A doctor with a big heart – It's so refreshing to find a good doctor that's also easy to talk to. I've had many experiences where I had to trade one for the other. Dr. Lain has an incredible sensitivity to people's needs - both medically and personally.
Going to the doctor has often be awkward when it comes to discussing very personal issues. I've often chosen female doctors in hopes of finding a bit more compassion about female issues - and I have lots of them! Dr. Lain has always made me feel perfectly at ease discussing things I thought would seem 'odd' or 'quirky'. He listens to me with sincerity and has come up with answers to issues my other doctors could not.
I trust him with my whole family for good advice and compassionate care.
We appreciate your comments! Here at Steiner ranch Dermatology we are qualified to provide dermatological care to men, women, children, babies/infants and the elderly. Our compassionate approach to medical and cosmetic care is what we strive to provide to all of our patients.
Finally-A Great, Full-Service Dermatology Practice – I've been so impressed with Dr Lain's dermatology practice that I feel compelled to post about it! I first took my kids to see Dr Lain a few years ago for a rash and he was so calming and gentle with them. He diagnosed and treated what my pediatrician could not! I've since used his practice as my go-to-place for skin care, laser hair removal and facials. It's so nice to have a great doctor and full-service derm practice so close to home! I have recommended Dr Lain to countless friends....so I hope this helps all of you who need derm care!
Dr. Lain is AWESOME! – Not only is Dr. Lain a great dermatologist but he is a caring and concerned physician and person as well. He answered my questions, taking extra time to make sure I fully understood my condition and my treatment options. He relieved my concerns and made my visit a pleasant experience. I highly recommend Dr. Lain!
Great advice, totally satisfied – I finally hit 30 a while ago and have started losing my hair at the hairline. I have friends with the same problem (some worse than others), but I ignored it because I didn't think much could be done. The genes in my family do not bode well for me. My girlfriend disagreed with my opinion and insisted I see someone. I certainly would like to keep my hair, and if a doctor could help, I decided to give it a try. Dr. Lain gave me several options and I decided on a daily treatment program. The treatment has worked and no more hair loss has taken place.
Dr. Lain was friendly and professional, and I felt comfortable discussing my issues with him. Other men who are losing their hair should give it a try. There are several options to choose from - it's just a matter of picking the one that's right for you.
Thank you for this comment! You're right - there are options for men loosing their hair and we here at Steiner Ranch Dermatology are experienced in treating hair loss caused by various issues. We're so pleased that you are happy with the results and know that sometimes just keeping the hair that you have and avoiding additional loss is something that both men and women seek help with.
A great Doctor!! – I am 75 years old. I needed a little tweek to make my face look fresh. Although I live in Sugar Land, Texas I wanted to be sure that the Doctor I used was the BEST!
After much research I chose Dr. Edward Lane in Austin. His reputation is that he is "the best there is".
First of all I loved his staff. They were knowledgable and oh so friendly. I already felt good but then I met Dr. Lain who treated me as an old friend. I love the work that he did. I have been so pleased that I have driven back to Austin for additional treatments. I absolutely will go again when it is time for me to be "upgraded".
I highly recommend Dr. Lain to all I know and have friends who have chosen to use his services also. We are all thrilled with the way we look.
We're so honored that you make the trip from Sugar Land to Steiner Ranch Dermatology for Dr. Lain's services and truly appreciate you!
Awesome Practice – I went to see Dr. Lain for a well skin check and I was very impressed with him and his entire office staff. Dr. Lain was very informative and professional. He took the time to explain what I should be watching for on my own. This was a very pleasant experience and I would recommend this practice to anyone looking for a great dermatologist.
Best Dermatologist – Steiner Ranch Dermatology is Awesome! I've recently decided to do something about my skin (40 years old and dealing with acne, wrinkles and sun damage). I knew I wanted to do some cosmetic procedures but wanted to be advised by a dermatologist and not an aesthetician. My mother always said "go to the best doctor you can".... so I started asking around and a friend (a medical doctor) told me about Dr. Lain. I met with Dr. Lain and he told me what products I should be using on my skin, and what cosmetic procedures he would recommend for my skin. There was no pressure to buy his line of skin care products (he told me what genetic ingredient to look for in store bought items) I went ahead and did buy some of his products and now I can't live without my Melashade (the best sunscreen ever!!) I would recommend this tinted sunscreen to everyone. It's silky smooth and because it's tinted it evens out your complexion. I don't wear a lot of makeup (I never wear foundation) but this sunscreen evens out my complexion...it's awesome! I live in central Austin and usually stay in my " central bubble" for all needs but I make the trip to Steiner Ranch Dermatology for great service from Dr. Lain and his knowledgeable staff.
