World's Best Desserts, period. – From Paris to Mexico, Bolivia to Switzerland, I have not encoutered a dessert shop equal to Pistachio in quality and service. Elegant interior decor, friendly staff, and great location enrich the customer experience, but in the end it's all secondary to the out-of-this-world flavor you'll encounter here. Every item, from your classic shortbread cookies to your exotic yuzu-fruit chiboust, balances the perfect amount of butter, sugar, and other standard ingredients - only to be enriched by an unexpected lavendar infusion, bittersweet chocolate dusting, or carmelized fruit topping. Servers are friendly, helpful, and never look down at you for not knowing how to pronounce the names of their items! I always go here when I need a gift for a special occasion - and you can find an item for any budget. Being a penny-pincher, I'm naturally disinclined to spend $6 on a mini-cheesecake, but the flavors are so full that you'll feel like you got 10x what you paid for! I'm not sure, but I'd guess that the pastry chefs have been trained in the European tradition.
I miss their Short North location, but it's worth the drive to German Village to get my fix. If it's your first time, I highly recommend anything involving a combination of cream and fruit; it's their strength.
The bottom line: so tasty, I would eat it off the floor of a Coney Island Port-O-Let!
Pistacio has moved – Pistacio moved to German Village about a year ago. not sure of the address, but they are sorely missed in the short north.
A Hotbed of Sweet Sin – There is no need for flowery, descriptive language here: Pistachio has the best desserts. They're just freaking insanely delicious. Eat their macarons or cookies or any of their tortes and you will be awestruck by the angel choir in your taste buds. The flavors are subtle but distinct, the textures are airy and divine, and nothing is overly sweet. If I decided that I wanted to weigh 3,000 lbs, I'd call Pistachio to make the bulk order that would send me merrily on my way.
Editorial Review – Seasonal dessert menu features cookies, pastries, tarts, truffles, special-occasion cakes, wedding cakes and more.
Best Pastry! – My friend and I went to Pistachio on a snowy day in February/07 for the first time. Their pastries warmed our hearts! We shared a Blueberry Spice cheesecake, Dulce de Leche Mille Feuille pastry, Yuzu Chiboust tartlette, and Flourless Grand Marnier Guanaja truffle Torte pastry. We were amazed by the texture and taste of every item we ordered. We've tried a lot of desserts in Columbus area. Pistachio has become our new favorite sweet kitchen!
not so much – The pastries at Pistachio are beautiful to look at, but just don't have the goods once you bite into them. This is true for the cakes also. Add to this the fussiness and expense of the place, and you have, basically, a hipstered-out version of Mozart's. Give Omega bakery (in the north market) a try instead, perhaps.
