Not good...not good at all – I was excited to take my friend for her first try at Southern cooking. I showed up expecting to find Caspers but found it had a new owner. I thought, "what the heck, let's give it a go"...

The kitchen was in a panic. It seemed nobody knew what was going on...the credit card machine wasn't working, the new management was on the phone sorting that out and the son of the new owner told me...they thought it was a good idea to opt not to renew Casper's lease, but now...maybe not such a good decision, and a few more unflattering bits as to how they thought they would be successful.

Anyway, we ordered our food. I ordered catfish (you would think pretty easy, yes?) and my friend ordered the ribs. My catfish came out cajun style even though I ordered them regular as the menu stated. When I sent them back, I had to tell the cook how to make them regular style with just cornmeal. My hushpuppies looked like Sammy Davis Jr's testicles. I didn't eat them. The second batch of catfish came out looking very scorched and sad. I compare the color to dark walnut. Inside, the fish was still raw. It appears they let the oil get way too hot to fry. Needless to say, I spent 15.00 for a palatable cup of diet pepsi. My friend's ribs were dry, her hushpuppies were burned but she was starving so she choked it down. I tossed mine and went to Wendy's.

If the food wasn't enough to keep me from coming back a second time, the way they talked badly about Casper was.

Good luck.

Tough ribs, dry hot link. Didn't care for it – I try to keep a positive attitude and continue to try as many bbq joints as I can find but time after time the bbq is simply mediocre.

Fats was no different, perhaps even less than average on this day.

My order: 1/2 slab of pork ribs with a potato salad side and add a hot link. No beverage

Total: $15.50

The ribs were chewy, far from the juicy falling-off-the-bone kind that it takes to make me a regular. The flavor of the sauce was decent with a reasonable amount of heat. A lot of smoke flavor.

The hot link was nasty, so dry it didn't even look like meat.

This is the only time I've tried the joint and even the best places can show some variability from time to time. It was late in the day on a saturday which could account somewhat for the condition of the hot link. But I think any joint that can get their ribs right can also do it consistently so I'm not inclined to give Fat's another chance unless it's on someone else's dime.

Being thoroughly unsatisfied I went straight from Fat's to a little taqueria for some tacos asada to help quench my hunger.

Kansas Style BBQ in North Seattle – I was looking for a good BBQ joint in North Seattle and it fits the bill perfectly. Located on Bothell Everett highway (SR 522), it?s an easy-to- miss place, a small shop tucked right behind a coffee shop.

Ribs are moist and succulent. I love their BBQ sauce which is not too sweet although not as spicy as Pecos Pit BBQ in Downtown Seattle. Loved their sides, Baked Beans have a spicy kick to them; potato salad is refreshing and mild to cleanse palate of the spiciness. They also serve coleslaw, mac and cheese and sweet potato side. I have been eyeing their loaded potatoes but never got past their finger licking BBQ pulled sandwiches. They also have the best hotlinks I ever had, crispy on outside and spicy inside.

Easy to miss (if u are not looking for it) but hard to forget, I am there almost twice a week. I would have been there more but they usually close by 7 and Sunday?s off too.

Boy, thinking about it and my mouths started watering again?yum yum yum
