Leads with liquor. – I thought it was because we were 10 minutes late, but they routed everyone to the bar with the restaurant 40% empty, then held them there inordinately until they bought drinks. They wanted to take our wine order before we discussed/ordered dinner. Lastly, they billed us twice for our wine and made a reluctant show of taking it back. Poor selection of wines by the glass, and quite pricy.
Service was rather unpleasant, terse and cold. My pork chop was very good, tender, juicy, and flavorful. My wife's (pecan encrusted?) redfish was only average. No vegetables are provided with
HIdden Gem – I've been in New Orleans 3 years now and had never heard of Broussards, I told my wife that she could pick our "date night" spot and she chose here. Wow our meals were great service is in the top of restaurants i've been to all over the country. If going to New Orleans or a native who hasn't tried this place in a while i defintley reccomend it and hope that the they are doing the Ribeye special that night for you because it was a mighty fine cut of meat.
great dinner in the french quarter – My husband & I walked into Broussard's rather late (after 9 pm) last night. Surprisingly we were welcomed and seated right away. I mention this only because 2 other restaurants had told us that their last seating was at 8 pm and basically refused our business. The manager recommended the pompano and the lamb. Both were outstanding. The courtyard was wonderful for our dessert and coffee. we definitely will be back!
Back and Better than Ever!! – Can't wait to see what's in store for us in Jackson Square at this year's French Quarter Fest - i read that you're a new addition. I also see that you have a booth in Wednesday at the Square this year. All of your food has been right on point and your prescence has really brought something special to all of these events. It's about time!
I had cocktails and apps there last weekend in that divine courtyard of yours.... talk about royal treatment! It was my own private escape from the screaming tourists and relentless traffic. I heard the birds chirping, the flow of the fountain and soft jazz... with a side of attentive staff politely checking on me!
Beautiful Place with Wonderful Food!! – As a local I have eaten at many different establishments over the past twenty ++ years. Broussard's is one of my favorite by far. The ambience of the restaurant is divine, as well the food is heavenly. We did not experience any delays with being sat at a table and the service was prompt. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a fine dining experience that will never be forgotten.

Water glass is dirty, FLITHY PLACE don't waste your time and have a bad memory of NEW ORLEANS because NEW ORLEANS people don't act this way and have a terrible demeanor, Yes i have said your business is a piece of crap, and so is your food..DON'T GO HERE IT ISN'T WORTH THE EMBRASSEMENT save your mind sake and find another establishment That has the confidence to serve and cater to you,,and provide a wonderful dinning experience and memory of New Orleans...
Creole Deliciousness – From start to finish, Broussard's made my dining experience in New Orleans simply wonderful. The reservationist was accommodating, the wait staff was courteous and the food was sensational. Fabulous creole menu to select from!
One of the Finest Fine Dining Restaurants in the Quarter – I am another customer posting an excellent review of Broussards. The cuisine is divine, well presented and the staff courteous and professional; in other words, at my beck and call. I, too, was dining in the restaurant the night that this poorly articulate and obviously gender repressed gentleman states that he had a "horrid" experience. This man's food, as was the others dining at his table, presented impeccably and smelled divine as it passed my table. This man had quite a few alcoholic beverages and obviously ruined his appetite and, in my opinion, was just trying to get a free meal. He assaulted his server by crumpling up his bill and throwing it at her, striking her in the forehead. I am an attorney in the city and would have gladly pursued an assault claim on behalf of the server, had she so desired. She behaved with utmost dignity and still this man's tyrade could not be quelled. Don't always listen to what you read. Come try Broussard's for yourself. It is an established restaurant and is so because it consistently serves high quality fare with impeccable service and presentation. You're truly missing out on one of the great restaurant experiences in the Quarter, until you come in to Broussard's.

I am a New Orleans native and happened to be in the same dining room as you on the night in question. To say that YOUR behavior in that restaurant was "merely [GROTESQUE] would be the understatement of the century."
I'm sorry but reading this cavalier garbage has simply infuriated me. First of all, you've taken what really happened, shaved off the facts, done some serious finessing then put the whole thing into a tacky, poorly written attempt at convincing not only others, but more so yourself, that you are more than just a legend in your own mind. By the way... a reference to communist Eastern Berlin does not make you sound cultured and worldly - quite the opposite.
