The prix fixe menu is pricy, but you get enough in the five courses to make it a good value, and the food is excellent. Be hungry, or you will not be able to enjoy it all.
Tujague's – In a word...EXCELLENT!
The food is fantastic and a good value!
The owners and the wait staff make you feel special.
Local flavor in a very colorful town!
We'll be back - but not soon enough!
No good! – Went to Tujague's hoping for a romantic and fine dining experience. Turned out to be our worst meal on our New Orleans trip. The food was horrible especially considering we paid $35 each for the meal. The crab and spinach soup tasted like white gravy with small chunks of clam and for the main course we had the crawfish pasta which had no flavor and BBQ shrimp over rice which had a awful aftertaste (I could not even finish the small portion because it was so disgusting). The only items that even half way tasted decent was the bread and coffee. The restaurant was loud and the temperature was very cold. The only good thing about this restaurant was the history behind it.
Too Good – A great experience. The place is worth the trip even if you don't eat. We showed up with 12 people and were ushered into a private room with excellent service. Food was great and a good time was had by all.
No Jacks – We had a terrible experience here! We had read good reviews but were terribly disappointed We had the creole dinner meal. The 3 entree choices were: a chicken dish with a creamy sauce which tasted much like those cambell soup dishes so popular in the 70's, oysters over pasta, or crawfish etoufee. None were good. The portions were extremely small considering most restaraunts in the city heap it on. My shrimp roumalade featured 4 mini shrimp; my soup (gumbo) did not contain any meat pieces (my husbands had one piece of sausage and a small piece of chicken), the brisket of beef was approximately 1 inch long, by half inch wide and 1/4 inch thick; and the dessert was the worst bread pudding I had tasted in all New Orleans. We will not go back!
What's for dinner?? – If there is a night when you don't want to make a decision about what to have for dinner, come here. The value is very good, as is the food and best of all...you don't have to decide what to have, they have already made the decision for you!
