Ultimate Pampering – I felt very warmly welcomed upon arrival. The waiting room was tranquil and had plenty of reading material but didn't appear cluttered as many waiting rooms do. The tea service and flavored water was also a nice addition. Every treatment I have had I left me feeling relaxed rejuvenated and recharged..which is optimal since I live at hectic pace. I also loved the selection of skincare lines,candles,make-up and teas so I can continue feeling great when I am not at the spa. I highly recommend this spa as opposed others because of the luxurious and tranquil setting as well as personalized service
the WOW... experience I had – After my stressful week at work I decided to choose Townhouse Spa to spend my relax weekend. I am a spa addict that i will get all my spa service done once a week but i have not find a WOW spa untill this weekend that i tried townhouse.
I choosed Signature package there which includes facial massage and mani pedi. When I get to spa i decided to add some wax appiontment which was a great choice that i made. the wax with SUNNY was painless. and my massage was unforgetably great.
I have to tell you that my skin looks great after my facial, within a day i had 3 people said my skin looks glowing which have not happened for a long time. Townhouse spa from now on will be my monthly visit place and it totally worth of the $ that you pay for.
BTW~they have a nice aromatherapy steam for you to use before and after the steam. and the staff is defeinitely well trained/experienced.
CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD STATEMENT PROPERLY!!!!! – I REPEAT DOUBLE CHECK YOUR STATEMENT OR PAY CASH
i have never written a review before even when i receive bad service but the treatment i received at the townhouse spa was so bad that i had to sign up for an account to warn others.
1. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THEIR TONE ON THE PHONE, THEY ARE NOT AS NICE AS THEY SOUND.
i had the unfortunate experience of dealing with them on my birthday. and while the facial and massage therapists were great, my nightmare started when i got to my manicure and pedicure. THERE IS A YOUNG GIRL THERE THAT DOES THE MANICURE AND PEDICURE, IF YOU MUST GO THERE AVOID HER AT ALL COST SHE WILL ABADON YOU IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR APPOINTMENT TO GO ATTEND TO SOMEONE THAT SHE THINKS IS A RICHER CLIENT. SHE IS ABOUT 5"3 TO 5"5 and spanish looking. DONT SAY YOU HAVENT BE WARNED.
in the middle of my nails, she got up to go attend to another client the moment he came in, i guess she figured he would be a better tipper than i would. since i had a decent facial and massage i left a 30% tip for both the massage therapists and the lady that did my facial individually since the bad service wasn't their fault. but i guess the manager thought i was stupid because she then decided to add an additional $50 to my bill in addition to the tax, even though she was the same person that gave me a coupon to apologize for the girl's behavior. IF YOU ARE A WOMAN OF COLOR NO MATTER HOW NICE YOU ARE, STAY AWAY FROM THEM. THEIR TREATMENT IS APPALLING. I AM USED TO NEW YORK ATTITUDE BUT THE TREATMENT AT THIS SPA WAS ATROCIOUS.
I love this spa – this was one of the best spas I've been too . I loved the decor , and the services were amazing . my massage with Van was one of the best. I've already booked her again for next week . the facial was fantastic. the woman really knew what she was doing and was extremely knowledgeable about skin and over all health .Best of all she wasnt product pushy . they also have a huge steam room !
Not worth the $$$ – If you're short on time let me give you my bottom line on this place up front: It's not the worst but it is far from great though it puts on a lot of airs.
My beloved manicurist is taking a month long break and I am using the opportunity to try a few places in the city just hoping to find an alternative nail salon for future reference if/when my regular manicurist is book or away. That said I read a ton of reviews on both Citysearch and Yelp and decided to give Townhouse a try because specific names were mentioned in relation to manicures (in the bigger salons I find it important to actually have a name as service/experience can differ between nail technicians).
Appointment process over the phone was find however the day of the appointment I received a voicemail message stating that my appointment was being pushed down 45 minutes because of some late appointments. No biggie and I arrived approx. 10 mins. early for my new appt. time.
I had specifically requested "Cindy" when booking the appointment only to be greeted by a "Sonia" in the waiting area. When I entered the nail lounge with "Sonia" I was a little surprised to see only one other nail technician working on a Saturday (maybe the reason my appointment was pushed back?); by the way, it turns out this other tech was the "Cindy" I requested. I can only surmise that the name I stated on the phone was misunderstood.
"Sonia" did a decent job on my nails though she was a bit over zealous with my cuticles and my right ring finger cuticle has a sore spot. Sonia did try to sell the paraffin add-on to me which was mildly irritating as I had already chosen the Townhouse Manicure, the spa's upgraded manicure at $22, I declined the paraffin offer. Polish application was just better than average.
All in all, nothing to say the experience was awful but given the price, nothing to stood out to make me feel I want to ever return. My search for an alternative good manicurist in the city continues...
BE CAREFUL RE PRICING – I was looking forward to a great couple of hrs of relaxation, instead I left very upset. I got a great massage but the 1 hr only lasted 40 minutes. I then went to the facial room where I wanted a regular facial with extractions, 135.00. The facialist gave me a choice of a 195.00 or a 220.00 facial. I then asked her about a regular one and she told me that these were the two I wanted. $60 more? For what? It was the same one hour!!! The staff is obviously trained to mislead the customers in order to charge more. The facial was ok, nothing special and certainly not worth 195.00 plus tip.
When checking out I asked the very nice receptionist about the "packages" that were listed inside the spa. She would not give me this pricing as I had already booked it "a la carte." Very bad business in my opinion
I would not go back or recommend this place to anyone, but if you do go, make sure you know pricing in advance and be firm about it.
Horrible Experience – This past weekend was my first time at this despicable spa. I walked in and the front desk clerk had a rather nasty attitude. Shortly after, I was escorted to my 60 min massage. Let me tell you, I have definitely had better massages than the one from Townhouse. The masseuse failed to recognize where my sore muscles were and the massage was very unpleasant. It was not worth the $130 for a massage of such poor technique. The bathrooms were dirty and even the manager was as ignorant as her staff. Everything about that spa disgusted me to the fullest. Worst experience ever!
My New Neighborhood Spa – My boyfriend comes here all the time for massages and he treated me to a massage last week. We had some great lemongrass tea in lounge and went off to our separate locker rooms for a steam. We met in their couples room for a 90 minute massage. He was right- the massage was not only relaxing but the therapist really worked on loosening my tense mucles and also performed a stretching during the last ten mintutes that alleviated the pain in my lower back. We then had side by side buff pedicures which are pricer at $90 but it is the most thorough pedicure I've had thus far. They also have nice little treats like dried fruits, nuts and a large selection of magazines to read. The spa is noticably very clean all around.
Reduced a 75 minute massage to 45 minutes – I got the Grounded Massage on 9/18. The massage itself was really wonderful, but the masseuse started 20 minutes late and ended almost 10 minutes early. I would NOT recommend going here unless you are very attentive to the time. I know I won't.
Nice place, really good massage. Nice desk staff. The only drawback is that the "locker room" is also the waiting area. This part was not so relaxing. It felt a little weird changing after my treatment b/c there was a group of women there together all gabbing and waiting for their treatments.