Not only did you almost succeed in ruining our evening, but you completely mortified the sweet little couple who were dining with you, with your pompous pouting over a steak (which was fine and you know it) and the fact that the manager wasn't going to give your incessant belittling of his restaurant, staff and his knowledge of the "definition" of hospitality, any occasion. He was polite, he was sincere, he made several genuine attempts to put out the fire, to which you continued to add fuel, and finally, he'd had enough of you. I don't know what your "pedigree" is (I'm sure you are DYING to tell us all about it), but clearly entering someone's home for the first time and putting your shoes all over the furniture, behaving like a spoiled, ill-mannered child, insulting and cursing the host and storming out, is O.K. in your book. You're right, you are exactly the type of sophisticated gentlemen this society needs to be learning from.
You also CONVENIENTLY robbed your captivating story of the part where you crumpled up the bill and threw it at the little, blonde captain's face, hitting her square in the forehead. THAT, my smart friend, is considered assault. Look it up. I'm sure that you will. You refused to pay the bill PERIOD. You made snide comments to on-lookers upon storming out. You cursed the owner and made all who had to witness your uncouth behavior, very uncomfortable.
We HOWEVER, had a lovely time! The food was superb, the service was steady (given the fact that the restaurant was PACKED and it was Christmas Eve) and the staff were charming and professional. I found it so impressive that Marc was completely involved in every aspect of service. You will never find a restaurant owner anymore, who actually RUNS the restaurant. That to me was so refreshing and made me, as a guest, feel important and respected. When people are evasive and pawn you off on an assistant, it’s insulting. With Broussard's and the Preuss family, what you see is what you get -> the highest degree of respect.
The Customer Is Always Wrong! – Without a doubt, this was the single worst dining experience, in any city on any continent, of my life. I’ve received better service and less attitude in East Berlin while still under the communist regime or from a Lucky Dog vendor. It would not have been so solely because of the horrible service or overcooked entrée. What sealed the deal was the attitude of the manager, Marc the owner’s son, when the table tried to bring our concerns to his attention. Not only did we not receive an apology, but to say he was merely rude would be the understatement of the century.
We made our reservations weeks in advance at the recommendation of another friend, a regular. We even went to the restaurant the afternoon of our reservation to hand select our table. Spirits and expectations were high. We arrived in a festive mood approximately 2 minutes after our reservation time. We were promptly ushered to a different table than the one we had chosen earlier, and upon questioning were informed that they didn’t take reservations! We settled on another table in a lovely room and looked forward to our dining experience, blithely unaware that things were not going to get any better.
30 minutes in we finally received our first cocktail. Did I mention this was after having 5 different wait staff approach us for varying reasons? Shortly thereafter I was asked if I had chosen our wine, and tried to tell the waiter “no” because we hadn’t received any menus to order from to determine what we were going to eat, which would guide our wine selection, but the waiter didn’t get all of this because he was walked away while I was speaking. Anyway, one hour in and we received our second cocktail but still no one asked to take our order.
The food began arriving 20-30 minutes later and we began enjoying our experience. After the entrees arrived I asked our waitress to send Marc, the manager over. so we could inform him about our dining experience. I rarely ask to speak to the manager but I also rarely receive this kind of service. I informed him about the service and without commenting he made a statement which, in essence, was that at least the food had been good . I informed him that in addition to the lousy service my $32.00 filet was not prepared medium as ordered but well done, and I was not able to finish it, and again, without commenting on the service or food, Marc said in a very loud voice, “don’t challenge me” and stormed away in a huff. I still had the look of disbelief on my face when another patron at a different table across the room began informing me and their waitress how out of line the manager was and how inappropriate his behavior and comment was. It’s bad enough when you receive bad service and complain, but when other tables, yes, that’s more than one, start agreeing with you and offering their own unsolicited comments (incompetent, etc.), you know there is a real problem.
Anyway, bottom line, the manager was/is an arrogant prig who despite his years of experience as touted in the restaurant’s menu synopsis does not know the first thing about customer service. We were in his establishment for 3 ¼ hours and dropped $500.00 only to receive lousy service and be insulted. He even threatened us with the police if we didn’t pay for the bad portion of the meal. The axiom “the customer is always right” does not stand a chance in hell at this restaurant and I will NEVER return. Marc should receive some retraining, perhaps by starting over at a fast food chain like McDonalds, because his alleged history at Sun City and the Ritz Carlton really did him a huge disservice, and us as well.
If this restaurant had not been recommended by a friend I would have read the reviews on other sights beforehand and would never have chosen to give this place my business. It is obvious that others have “enjoyed” Marc’s behavior.
