by the delicious Mexican food LA has to offer. This place is usually always busy in the evenings and specially summer evenings because they have a patio where you can enjoy the cool Summer evenings in Seattle. Ive been here twice now, the first time I visited them, I was really expecting the food to be excellent considering their prices and crowd. I should have known from the moment I was handed the picture menu that this was going to be one of those places you go to for Happy Hour where you don't really care what the food tastes like. Their portions are average but the flavor of their food is not so lucky. Basically overpriced, overcooked, cheap ingredients slapped together more for the appearance than the taste.
If you really want some good Mexican, check out Tacos Guaymas at the Alaska Junction, possibly the best salsa bars I have ever encountered.
My recommendation... go for the drinks then hop in your car and drive over to Guaymas for some real food.
The Best Mexican Food Around – This is truely a hidden gem among Mexican restaurants. I am a connoisseur of Mexican food and have dined at Mexican restaurants in many places. The food and drinks are excellent and authentic, full of great flavor. The service is like being welcomed in to the family. If you are looking for a quieter atmosphere, Monday through Wednesday nights are great, but any night of the week you will find great food made by a chef that truely cares what his patrons think.
The best family owned Mexican Restaurant in West Seattle-FAUNTLEROY AREA – Friendly family owned mexican restaurant in West Seattle. Food is always fresh and the price is decent. The Maragarita's are delicious! If you are new to West Seattle, you won't find this Guadalajara on the main drag. Guadalajara is SW of the Ferry dock. Don't be confused the one one on California Ave is not even close to the same food or customer service...thay are mountains apart and not in the same league. I love the Taco Salad and the burritos are big enough for two! Great food and value-highly reccomend it.
BEST MEXICAN RESTAURANT IN TOWN! – Guadalajara is the perfect Mexican restaurant. The food is OUSTANDING (and I'm picky), it's local, a great enviorment, and the owners and staff are awesome. There is always a smiling face there to say hello to you, usually the owner and cook, who is an awesome, funny guy. The place is never full and it's super easy to get a table any time. There's awesome chips and salsa, and you can order drinks as soon as you walk in. There is a huge menu to choose from, whether it be tacos, fajitas, or a simple hamburger if you want. I don't think there is an item on the menu that is not great. You get your food very quickly, because they aren't ever really that full. The meal is ALWAYS outstanding, and the people are very friendly all the time. You have to love this place. I really suggest you check it out. Remember, it's right next to the ferry, so if you're just coming in or about to leave, go on down there. I'm there at least once a week. IT'S GREAT!
