Instead of the Traditional.. GET THE JUDGE BOSETTA – Expect a line when you get here. But well worth the wait. Plenty of dining space in the back if the front tables are all taken (and they will be.) With well over 20 choices of amazing Po Boys you MUST check out Johnny's when in NoLa

Still the Best Po-Boy – What I loved about Johnny's is that they really try hard to please. They are so willing to correct any thing you want. If you are from another state they make you feel at home. When we went in, they were training new people. They were telling the po-boy maker to put more food on it. It was was falling off. They really mean business there. Good eats. If it isn't the way you want, go back up, they will fix it!....

Very good, but could be much better. A victim of its own success? – I ate lunch at Johnny's today, after reading great reviews on this site and others. When I arrived, I LOVED the unpretentious atmosphere and thought that the staff was very, very nice. An 11 on a scale of 1 to 10. I ordered a sausage po-boy, and my buddy ordered a shrimp po-boy. We both ordered gumbo, too. Overall, our food was above average. The bread for the po-boy was flaky and flavorful. Problem was, Johnny's skimped on the meat (shrimp on my buddy's and sausage on mine). The sandwich had really good flavor, overall, but the ratio of bread to substance was too high (way too little meat). On both po-boys, there was no meat for the last two inches of sandwich.

I was disappointed, given the ratings of the restaurant, and given its reputation. Perhaps it is the best in New Orleans. If so, that is a sad statement, as better po-boys may be available in other cities (like Chicago, where I live) than in their native cities. I found the same to be true of Pat's and Geno's of Philadelphia. Almost all bread and very little meat. To me, this is a sign that Johnny's success may have gotten to its head, and that it may have forgotten what got it there. They've tried to skimp and risk ruining their reputation as a result. Shame. Good guys, those folks at Johnny's.

A New Orleans must – My husband and I discovered this place about 15 years ago. They truly have the best po' boys I have ever eaten. Since then, we have been back many times to New Orleans, and we must always eat there at least once. The shrimp and oyster po' boy are the very best. We are going again in July, and this will be one of the first places we stop.

Amazing po' boys! – I just got back from a fantastic trip to New Orleans! We stumbled upon Johnny's Po-Boys on our last day for lunch- soo good! It's very casual- step up to the counter and order your meal, grab a seat and enjoy! I had one of the po' boys (it was called Judge <blank- can't remember>)- it had ground beef and three types of sausages (italian, andouille, etc.), lettuce, tomatoes, mayo all wrapped in the freshest, softest bread! It was absolutely delicious!! It's cheap, too! My 12-inch po' boy was only $6-7!! I highly recommend this place!!
