If you're sitting there now, just leave. – So I just drove there all the way from Newport News (50 min drive) It's a Saturday night at 6:20pm....from the outside this place looked real nice. Walked up the steps and into the door, and that's when everything changed. It was a ghost town. Maybe 3 of the tables in the whole place had people in them, which was puzzling for a Saturday night in Chesapeake by the mall at Christmas time. Got sat immediately and ordered a beer. (one positive is they have plenty of alcohol for you to drink so you can hopefully forget about this place) We ordered nachos as an appetizer and I got the pulled pork sandwich, my friend got a Philly steak, and his wife ordered a bacon cheeseburger. We were sitting there waiting, attempting to watch the tiny 19'' TVs they have hanging about 20ft off the ground, while 3/6 in my visible range had an error message from Directv (probably because they couldn't afford to pay the bills) 30 min goes by and still no food, not even the nachos. So we start looking up reviews on the place, which makes perfect sense in hindsight. Found maybe 1 positive review out of the 30 or so we read. So now the food comes, and we ask the waitress where the nachos were at, and she said, "Oh you did order those huh? Do you want them?" So we we're already pissed at this point, only having 1 beer which was empty and finally getting the food, we say no. I grab one of my fries and I swear to you that it was colder then room temperature, and stale like a saltine cracker sat out of its wrapper for 4 hours. I tell the waitress about the fries so she offers me another plate of fries stating that "Ya I know the kitchen sucks" Then I decide to test the temperature of the BBQ sandwich, I peel the stale top bun off and the gray tasteless BBQ was staring me in the face practically begging me to throw it in the microwave or trash. I'm fairly sure that they scooped it from a container from the refrigerator straight onto the bun and served it like that. I almost gagged. Told my waitress that even the sandwich is freezing. She offered a new plate, so I agree. 2 mins later she comes out with the same plate, I can tell because my fingerprint was still in the BBQ sandwich. Still fairly cold but edible. The BBQ had absolutely no taste, my buddy's Philly cheesesteak was just microwaved steakum slices and non melted cheese, and his wife had raw bacon on top of a previously frozen meat patty. At this point we had enough and just left. On the way home I picked up chickfila and had a much better dinner. Waste of time, I have no idea how they are still open.
Why would you even – This place is a mess literally from top to bottom. Unprofessional management and staff. Unclean facility.
Disappointment and discuss await the unwary. Luckaly my group of friends and I were spared having to order as the prevailing atmosphere of the place prevented us from staying. My friends and I found this place unfriendly and were offended by the overt racism displayed in our presence. We will NEVER return there! And I can't imagine why anyone reading this would bother with such a place when there many others that deliver with enjoyment. Life is too short and this place should be avoided by all.
Waste of Time – When this place first opened in Chesapeake I thought it was outstanding. I went there several times with my family and really enjoyed. The food was excellent, wait staff was great. My friends and I used to go on Friday evenings but the service got progressively worse. Because of the decline in service and food there was a long period of time when I refused to go there but thought I would give it another chance. My opinion remains. They should shut the doors on this place!
Paradocks is a "Paradox": Absurdity – The cavernous dining hall is quasi-Disney World and warehouse-like. The food was poorly prepared (warm, soggy, oily fish 'n chips). Portions were rediculously small and served in low class cardboard containers. If Paradocks is still in business by the end of the year, I'd be amazed. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.
the name should change to parasucks – we had booked a party there on a saturday night, poor customer service the wait was unreal, food tasteless, will never go back.
Cannot judge this book by it's cover....horrible food and tasteless service – This restaurant held much promise but completely failed to live up to my expectations. I dined for lunch with a friend and we both thought the experience so horrible to the point of being laughable. The hostess was rather robotic but the worst part was the most important part, the food! We ordered a selection of appetizers to share and each a bowl of She Crab Soup. The soup was so salty and watery it was painful to eat. The Tuna Bites literally tasted like dog food (well, what we think dog food would taste like anyway) and made me want to gag. The crab cake sandwich bites were lacking any seasoning or sauce and again were salty. The lumpia were not good but we ate them anyway out of shear starvation. To top it off the entire meal was served on paper plates and our soup and drinks in styrofoam, and we rarely saw our server. Thank God we ordered the heavenly cupcake for desert----and only because we were still so hungry it was either order desert or find a drive-thru on our way back to work. What I thought would be a nice girl's lunch out ended up a classic party story!
If you want to be treated like you are NOT welcome or wanted go to Paradocks in Chesapeake, VA on friday around 8:30 pm. – My family and I drove all the way from Virginia Beach to Chesapeake to try this restaurant; we had a coupon from The Hampton Roads Area Entertainment coupon book. When we arrived we were pleased to see there was not a long line off people outside. We parked and I open my door and dinged it on these blocks that they have stacked 3 high to create a garden. Lucky for me my car had a protective panel at the bottom otherwise I would have had a nice dent in my car. Once we get inside we have to wait about 5 minutes for the host to show up and seat us. We requested a booth - we get to the booth and it?s dirty so the host cleans the table and we sit down. I will spare you the details of our ten minute conversation as we wait for a server to come and greet us and get our drinks. So at the tenth minute I go back to the host's counter and request to see the manager. The manager comes and I explain that I have traveled like 25 minutes to come and try this restaurant. He asks me where I was sitting and offered me a free appetizer. He said that he would get someone over there right away and told me to order what we like and he would take care of it. (What ever that means) So as I am walking back to my table I can see him talking to a waitress that had been working a table with a party of six close by... she comes over with an attitude... or at least I felt she had one. She came over and said "what do you want?" not ?Welcome... please excuse us for the mix up.". A smile would have been warm also. Anyhow she took our order then she fell off of the earth... seven minutes later still nothing to drink at our table. So after 17 minutes of our lives wasted... my family and I left. We ended up eating at Red Robin's - that wasn't too far away. I do not know what was going on at Paradock's that night however I do know that I would never step foot in their establishment again and I would tell my friends and family to avoid eating there too.
