Italian food at its best... – I had dinner here last night and the food was "Great"…so great that I regularly drive from Bellevue, 30 miles R/T, passing several “acceptable” Italian restaurants just to eat here.

Their portions are usually two meals for me and since I often have the Ziti or the Fettuccini and Meatballs, it is great that they freeze so well. Where else can you get fresh pasta and made to order homemade food at a reasonable price. Actually where can you get a good meal anywhere and know that it hasn’t been frozen, didn't come from a mix, out of a box or pre-prepared to heat up when ordered?

I am always hesitant to recommend places to eat because as we all know, the food or service will be awful that night. I have recommended Italian Market to many people and all I hear is “Thanks for that great recommendation” or “My wife loved the ambience”. Well, not entirely true, one couple could not find the restaurant, but they were new to Nashville.

To sum it up...if you had a great meal, tell Eddie...if you are unhappy with your meal, tell Eddie...either way you will leave happy.

The REAL Italian! – I have been to Coco's (sadly) only 3 times now. I live 48 miles away but going back is worth every mile of the trip! The staff are very friendly, love to see their customers smile. Eddie, the night manager, is very accomodating when it comes to special orders or new ideas. The food is supurb! The pastas are always fresh and cooked JUST right!

There is a nice selection of wines to compliment the dinner. (May i suggest the Lambrusco?)

The atmosphere inside is very comfortable and relaxed, but very classy at the same time. Also an outdoor area as well.

I lived in an italian home for quite some time and Coco's is just like that home to me. As soon as I walk in the smell takes me back to then and everything else to go with it is a dream come true!

fabulous food and staff – Being an authentic Italian myself I was very pleased to stumble upon Coco's. The food is superb and the staff is exceptional; they go out of their way to customize your request. Nashville, you have a winner!

Response to Hotpoop – While it is everyone's right to have an opinion, I must take issue with you on some of your inaccurate points. The lunch special remains $4.99....a huge portion of pasta, with meatballs or sausage. For $3.99, you can skip the meat. No sandwich is priced over $8. The service is consistently good.

You should give it another try :)

Coco's is the real deal. – Went to Coco's with some apprehension...am picky about Italian food and Nashville doesn't have many good Italian restaurants. Loaded up on artisan bread, hand-made pasta, and herb-infused olive oil. But what I was really after was a good marinara sauce ("gravy" to some). There wasn't any in the to-go case, so I asked and there was some question whether the awesome stuff bubbling on the stove since dawn was for sale, but I got some and it was worth the 20-miles-each-way drive. Went back two days later and did it again...same scenario and worth it again. I will trade cookie-cutter corporate efficiency for good sauce, no problem.

Italian market should try to keep it consistent, too pricey – I've been eating here on and off for the past year and a half since Coco bought this place. I'm from the east coast originally and so I know real Italian food that the market, despite all consideration to their geographic location, falls very short from. Nick's they are not. I work just around the corner and when they where providing good service i would recommend them to our clientele here on Charlotte Pike. NO LONGER! They have been offering the same lunch time special for the past year and a half and although the price has gone up in that time, the portions have gone way down. The lunch special for $3.99 that used to include an awesome meatball, has gone up to $5.99 and does include sausage, but it is now 3 small slivers of meat instead of a meatball. Dude, its pasta and its cheap, serve at least some meat for $6. i understand that times are tough with the economy, but don't raise the price while you cut the portions. Are your customer's chumps? I guess the real disappointment is the consistency. The food since their opening has gone from very good too something from the back of a Sisqo truck, unoriginal and uninspired. You can sell as much imported, Italian, goods as you want and its not going to improve your prepared food unless you actually try. Perhaps the biggest problem with the business is their staff turnover, as every time I go in their I'm greeted by new faces that seem less interested in serving me than checking their emails. I've only ever had one smilling, happy, helpful employee and that was over a year ago. I apologize to any Charlotte Pike shoppers I've recommended the Italian market to in the past. They used to be good when they where trying. They seem to think that their adult clientele can be just as easily fooled as their adolescent clientele over at Cafe Coco's; serve them some over priced crap with some Wifi and they'll love it. Sorry Italian Market. Italian, you are not and Market is also laughable. Perhaps you can eventually justify an $11 dollar sandwich with good service and consistent prices and proportioning. Until then, you no longer get my business, nor recommendations to my Charlotte Pike clientele.

Give them a chance – I just moved to Nashville and being a child of two New Yorkers, I grew up on deli food. I was greeted with a friendly hello and EVERYONE was eager to help me. Their mortadella is amazing! I also fell in love with their hot coppa. I bought some reggiano at the lowest price I have ever seen, as well as some taleggio, and aged provolone. I couldn't resist the free samples of freshly baked breads and gelato. As I was in the common area, I couldn't help but drool over the plates that were being ushered from the kitchen. I will definitely be a regular here and will promote them every chance I can. I didn't see the rude teenagers and twenty-somethings that are mentioned in other reviews. Instead, everyone was a professional with an obvious love of their craft. Next time, ask for Eddie...he was fantastic!

Overpriced. Unfriendly staff. – I drove from the other side of town to try out this restaurant. I had an Entertainment book coupon and was told that they have changed owners and that the coupon was not valid. Staff was rather curt and unfriendly. The sandwich I ordered was good, but a bit over priced. Pasta salad was very bland. In my opinion, it is not worth the drive back.

They don't know Italian – I decided to try this place because I read that it was under new ownership, the Cafe Coco peeps. I ordered a pizza, lasagna, and a chocolate cannoli. The pizza tasted like a frozen pizza. It wasn't grosse, but it tasted similar to something out of the frozen section. The lasagna had a Overwhelming taste of bell peppers. I really don't know why they feel the need to ruin the sauce with an overwhelming flavor of bell pepper. The flavor really doesn't jive. And I saved the worst for last- the cannoli. This is one of my favorite desserts, so I was really looking forward to devouring. First- I ordered a chocolate cannoli so they drizzled some chocolate over a plain cannoli.....ok, not the typical way to top a cannoli with chocolate, but I can accept this as long as it taste good. It didn't. Second- The filling was absolutely not done right and was not really even edible. Do not order the cannoli unless you want to be extremely dissapointed. I took two bites and was done. I am almost 8 months pregnant and didn't finish my dessert. This should tell you something. I rarely sign on to give bad reviews, but I was just so dissapointed in the Cafe Coco owners. How could they do such a poor job with this? ? Could it be because there were teenagers cooking the food? I hate to blame teens because I am sure there are some that cook better than I do. There was just no pride or care taken in preparing this meal. I don't know who to blame- just don't waste your money. Italian Market Owners- go to a real Italian restaurant and taste a cannoli, then taste yours. Diners- There are several qualtiy Italian joints in town. Stick to those.
