Terrible – Had taste for deep dish pizza, and ordered out. I live less then a mile away, and they said it would be delivered within the hour. Almost two hours went by and I got a sub par pizza with an absolutely burned crust. It was awful. Many better places to order pizza from.
Large, casual pizzeria draws in locals for deep-dish pies and pitchers of beers at an affordable price. – The Scene
No need for reservations, as this pizza joint is big enough to handle your softball team on a moment's notice. Smaller family-sized booths are in front, with larger tables and rooms in the back. The walls are jammed with sports posters and beer signs, though the few TVs are surprisingly tuned to non-sports channels (even when Chicago teams are playing). The staff, however, will find a game, if asked.
It's pizza, plain and simple. The stuffed (deep dish Chicago-style) pies here feature a crust that's more bready, than pastry-like. Cheese doesn't overwhelm the moderately spicy sauce. All the usual ingredients are available as toppings. Pasta portions are plentiful. Salads are large, but mainly lettuce and nothing special. Fried calamari is a nice appetizer, with the rings flash-fried and featuring a spiced breading.
Are you one of the people that like it raw? – Ordered a small meat lovers (stuffed) & spinach garlic bread. Phone guy could use a litte cheering up. Delivery guy was here within the hour (that's good). The spinach garlic bread was very good. The small stuffed was big & not bad, but then...we saw the mound of raw sausage at the bottom (we're talking a little brown on the surface and pink to red everywhere else). We called the manager to mention it & he says, "Well...it's supposed to be like that...that's how people like it." OMG...we were speechless. The pizza was still okay (after we took out the sausage and cooked it), but after tonight we're not spending our money there again nor recommending it.
Good pizza, when it finally gets there – Let me got the pizza out of the way: it's great. I'm a fan of the stuffed spinach, which is done just like a Chicago-style pizza should be. It's exactly what you're thinking of when you think of Chicao pizza, really. NOW, for the caveat. Delivery STINKS. Horribly. I've had bad experiences twice, and after the last time, I will not order there again. Takes forever, so disorganized, and when I called back (several times) to track when I could expect my pizza, the lady finally stopped answering. I finally talked to some poor waitress who had no idea what was going on. After more than an hour and a half (and the phone runaround) I got a tepid pizza from a delivery guy who only spoke enough English to complain about the tip I gave him. Maybe if you eat in, or live close enough to pick up your pizza...
