I was parking at LaSalle Park yesterday when I noticed smoke coming from under my hood. I noticed across the parking lot an AAMCO repair shop. I went over to the shop and asked the manager if he could have someone look at my car. He gathered my info and had a mechanic inspect my car. The mechanic, Harold, told me that I had a busted hose. I inquired with the manager about the repair and how quick it could be done. He said with all of the parts and labor the cost would be under $200 dollars and they could have it done within a hour. Well I agreed. As Zach (the manager) promised, the car was completed within the hour and the total bill including tax was $189. This is great, someone who keeps their commitments.
I've brought two of my vehicles, my daughter's 93 Mustang and my 05 Camry, to Aamco, and both of my experiences were beyond positive for several reasons: Paul is knowledgeable, and what he doesn't know, he knows how to find out. I had follow-through from him and Bobby like I've never had follow-through from another shop. The people there treated me - and one another - with respect and courtesy. Paul took the time to teach me and my daughter what was wrong with our vehicles and what our options were; he allowed us to make all decisions rather than making repairs and then charging. The price quoted was exactly what I paid - no surprises! I have found my auto shop and don't plan to bring my vehicles anywhere else.
I bought a Groupon too but it seems like I had a complexly different experience. I made an appointment but I was a hour late. The manager Bobby took my in car immediately and I was finished within 45mins. They had free Internet access so I was able to surf the net on my pad while my car was worked on. Before I knew it my car was finished.
I also spoke to Booby about buying another oil change coupon but found out that the Groupons were never agreed to by Aamco. Bobby said that the owner of the shop agreed to honor the Groupons so as not to upset customers. He also said that the store has not received any kind of reimbursements. Even though I am not able to buy another oil change coupon I will be back. I recommend these guys.
Bought a Groupon (buy 1 oil change get 2 free) - Been here twice. Each time I've been here I've had to wait over 2 hours for an oil change. The first time I came I had to reschedule because they couldn't fit me in, even though I had an appointment. The second time I came, I waited two hours because they didn't have the correct filter or oil for my oil change, which I made an appointment for in advance and gave them my car info so they could be prepped. During this second trip, I told them I had to leave by X time (gave them an hour longer after waiting 45 mins) and they continued to lie to me about when my car would be ready. I ultimately had to reschedule a meeting because they drained my oil before they even had the supplies and I was stranded. If I didn't have a free Groupon I wouldn't use these guys for an oil change.
I was in Metaire and I noticed I needed an oil change. Since I had a great experience at the Slidell Aamco location I decided to go to AAMCO on Hickory Ave. I had another great experience. The manager Bobby, took care of me immediately. I was in and out of the shop within 30 mins. People were friendly and all the work was performed professionally.
Professionals – These guys are great. I perform most of my repair work on my F-350 4x4 (aka Black Beauty), but I had a rear and front differential installed into my truck by a buddy of mine. What a mistake. My friend and I , installed the differentials 3 different times, and never got them installed correctly. A different friend of mine recommended bring my truck over to AAMCO on Airline. He highly recommended these guys. The new differentials had to be replaced because of improper installation. Jon, at AAMCO, had the differentials installed within a day. The best thing was that it took one time to install the new gears. I should have went to AAMCO the first time. I learned my lesson. There are some things that needed to be performed by professionals. These guys are deffinitely professionals. I highly recommend these guys.
Brake Problems – I heard a noise and a bump when my car shifted in my 2004 Nissan Maxima. The first shop I went too said it was the transmission body (something like that) and I needed a new transmission. I felt a little uncomfortable about the explanation so I decided I wanted a second opinion. A friend recommended Paul at AAMCO near Airline Hwy. I took her recommendation and went to AAMCO. They explained that I needed brakes (the noise in the front end) and a front transmission mount. I dropped the car off this morning prepared for the shop to come back with more problems. I just left the shop and nope, the bill was as promised. My Nissan is back to her old self. I Highly recommend this shop.
Great People – I went into the Ford dealership wanting a transmission flush (my car was not having any problems. This was a maintence service my husband said I needed.) on my 2004 Ford Crown Victoria. The service manager said that my transmission was bad and I needed a new one. He said it would cost about $3200. He also said that I would be lucky to make it home so I should have the work performed immediately. I called my husband and he said to get a second opinion. I remember passing by the AAMCO on Airline and Hickory AVE a few times so I went there for a second opinion. Being a lady I expected that I would go into the AAMCO and have the same diagnosis explained to me by Ford. To my surprise that did not happen. Once my car was inspected, Don the manager stated that I had a leaking transmission. He said he could fix it for $125, which included a transmission service. The work was performed last Tuesday and my car still works great! I recommend this place.
Great People – I had problems with my 1988 Mustang 5 speed transmission getting it to go into gear. I went to the other national chain and they told me that I needed a rebuilt transmission with a $2500 price tag. I decided I wanted a second opinion so I brought it to AAMCO. It turned out that the transmission was fine but the master cylinder (part of the clutch) was leaking. Don, the manager, had my car repaired within 3 hours for $432. Reliable and fast service, what a combination tell them Phil sent you!!
Trustful – Just picked up my truck and it runs great. My 1993 GMC Suburban K2500 had stopped shifing. First gear only. My regular mechanic advised I take it to a transmission repair. I chose AAMCO on Hickory after reading the reviews left on city search.
I spoke with Don on the phone, the manager, and felt comfortable after talking with him to let them check it out, and then do the work. He advised it could be electrical problem, or, the tranny it's self. I was advised they would check the electrical first and call me. Don said it needed the electrical work and quoted me a price for the job Turns out it was was an electrical problem. The quote was spot on, and they were very fair on the over all price and did not pad the bill with labor. My car runs great. Shifting nicely, running nicely and I am happy to say that this is a very fair repair shop. Got my truck back in a few days. I would recommend to family & friends. Good Job Guys. Thank You!
