Wonderful Apartments! – We love living here at Gatehouse Apartments. Most the people we have met here are long term tenants who have lived here years and years.
I don't understand any of the negative reviews, as we or anyone we know here have run into any of those problems.
The interiors are beautiful. The grounds are kept up very nicely. Parking is never a problem. There are plenty of guest spaces. The staff is extremely accommodating and very friendly. Maintenance shows up almost immediately upon reporting an issue in your apartment. The apartments are gated and we have never had an issue with safety and have always felt very, very safe living here. The prices are very competitive.
We love living here and hate to ever leave. It is by far, the best apartment community we have ever lived in. It feels like a condo. I really, really love it!
Nantucket Bay Tampa, Florida and Gatehouse Management not good stewards – As a resident I think it unfortunate that Nantucket Bay and Gatehouse Management, Inc are so unresponsive to the needs of its tenants. Despite numerous requests and complaints they continually fail to maintain even minimum standards of compliance with State and Local Health, Fire and Safety Codes. Our residents Council and individual residents, for years, have repeatedly asked that numerous violations be addressed only to be laughed at and/or ignored until Code Enforcement or the Fire Marshall are summoned and then only reluctantly comply.
The pool constantly suffers from poor or no maintenance, many pieces of pool furniture are broken or damaged and covered with mold, whole sections of the property are left unlighted due to poor maintenance, mold in some walls of units, old, dirty carpeting, peeling and stained bathroom
floors, no rain gutters on all but one building, damaged or removed landscaping never replaced or replanted, Clubhouse closed every evening and weekends leaving residents no place to socialize except outside, regardless of the elements, which is what management recommends we do.
You cannot have internet in your unit without getting cable and Nantucket Bay charges an additional $48 a month over Brighthouse Networks standard internet and cable fees for the privilege. Washer and Dryers will cost you $40 additional each month if you want them in your unit. They do not regularly change your heat and air conditioning filters even of you request it. You must go to the office to get one and then change it yourself.
In spite of advertising to the contrary, there are no management sponsored activities, computer classes or special social events for the residents. In reality management has a history of being very offensive, rude and demeaning in its dealings with the residents. Nantucket Bay and Gatehouse Management, Inc., headquartered in Mansfield, Massachusetts, are in the business of warehousing seniors for profit only.
GATEHOUSE ... STAY AWAY!!! – Gatehouse apt might not look so bad.... BUT they have the worst management ever!!!!! The person in the office is rude; cocky and hates her job. I left the complex because of her attitude. It was horrible. My neighbors agreed and had tons of complaints. This lady will talk to you in a negative way and smile. When we rented out the apt a year ago we had 2 complaints before signing the lease; the window was broken and dishwasher did not work. Her reply was "You are too picky , move to another apartment. These apartments are old. You might need to research into a new contruction." I thought maybe she was having a bad day, well she has a bad day everyday. I researched this apt before leasing with them and found that everyone had complaints about managment. I should of listened.
Evil-est landlords in LA – When HUD took over the FEMA rent assistance program for folks who lost their houses in Katrina, Gatehouse Apartments in Metairie really screwed people over. They refused to work with HUD but they made these poor folks keep their leases. These folks lost everything! They're trying to get back on their feet with scarce jobs, lost homes and cars, lost loved ones that died or are still missing.

" Gatehouse was prepared to transfer about 20 families participating in the FEMA program into the HUD program; the tenants even met with HUD case-workers. But then Gatehouse officials read the new contract with HUD, which requires compliance with HUD's Housing Quality Standards and forbids eviction of the tenants if HUD withholds rent payments for violations of the standards. Gatehouse sent a letter to the tenants notifying them that it wouldn't participate in the program once HUD takes over, but their existing leases would remain in force. "
Compliance with quality standards!?! Hell no! NOT Gatehouse. They will not meet standards. That is because they are taking advantage of every displaced old person they can find. The apartments are not nice. They aren't clean when people move in. The rent is very high. And if the fridge doesn't work, they ain't gonna fix it for you. But HUD won't pay the rent if they don't fix your toilet or fridge. So they won't work with HUD but they're sure gonna hold those folks to their leases. That is just mean and nasty!
