Instead of prayers, there's Creole and French fare in this converted pink church in Mid-City. – The Scene
No pews, but four rows of tables with white linen tablecloths. A Gothic interior with arched stained-glass windows and a vaulted dark-wood ceiling. The décor, however, has the distinct feel of 1977, the year the restaurant opened. An older clientele and families all-grown-up come here for special occasions.
To start, try the calorie-rich (who's counting?) oysters en brochette with oysters fried to perfection between bacon strips. The grilled duck with mandarins salad is also a fine choice. Bouillabaisse Marseillaise is an exceptional main course with poached fish fillets, shrimp, oysters and crabmeat in a light saffron fish-stock broth. Meat lovers should try the filet Farci--a perfect cut of beef stuffed and surrounded by oysters, then covered in a smoky demi-glace sauce.
