The worst customer service and the highest price I have ever experienced through all my life! I'm so disappointed and angry about the store. What a nonprofessional place. It's a slaughter house!

Your eyes are worth it! – If you are having trouble finding glasses that truly work for your eyes, I can't express it enough...go to Erkers. Because my eyesight is a bit on the difficult side to seem to fit right, I went to Erkers. I have never had glasses from any other store that fit as well as Erkers. (been wearing glasses for over 50 years.) I am on my fourth pair of glasses there and each one has been a delight. I am not saying that they are the fastest, or the cheapest but I do believe that they are the best in town for helping a person see as much as a person can see. I did have a problem with what the eyeglass company sent back ths last time and Erkers sent the pair right back and was very kind to me and apologetic. If you have a need for glasses, why not give them a try? I am so glad to have found them.
Erker's verbally abused my 16 year old daughter. – I took two of my kids to Erker's this morning and while I was in the exam room with my son, my daughter was being fit for glasses. The lady told her, "You have a small, nerdy face. I will find glasses to fit that and then after we will look for prettier ones." She did not tell me until after we left and she began crying.
We did NOT purchase there as we were scammed by the groupon deal. Even after groupon, it was going to be $279 per child! We even asked for the frames that our promotion would cover. HORRIBLE
errors, delays, and disrespect – I recently moved to the St. Louis area and chose Erker's partly because my old ophthalmologist recommended it and partly because I try to support small local businesses rather than large chains. After this experience, however, it's LensCrafters all the way for me.
The clerk was polite and helpful while I was choosing new frames, and about a week later I got the call that my glasses had come in. But upon trying them on, it was obvious that the lenses were completely wrong. It turned out that the clerk had incorrectly copied the prescription onto the order form. Not a big deal, although it was annoying that I would have to wait another week and make a second trip to pick up the corrected glasses, especially since I had hoped to wear the new glasses to an event a few days later.
Yesterday afternoon I got the call that the correct glasses had come in, so I went this morning to pick them up. According to both the website and the call, the store opens at 9 am. I got there about 9:30, only to see a sign on the door saying that they would not open until 10 today. I didn't really have time to wait around, but I certainly didn't want to make a third trip some other day. At 10:03, I called to other location to let them know that I was waiting. Someone finally showed up about 10:25.
Instead of apologizing, this man greeted me by saying "are you waiting for me?" in a sing-song tone appropriate only for addressing a child (I'm 28). I said "I'm here to pick up some glasses that have already been delayed once due to your mistake." He then started SCOLDING me for daring to point out the problem. Let's see -- due to their carelessness, I've already made an unnecessary trip (wasting time, gas, and parking money), and now I've wasted another hour waiting, but I don't have a right to complain? I have NEVER been treated so disrespectfully by any other business, and will certainly not be back.
STAY AWAY!!!! – I decided to give them a try when I bought their coupon from Groupon. BIG MISTAKE!
(1) Rude customer service - don't expect friendly service here at all. The two ladies that I spoke to was rude!
(2) Scam - Was charged extra $50 for contact lens exam even though Groupon says that it included eye exam!
(3) Overprice - their frames and lenses are overpriced!
I went back to Groupon and noticed others also had similar bad experience with them. The coupon may sounds like a good idea but it is not.
Stay away from Erker!!!!!
Unhappy Groupon Customer – We purchased a groupon for Erkers about 8 months ago. Very clearly in the comments section Tony Erker said "your eye exam is also a contact lens exam" and then again "your exam is for a contact lens exam as well as an eyeglass exam it is a full eye exam" and "It does apply to a contact lens exam" to questions that were posted on the comments asking if the groupon could be used for a contact lens exam. We were charged $50 additonal for a contact lens exam! I called to complain twice and on the 2nd call they agreed to refund the $50.
Just wanted to share our Erker's experience.
Not worth the money – I purchased glasses at Erker's for the the first time and will not be a repeat customer. They have a nice selection of frames to choose from. The frames I picked out were not designer frames and still my bill for no-line bifocals was $1,000. without an exam. The technician who worked with me seemed less than knowledgable. She told me to look at her finger while she put a mark on the lens to measure the bifocal but her finger kept moving so we went through that step repeatedly. I waited almost three weeks for the glasses to come in and one lens was wrong so had to be redone with another 10 day wait. Thank goodness I had other glasses to wear. I wanted to like Erker's since I like to support downtown businesses.
Positive Groupon Experience – I wanted to dispel a few myths that spawned from misleading reviews. I bought the Groupon after I checked out the site. I knew going into the purchase that there was going to be additional cost. Erker's is known for its high-end glasses. This isn't a Lenscrafters.
I walked in and was treated like any other customer despite the fact that they knew I had a Groupon. My eye exam was thorough, and the doctor was very kind and knowledgeable. At its completion, I was taken out into the showroom where the owner himself sat down and walked me through a bunch of frames. I told him that I had a budget (a budget that was well below the $1,000 mark that a previous reviewer mentioned he or she was unable to get below), and it turned out that every single pair of frames that he had laid in front of me was well within that budget. They weren't crappy frames, either.
Here's what you need to know: if you're going to Erker's, you're going to a shop that has some of the best eyewear in the city. It's like going to Nordstrom. The Groupon was never intended, so far as I can tell, to give you a free pair of cheap glasses; it was intended to give you a break on a really nice pair of glasses. Go in there with a budget you're comfortable sticking with, let them know up front, and everybody leaves happy.
I'd like to say again: this is a very nice and knowledgeable staff. I'll gladly return.
Great Glasses at Erker's – love Erkers Eyewear. I had looked around for a pair of frames at all of your run-of-the-mill eye wear stores, but could never find exactly what I was looking for. When it came time for my 2 year exam, I decided just to have my eyes checked with the optometrist Erker's to make getting new glasses easier, since I knew I'd be getting frames there. They have all kinds of gorgeous glasses, and they only sell one pair of each color of a frame, so you know they're going to be unique. The staff is extremely helpful in assisting your search, giving recommendations and opinions. The service is also amazingly quick compared to what I normal experience waiting for my new frames. I went in for an exam on a Thursday (which was also great-- I saw Dr. Levy, a very nice man) and they had my new glasses ready for me on the following Monday.
Prices at Erker's seem to be very similar to their competitors, but I think you get a better selection. Not sure why people say they are expensive Nevertheless, they don't really carry designer brands such as D&G or Chanel, but that was fine with me.
I am more than satisfied with my experience at Erkers and will recommend the store to everyone I know, as well as continue to give them my service whenever I am in need of new glasses/ contact lenses.
