Flat-out love everything on the menu. The starters are sensational, the pizza is so satisfying. Combine that with polished service and a fun feel in the dining room -- shared seating -- and it's a winner! There's also a super duper happy hour between 3 and 5 on weekdays, when smaller versions of the flavor-packed pies are $6.
They aren't kidding...these are some serious pies. Pizzas that come topped with yukon gold potatoes or penn cove clams are just a couple of tasty pies that get served out of the wood fired ovens in this cozy downtown pizza joint. You'll find the makings for a classic pie here as well. Grab a mini pie at Happy Hour for just 6 bucks.
This pint sized pizza joint is part of the Tom Douglas empire and I contend one of his better restaurants even though you can dine here for a fraction of the price of a meal at Dahlia. Fresh and delightful pizzas, salads and a cold beer are the reason to visit.
Go-to greens (this salad is a crowd favorite!): Marinated lacinato kale, chillies, pine nuts.
Casual Tom – I love TD's restaurants and this one is no exception. Casual and upscale environment - nice but super loud and hard to have a conversation. Needs a couple more pizza options on the menu but the special the day I was in included a basil/prosciutto option and it was amazing - this one should be added as an item on the regular menu. The crust is not authentic (like Via Trib on Cap Hill) but tasty! Fun for lunch.
Gourmet pizza at it's best – No it's not Pagliacci's, Zeek's, Belltown Pizza or Romio's. It's GOURMET... So if you're looking for the classical pizza experience here, you will be disappointed. Ask yourself, is one suppose to drink a fine red wine with ordinary pizza? I would think not, but at Serious Pie expect the extraordinary. Great rustic atmosphere, cozy surroundings, and friendly staff.
As for the gourmet pie, fresh ingredients, thin light crust, nice balance of flavor and wonderful presentation. My wife had the mozzarella with basil and I had the only pizza with meat on it and it was sweet fennel sausage. Tom Douglas should revisit the menu to provide at least two more gourmet pies with meat on them though. The pies won't fill you up, which is fine for those watching their weight and carb intake, but satisfying enough to walk away not feeling guilty either.
Belltown/Downtown are known for it's fine dining and great wine. This is a welcomed addition to the neighborhood.
Excellent gourmet pizza – Excellent pizza and the best crust I've ever had. According to the waitor the crust takes 24 hours to prepare. I usually never eat pizza crust but this crust is outstanding. Apparently the crust is made with semolina flour, typically used in pasta. We've sampled a couple of other wood-fired pizza places lately and haven't been very happy with them but we love Serious pie. The pizzas are pretty much personal size and plenty for a hungry person..
Fabulous Lunch Spot..... – The thin crust pizzas at Serious Pie are to die for!!! Using the highest quality ingredients makes a huge difference in the taste and really sets them apart from the others. The Wild Mushroom Pizza with Truffle Cheese is absolutely incredible. Definitely worth every cent!
Interesting and delicious pizza - - seriously! – I visited Serious Pie for the first time on Sunday evening. The service was quick and friendly and the pizza was really delicious. Perfect crust - - not too thin, not too thick. It was a little strange (in Seattle) to share a 6 person table with two other couples, but, it turned out to be a fun and cozy dining experience. Though small, Serious Pie has a great atmosphere.
Yummy wood-fired thin crust pizza and good house wine – The pizzas are thin crust so don't expect to split just one w/ more than 2 people. It's a great place to go with one other person - split two pizzas (you'll most likely have leftovers for both of you) and get a carafe or 1/2 carafe of the house wine. At $15 for a full carafe, it's a great deal. Yes, you pay a bit more than "average" for the pizzas, but they do use the best quality ingredients. Try the clam pizza - everyone I know who has tried it has absolutely loved it - even those people who aren't big clam fans!
Tasty but expensive – Small but pleasant space. There are a handful of pizzas to choose from. It's evident that they are using really good ingredients. The foraged mushroom pizza w/ truffle cheese was delicious but at $15 was pricey and not large enough to share but too big for 1 to eat alone. We also tried the sausage & pepper pizza which was also good. The cannoli for dessert was just ok---wouldn't recommend it. The service was cheerful & pleasant. Overall, a good experience but pricey for what you get.
Taste Sensation – Serious Pie has great Pizza with unique toppings. If you don't mind spending a few extra dollars for a single serving pizza, this is the pizzeria for you. They do offer a wonderful Chianti for 15$ a carafe, which is very reasonable for wine. It has a great atmosphere (very comfortable), great service (very friendly) and great food (delicious). If you?re a finicky eater or your date, spouse or partner is and you?re looking for a good cheese pizza, go somewhere else. Serious Pie is for the person looking for a great taste sensation. I went on a Monday which was fairly busy so beware Friday and Saturday you might be waiting, which they do have a sitting area but small. I will go back.
mellow atmosphere, good za! – random comment that i wouldnt normally open with....those high back chairs are comfortable! i guess if you are comfortable, you can enjoy your meal.
the menu was small, but the choices were well thought out and eminently edible. the meatballs were great (order two!) and beets were top notch. we ordered three apps and three pizzas for four people which was just about right. it's not too loud - and has a dark vibe not normally found at a pizza place.
waiting for a table at Lola is a great call. especially if you grab a table in the cool lobby at the Hotel Andra where there is wait service as well.
Pie? Gimme a break.. – To call this a pizza restaurant is absurd. Now I love thin crust pizza but what Tom Douglas is offering here is more like fancy flat bread and expensive flat bread at that. There was two of us dining and due to the size of the "pizza" we had to order two, the problem with that was that with an extremely limited menu (only 5 pizzas) it was hard to find two pizzas that appealed to both of us. My recomendation would be if you are looking for pizza this is not the place for you, but if your looking for a light snack it could be great.
