Everyone seems like they have something bad to say about this establishment, and although I could potentially understand why I don't agree with any of it.
There is SO much opportunity with the company. Many people who waste time posting negative things on here about "not getting paid" or feeling deceived just didn't work hard enough. I conduct interviews here and I tell everyone what the job entails. We USED TO have ignorant job recruiters here who used to lie about how much new associates would make, or dodge the fact we display and sell Kirby Vacuums. As the new recruiter I tell every new person that during the interview.
You didn't "try" Kirby.
Kirby "tried" you. This company and product has been around for 99 years. If you don't think its a good business to work for you're crazy.
great place to work – I see a lot of bad reviews; however, I don't understand all the negativity. I've worked for DC & Co for just under a year... It has been a lot of fun, paid well and very rewarding. Thanks DC...
i would like to know why kirby lies to get people to work for them. im sure that alot of people have been lied to as have i. long hours and no pay unless you sell... you would be better off finding a regular 9-5 then trying to get into peoples houses that dont want you there in the first place. my lie was that i would be cleaning carpets... another was told they would be put on salary... stop the lies and come clean... the vacuums are very good but the way these people come to you is BS
Kirby Vacuum Sales – Deceitful to prospective employees and no less for potential clients. ALL the bad reviews are real and the 1 or 2 good reviews are written by "Amy" (or what ever name she uses this week because same lady has a different name on all the job ads) the receptionist.

How could you NOT feel misguided. That says you are covering. THEY REFUSED to tell me the job description even though I asked SEVERAL times. They will STILL do it today if you call and ask. Go ahead and prove me wrong. Call them right now. They'll say "we discuss that in the interview. HAHA Interview? You dont get one!!! They put you in a room FULL of unsuspecting job seekers and then Douchey Dale comes out bragging about a shitty Cadillac he drives. If you straight up ask if you have to sell something the lady in front will avoid the question. You can't deny that. Now they spam the job ads saying they have many positions but they ONLY HAVE 1. SALES.
Strongarm Faggots – This company is very deceiving for sure. Not to mention arrogant as hell. To the uneducated person who wrote the only positive review (TAR2511) you are even dumber than the person who spelled VACUME! "In KNOW way did i feel...." wow you really don't need an education to sell "VACUMES". hahha. Anyways. i went for the training and was somewhat excited..... the first "practice" weekend i was there, i got some disturbing news about a family member who has to have a cancerous growth removed and was completely caught off guard and upset having no history of cancer in my family. it didnt even take 3 days before they had some thug call one of my emergency contacts (who by the way was the one who got sick). I mean i basically made my mind up when i saw how white trash the employees are and what a dork the owner is, but this crossed the line. If you get a call offering free carpet cleaning, or they offer to save you money AND keep your house clean.... tell them you'll think about it! they love that. hahahahah.
Dale you're a douche, and all of your wrinkly-shirt-tooth-missing-white-trash "employees" will follow u off a cliff. Mission accomplished! Do u think your pants can be pulled any higher or skin turn any oranger?

Nothing is for free...not even a carpet cleaning – There is a price that you pay for everything, and the cost of a free carpet cleaning is a sitting through a high pressure sales pitch for Kirby Vaccuum.
A young man came to my door and told me that they were doing a drawing and awarding $1000 to someone. This drawing was an attempt to get their name out to the community. A few days later, I was called and told that I won a free carpet cleaning. I'll admit, I was dumb enough to fall for it.
I was told that they would be providing me with a free cleaning, and that there would be no obligation to buy anything. They were doing this to get their name out and hope that I would keep them in mind for the future and perhaps recommend them to my friends and family.
The young man arrived at my door promptly at his scheduled time. He explained that there was no charge for the cleaning, and requested the names and phone numbers of 10 friends who may be interested in a cleaning as well. He would be able to get paid for his trip to my house if he got the leads from me. At this point, I didn't see the harm in helping him spread the word on his carpet cleaning business. The problem was that it wasn't a carpet cleaning business but a Kirby Vaccuum sales business.
He was very polite, and showed me his product, a Kirby Vaccuum. I was very impressed by what the Kirby could do, but I was not in the market to purchase a $2400 vaccuum cleaner. He did offer me some discounts (bringing the cost down to $1395), and some financing options. I explained that I was not going to purchase a vaccuum no matter what.
He put his boss on the phone to try to close the deal, and I promptly shut him down as well. My free carpet cleaning had turned into a high pressure sales pitch lasting nearly two hours.
I was very happy with the looks of my carpet, but I was irritated that they got into my house under false pretenses. The next day I found out that one of my friends had been called by DC and Co. and told that I had gotten them a gift certificate for a free carpet cleaning. This was a a bold faced lie and they were using my name to gain the trust of others. I immediately called the company and expressed my feelings and was told by their representative that they would pull my referrals and discontinue the calls. Another lie...my mother was called later in the evening.
Luckily, I got through to all of my friends to warn them about the company. While the young man who visited me was very nice, and a good salesman, he is working for a very crooked company. Just remember that nothing is free!!!

I think the main scam of this company is the training, making you go out to practice selling Kirby cleaners on your family and friends hoping someone will buy one at a ridiculously overpriced amout coz the are you friends or your mother who wants to see you do well.
But when it comes to selling in the field you realize that to get a sale they will drop $500 of the price you sold it to your mom. AHH poor old moms.
They advertise they pay by the hour CRAP, if you do manage to sell anything and divide by the amount of hours you work minus gas money maybe you will get $2 an hour if your lucky. OH and one last thing, Dont go out and get leads for new customers thinking you will have a crack at the whip, they will just take them and give them to someone else, I had leads that were almost certainties and they didnt send me, well they wanted me.....AHHHH well DC your loss.
D.C & Company saved me – I applied with D.C. & Company over 2 years ago. I went to the orientation, and the two day training program, and in know way did I feel deceived or misguided. They are all very professional and they are a great company to work for. They didn’t drop any “bombs” on me, nor did they try to pull a fast one on me. I can’t tell you how many weeks I’ve made over $800 or more. D.C. & Company have helped provide for my family, and keep all my bills paid. It’s a great career opportunity and I would recommend it for anyone. They are a company where the skies the limit. If I want to make money, I can. I feel the people who knock this company are narrow minded and just couldn’t handle the job. Which, for those people, I feel sorry for, maybe a fast food chain is a better fit for you. Obviously your high school education, or should I say lack there of is failing you. We spell V-A-C-U-U-M.. Not V-A-C-U-M-E. If you want to try to insult a company and their mission, learn how to spell. Otherwise, all you are is a joke, and that just goes to show you weren’t intelligent enough to handle the situation
BEWARE EMPLOYMENT SEEKERS – If you are looking for legitimate employment...BEWARE of this company! You will be given a bait and switch. You will be trying to sell the outrageously expensive Kirby vacuum. They will NOT TELL YOU THIS until you have spent the time and gas to go to an "orientation". Then they drop the "Kirby" bomb.
beware the call that "you have won". – I was entered in a drawing by an employee of D.C. & Co. A few days later I received a call informing me I had been selected and have won a free carpet cleaning. I assumed this company provided a service similar to Stanley Steamer and the like, but when the company representative came to my door I realized I had been set up for an in home demo of a carpet cleaning system. While I do love the Kirby vacume I feel the system D.C. & Co. uses is deceptive and the vacume, though a good product, is incredibly expensive. If D.C. and Co. wants to enter you in a "drawing" just say no thanks.