Great Dermatologist – Steiner Ranch Dermatology is a great place for all of your skin care needs. Scheduling an appointment was easy, and the staff was helpful and kind. Dr. Lain is very knowledgeable and professional, and I will definitely return to his office for future appointments for myself and my family.
Thank you for trusting us for all your family's skin care needs! We are pleased to provide Austin with what we believe are the best dermatology services.
Great for Medical and Cosmetic Derm – My family has used Dr. Lain's services at Steiner Ranch Dermatology for years and have received great care. It's a recent visit with my son that prompted me to write this review. My son had to have a wart removed from the bottom of his foot and was terrified. Even after much coaxing, bribing and a phone call with dad he still wouldn't let Dr. Lain take care of it. The office had already closed at this point and Dr. Lain had already spent considerable time with us. Dr. Lain was very patient and explained that we could put some numbing lotion on his foot the next morning and bring him back in again the next afternoon for the procedure. Everything went off perfectly the next afternoon. I so appreciated his patience and understanding (and even though we took up 2 appt slots, we were only charged for one).
I also use Steiner Ranch Dermatology's services for my personal cosmetic procedures including the facials which I love. I had been lured to one of those "med spa" type places by a girlfriend to try Botox. My first clue that it wasn't going to go well should have been the glass of wine they offered me. Needless to say they used way too much and didn't put it in evenly. Since then I have trusted Dr. Lain and am extremely pleased with the results. I feel so much more confident putting my face in the hands of a trained doctor.
Thank you for writing this review and noting that we here at Steiner Ranch Dermatology are a full service dermatology practice, helping with children's skin issues as well as adult's medical and cosmetic concerns. What makes our practice special is our ability to care for the skin of babies, children and adults.
Will never return.... – Went in early 2009 for a regular mole, skin check. One of the 4 biopsies came back as needing more margin. Dr. got on phone. Did not provide any details of what type of concern it was other than abnormal. I inquired that a larger margin was needed.
Note that the mole was not cancerous nor was it precancerous. It was a displastic spitz nevi, of which I was never told (I found this out from my new dermotologist who told me this year so they could figure out my history since I gave them permission to get records from SR).
I left the office with what I thought would be a simple expended biopsy with a few stitches to a very disfiguring 2.5 inch jagged, cratered incision on the bicep of my right arm.
The other staff is good, the care is good. The doctor needed to provide me many more details instead of hacking so deeply into my arm without me clearly not knowing the depth of it.
Patient - beware. Ask a million questions about what to expect incision-wise. What are your risks? What is the lab results and what does it mean? Do not go as if the doctor has told you all you need to know because, honestly, he didn't.
I wish I knew and I certainly wish I had a choice. I would have employed a plastic surgeon had I known. I"m not that vain, I don't have a whole lot to brag about beauty-wise, but as an athlete who wears sleeveless tops, the arm is just very ugly. I regret having not handled this better and I actually regret having had it excised in this manner by this soft-spoken, well-educated gentleman.
There was a failure to effectively communicate in this situation, and we apologize. The physician, not the assistant, calls all patients with all biopsy results, mainly because patients have a right to talk with their doctor directly about their care, and also to avoid miscommunication. "Dysplastic" means "abnormal", but does not necessarily mean cancerous or precancerous. However, some dysplastic moles do require complete removal, or excision, after the biopsy, depending on the level of abnormality noted by the pathologist in the biopsy report. We strive to provide the best care, and while the care this patient received was in the best interest of the patient (to remove an abnormal mole completely), we failed to make sure the patient understood all facets of the diagnosis and treatment. Feedback such as this is appreciated, as it will make this office even more responsive to our patients, and make us even more proactive in patient education.
