Good Food, Horrible Service – I dine out frequently at many places. I consider myself well traveled and acquainted with various culinary experiences. I have eaten at Kalamata on several occassions. I LOVE the food they serve. I do not care for the Miso soup, however, that is the ONLY thing I have had on the menu that I did not like. I love Sushi, and Kalamata serves only the freshest fish. The rolls are not only well rolled, but they are also presented in an artful manner on the plate. The downfall to Kalamata is the service. The service, for lunch especially, is horrible! The last time I dined in, it took me an hour and a half. The food was not brought out all together. Half of us were done eating before the other half even got their food! They need to consider re-staffing.
Best sushi in town!!!! – We have been dining here every week for almost a year now, and we love this place. You can have a Japanese dinner on the more traditional side or you can experiment with Greek dishes, which are also very tasty. The service here is wonderful and friendly. The sushi is always fresh - we love the yellowtail, tuna and Spanish Mackerel. Extensive choice of sake... try the Kurosawa - and for dessert, you must try their dessert fruit rolls... an aboluste treat!
Authentic Japanese, sushi – Delicious. Skilled sushi chefs. The sushi here is head and shoulders above anything else in the area. It's not trendy and glitzy like the celeb-packed places, but it is much more authentically japanese. You can really taste the difference when you order something like shima-aji--so much fresher. If you're a fan of salmon - theirs has a nice fresh burst of flavor. Its worth it to order one of the specials or ask the sushi chef what is best that day because they really know their stuff.
Best Sushi and Japanese food in Knoxville. – I love sushi, and we've been to some excellent places in NY, Well, I have to say that Kalamata is better than any I've been to before. Absolutely outstanding, and if you love sushi, you have to try Kalamata. Specially the nigri and rolls are very fresh, generous in size, and each dish is a work of art to look at. The bill was reasonable!
