I didn't know there was a location right by the Metreon but came out of the theater and saw it. You can grab a coffee or hot chocolate from the place next door, sit outside in the sun, and forget about saving room for lunch while you eat cream puffs made to order and sip espresso.
Feels like heaven. Creampuffs to die for! – Oh with your soooo crispy golden puffs and your oh soooo creamy vanilla cream fillings!! Talk about truth in advertising!! They claim to be the best cream puffs in the world!!! And you know what dang it they are!!!! If you haven't tried them out, you are totally missing out.
A second SF destination for a cult cream-puff fix. – In Short
These large, addictive cream puffs--famous in Japan, where they originated, and more recently New York--have been a hit locally since their first storefront opened near Yerba Buena Gardens in early 2006. This second location in the high-end food court of the Westfield Shopping Centre features the same, fresh Madagascar vanilla cream custard wrapped in a puff that's part choux pastry, part pie crust--along with the same long lines of devoted fans.
The cream puffs are incredible! – They have a branch in the food court at the new Westfield Mall on Market Street and I tried one for the first time. It is to die for! For $1.75, you get a baseball size cream puff. The exterior is very firm, like a Boudin bread ball which I thought was a little harder and crunchier than the fluffy dough-puffs you'd expect. But inside was this delightfully creamy vanilla custard and they're generously filled. I could've eaten 3 or more of them alone but had to share this one. They also have a chocolate filled one and eclair type. I can't wait to go try the others ones in the near future.
good but don't get the frenzied hype – the popovers are good, light and airy. my chocolate was a little too filled. That said, I don't understand why people wait in line for them. I wouldn't invest my money in the idea...
