The Angela King Gallery is one of my favorite galleries in New Orleans and I visit it often during my frequent trips to the city. However, every time I visit the gallery, I am completely ignored. Whether the place is full of guests or when there's no one in it but me, I become invisible when I walk through those doors. If you're a person of color, don't waste your time going to this racist (?) gallery. Spend your money where it's welcomed and respected.
Boldly embracing pop culture with both fine and fun art since 1978. – In Short
A nice break from the barrage of Royal Street antique galleries, splashy works such as Peter Max's depictions of pop icons and LeRoy Neiman's sports prints are on view. The art is bold and dramatic, and the gallery is unpretentious. In addition to paintings, the gallery displays works in bronze and in glass that are also targeted to the young at heart. You won't get dirty looks if you're in shorts and a T-shirt. Information about each artist is displayed, so you're never left guessing.
