A lovely neighborhood restaurant from James Beard award winning chef, Maria Hines. Her ever-changing menu reflects the commitment to sustainability. It's one of the few certified organic eateries on the West Coast, but diners might not even be aware of that because flavor is the No. 1 priority in this kitchen. There are also tasting menus created for vegans and gluten-sensitive guests. The food's beautiful, the service polished and professional and the dining room in this refurbished craftsman home is comfortable and inviting. What a great experience!

Miniscule portions! – If you're hungry or have a healthy appetite, this is not the place for you. The food portions are absolutely teeny, but the price is still for a full plate. I've never seen such small portions in my life - doll food. The food itself is tasty and the atmosphere is homey, but one person will need to buy 6 plates and around $100 worth of food just to get a normal sized meal. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Overrated – Great atmosphere and interesting menu but I couldn't agree more with Frank Bruni's comments about self satisfaction and what appeared to be a serving staff disinterested in listening to their customers and making them feel welcome. - Seems like the write ups and hype have gone to their heads which will likely deter me from going back. We did enjoy the server Joseph (AKA ? Keith Richards) and hope they look to hire more people like him.

Friendly and great food! – We went for brunch and the Croque Monsueir and the French Toast was fanstastic! They were a bit busy when we go there, but told us they'd be ready for us in 30 minutes. we went for a walk and they were ready for us!

A little different and I loved it. – Thought the food was sophisticated and the servers very knowledgeable about the food and wine. This place is a little different in that you can order small sampling portions or full size entree portions. For a foody, this is ideal- you get to sample serveral delights. I would disagree with some other reviews- I didn't find the food to be bland at all...I thought it was spectactular..and I'm picky! Atmosphere is comfortable, cozy and not pretentious at all. If they have risotto on the menu- absolutely do not miss it! The menu is inventive and changes monthly/seasonally.

average food with exorbitant prices – the venue is cute and cozy, nice for a date but the food was really bland. the descriptions are wonderful and anticipation based on the menu and service was high but both dishes (fish and pork belly) and our salad really really lacked flavor. just like the other reviewers said... and the prices are sky high!!! poor value for the price. good service though

a wonderful treat! – After several attempts to get into Tilth "on the fly", I finally got wise and began making reservations. My husband and I just had our second visit there this past weekend. Well, again it was wonderful. The food is fantastic, but of course, any fine restaurant experience is much more than that. The service is stellar and the people who run it are very knowlegeable of the food and the wine they serve. I would love to give Tilth 5 stars but I did not do so only because feel it is a tad pricey for what you actually get, quantity wise. I'm not saying I need a ton of food (at only 115 lbs), but even after enjoying the BEST tuna dish I had ever had (most fresh, to say the least) I woke up hungry the next morning, which is very rare for me. Our waiter was great and threw in a few nice extra delights (ginger carrot juice and a tiny bit of panna-cotta) so the evening was a very memorable one overall. I highly recommend Tilth to anyone who enjoys truly pure food and taste, and has the money to afford a treat every once in a while. Enjoy!

Very good food, but a cold decor – The food was great. The risotto spectacular. The Cassoulet , tagliatelle, artisanal cheeses, Top Sirloin, bread, and desserts and wine were really good. The staff was very nice.

My only complaint is the decor. The cold and stark whiteness, the Ikea like tables and chairs...not so great. Seems that the fireplace has bookshelves on each side of it that have been covered up with white painted plywood. It's be great looking with a fire, bookshelves that were used, and some color in the room to warm it.

ORGANIC and DELICIOUS – I had dinner for the first time at Tilth recently and wasn't disappointed! I had great expectations since everyone I knew that had already been said it was terrific. One person said service was slow, and they were correct. Our waiter was slammed but he got through it just fine. It's not a "turn 'em and burn 'em" kind of place. We tried several salads, appetizers, entrees and desserts, they were all tasty and beautifully presented. Thank goodness there wasn't any pretentious "foam" on our plates. I'm raving about Tilth to friends and family. I also love that the chef is a talented woman that operates her own business. Well done!

Tilth: too much pretension and not worth the money. – So we had heard rave reviews about this restaurant, and thought it would be a great place to take my health conscious partner and her parents. We?re not afraid of dropping some cash at a nice restaurant if the food merits it. Tilth, sadly, did not merit it.

As much as it pains me to say anything bad about any company supporting local agriculture and organic foods, Tilth fell far short of my expectations.

The only thing that was okay was the French toast. Unique flavors and very moist.

As for the rest?

Orange Juice ? not fresh squeezed, very Tropicana.

Salmon hash ? salmon undercooked, portion far too small for the price.

Cinnamon roll ? imagine two small cookie like rolls, except very dry and hard.

Granola ? yogurt with 4 thin sour apple wedges, and ? cup of crunchy (like chip your tooth crunchy) granola for $7! Give me a break.

Maybe brunches are Tilth?s weak point. However, I believe it is only fair to them and to others to know that not everyone received the 4.5 star experience.

Fabulous Brunch! – I have been into Brunch a few times and after checking out all the brunch places in the Queene Anne, Belltown areas, this I'd have to say was a nice change of pace...

This is the perfect Brunch place to bring friends and family, or even the Seattle Times or a good book; I've come both Saturday and Sundays and both days have a different feel. If you want to feel like you have the place to yourself, Saturday is the day to come. If you want to feel the buzz, come on Sunday.

The food is phenomonal; everything was perfectly seasoned and the fresh scones we started of with were still warm and even more scrumptious with the house made lemon curd! I have had the smoked salmon hash after a morning run and felt like a made a healthy choice, yet a delicious, uncompromising taste!

I also have splurged on the grand marnier french toast for my sweet tooth and the croque madame (add the fried egg please!) for my hangover mornings. I love this place! I think I'm addicted to taking the trip to Wallingford every weekend and just feeling like I've escaped from the city just a little bit.
