Not Romantic At All! – The food wasn't that good and the place wasn't in the least bit romantic, being so crowded and all. The service was lacking also, with my date and I waiting 45 minutes for out main course. That was my first and last time going to Cafe Degas.

ALMOST LIKE PARIS – A wonderfully intimate restaurant. Consistantly excellent food. And appropriately named, since it is in this neighborhood that Degas painted when he lived in New Orleans.

Decent Neighborhood Place – After hearing so much about the cafe, I was expecting it to be more than it was. I had a so-so duck, fine for the money. My wife had a chicken dish, which turned out to be the best at the table! Creme Brulee was also very good. I would return, but would not consider this place for special occasions...Fine for a Tuesday when you don't feel like cooking.

A little bit of romance... – I love sitting on the patio in the rain. My husband and I have enjoy Cafe Degas for 12 years. Their prices at dinner have gotten high, but it's still well worth it. Pepper steak, escargo, lamb (when they have it) are always fantastics. I've been disappointed in pheasant. Their cheese plate appetizer is great.

Lunch is the real deal. Dinner is a bit on the pricey side. Many people who are going to spend $120 for dinner and wine, might prefer something fancier for the price.

If you go regularly, the staff will become very friendly, and extras (lagniappe) appear. Since I've moved out of the neighborhood, it more of a treat now days.
