The best hair salon – I?ve been going to Jessica for 5 years and not only is she an amazing stylist but she?s also the best colorist I have ever been to. I do not trust anyone else with my hair. She also always puts the health of my hair first which I believe is a rare but amazing trait to find in a stylist.
If you want a new stylish look or just a trim Jessica is the lady who will keep your hair beautiful and healthy.
Hair + Art = Legendary – The Experience you receive at The Gilt Edge is none other than Exceptional. I can't commend the people who work there enough. Jessica cuts and colors my hair(although you aren't suppose to know that- but believe that it's naturally this dark...) The shop is inviting, colorful and there is a strong sense of camaraderie among the team which usually leads to fun discussions (something that is a theme in some of the best barber shops in the world- ie. the movie "Barber Shop." Duh.). I go for amazing hair- but leave feeling great that I know these wonderful, artistic and genuine people.
I would also highly recommend The Gilt Edge Society to the Seattleite who wants to support and sustain the local art and culture scene of Seattle and beyond. The shop is an active member in the art scene-they sacrifice their walls to display it. Go to one of their art shows or get your hair did and see for yourself!
The Combination of the exceptional service and atmosphere makes this place unique and legendary. Thank you guys!
A remarkable artist – I have been seeing Glenn Gustavik, a very talented stylist/owner every three weeks for over 6 years. He is the first stylist I have ever had that I can give total design and color control to. He is a top notch person who gets to know his clients. By knowing them, he understands their likes and is able to combine the clients style with his artistic ability.
Many friends and co-workers have started going to Glenn as a result of seeing my hair.
If you want a talented and artistic stylist, I would highly recommend Glenn. I would suggest making your appointment in advance, as the word is getting out.
Glenn makes me beautiful! – Glenn is the man who made me LOVE to get my haircut! Everytime i leave his salon, i always feel so good. After so many bad haircuts, i started to believe there was no hope until i met the ever so wonderfully talented Mr. Gustafik! Now i can walk in and have complete trust that when i leave, my hair will feel and look FABULOUS! I have gotten so many people asking me all over the city where i get my hair done. I would reccomend anyone and everyone who has gotten a bad haircut. Glenn will change your mind...and your hair for that matter. The salon's relaxing atmosphere and ever changing artistic interior makes this salon unlike any other in the city!
Glenn is a master at extensions! – I don't know what I would do if Glenn ever left Seattle! I have very fine hair and could never have the long hairstyle I always wanted. Until I met Glenn! He put extensions in which gave me not only length but the thickness and volume I always longed for. He uses the Great Lengths system which are individual bonds of varying sizes that do not damage your hair. I have had them for almost 3 years now and my own hair is in great shape. After he did my extensions a couple of times I had him color and cut my hair and I was thrilled. I often want to change my color and length and Glenn is always honest with me and helps me to figure out what will and won't work for my coloring and face shape. He is also up to date and knowledgable about the latest trends and products. I trust Glenn with my hair wholeheartedly and I highly recommend him to everyone.
Not only is Glenn a master at hair but he is sweet, charming and fun to talk to. My kids even like to come with me when I get my hair done so they can see Glenn and play with the pinball machine!
The salon has a laidback and funky vibe and everyone that works there is friendly and welcoming. There is also free parking!!
Talent and Personality! – The Gilt Edge is cutting edge in terms of the talented stylists and the playful, always changing art gallery decor. Glenn, one of the stylist/owners, is extremely skilled with cut and color as well as being an extremely nice guy. He knows how to keep aging Baby Boomers like myself and my husband looking trendy but not too over the top. The owners support local artists by exhibiting their work, which makes for a unique environment each time we come in.
great haircuts, friendly sevice, great ambience. Located in Bell town near restaurants and downtown.
Glenn cuts men's hair too. And does a damn fine job at it! – Glenn has been my girlfriends stylist for many years. She has followed him when he moved salons and would probably move to a different city if he moved, which I hope he never does.
After seeing how the general public responded to my girlfriends hair which Stylist/Owner Glenn Gustafik cuts, I made the switch to Glenn a couple of years ago.
I have not had any regrets about the switch from the 7 Salon to Glenn Gustafik. I actually got carded for the first time in years after getting my hair cut by Glenn. He made me look great and younger, what a combination.
The salon is really nice and comfortable. I never find myself bored if I am early for my appointment. I know I can keep myself busy playing pinball, or reading a mens magazine while sipping on a complimentary coffee or bottled water.
I whole-heartedly recommend Glenn to my friends and family, and to you also.
Did I mention the free parking? Just ask about it when you book your appointment. You wont be disappointed.
banish thy fear.. gilt edge to the rescue! – Banish your fear of the scissors at Seattles newest gem, the Gilt Edge Society. Owner and stylist, Glenn Gustavik brings back the art to hair cutting. Located in the heart of belltown in downtown Seattle, the salon evokes a sense of new romantic mixed with modern aesthetics. Victorian furniture and chandeliers are juxtaposed by stripped walls of graffiti art. Two cruiser bikes parked outside the building await to escort fresh flowers from the market. Youll never have to wait, but if you have the inkling there is an old pin ball machine waiting to escort you back to 1984. To have your hair cut by Glenn, one must appreciate the true art of hair cutting. Glenn has an amazing eye and ability to design a haircut that will best compliment your face, lifestyle, and yet have the ease of everyday low maintenance. You will never walk out of the salon with a style that you cant recreate at home. And you will never pay for a service or get pushed to buy products that will break your pocketbook. I always feel secure walking in and letting Glenn have artistic license. Although Im not afraid of taking inches off my hair, Ive noticed through other clients that he also has the amazing ability to shape and cut without looking like hes taken any length off. One of my closest friends gets her hair cut at the salon nearly every 4-6 weeks and her hair has appears to have grown like wildfire. Regardless of your age, style, or facial features you will be more than satisfied with your new look. You will become a loyal customer and friend. His other two stylists, Jessica and Steven are talents themselves. Both bring the same sense of edginess yet with a modern livability. Their ability to mix trends with a classical appeal and timelessness is uncanny. Hair cutting becomes sculptural and i was even chased around the streets of New York City for my hair cut. I told Glenn next time Im traveling, Im wearing my racing flats. ;)
A Hairstylist you can trust! – This is my second haircut from Glen, one of two of the shop's owners. I came to T.G.E.S. after poor service (rude, inconsiderate, overbooked) at another salon and this was just the place I'd been hoping for! The vibe: funky-cool-hip-vintage and definitely unpretentious. "Thanks god", as my mother says. The price: moderately expensive, but more than affordable for a very experienced stylist who genuinely listens and cuts with confidence, and for what it's worth, I'm a low maintainance gal who's pushing 40 but I still want to look good at the office without using 50 products to pull it off. What you will leave with: great smelling hair (ask for the geranium oil), a cut that fits who you are, and the feeling that you were the special client of the day. Do not be intimidated by what may at first look like a place for the Capitol Hill crowd only! The staff is warm and welcoming from the moment you walk in and you won't feel out of place once you sit in the stylist's chair.
