Bringing the central Austin coffeehouse feel to the north side, Genuine Joe provides a warm, inviting atmosphere fit for working or lounging.
Parts of Anderson Road are slightly bland, but it's like weird/funky/78704 Austin kindly dropped this adorable little bungalow coffee shop right into its center. Genuine Joe's has an open "living room" area that's slightly more active, with a private room that can be reserved for meetings, as well as a sunken space in the back that's quiet and generally too crowded. It's my favorite one for banging out work.
the cutest coffeeshop ever! – I was super excited when this coffee shop first opened right when I had just moved to Hardy Drive two summers ago. It was about a one-minute walk to Genuine Joe's from my house. The staff were always really down to earth, the customers seemed pretty chill, and the coffee concoctions are pretty interesting and yummy. It's a real house that they turned into a coffee shop, so you kind of feel like you're at your aunt's house or something. I like the patio out front; it's a great place to meet someone for a date. I'm sad that I moved, but I'm only about a 10-minute drive away now.
Nice place but don't order the drip coffee – Excellent atmosphere. Friendly owners and service. Drip coffee does not compete with Andersons or Starbuck's and is not hot enough.
Order an espressos drink and slump down in the sofa with the newspaper.
Good stuff!!! – I really like this coffee shop. The owner is the guy behind the counter, making your drinks and fulfilling his dream. The bakery goods are from Russell's (awesome!) and the coffee is roasted in the Hill Country. I'm a coffee snob and I truly have enjoyed every drink I get there. So, if you're on Anderson Ln, stop in and enjoy a cup!
it's okay – I came here to study and it was okay. I sat next to some really loud people. The coffee was nothing out of the ordinary, but the ambience was really austin-y and cool.
Retro and metro happily co-exist at this friendly coffeehouse perfect for communing with a laptop, business meetings or lively discourse. – In Short
Sage green and cream walls and large windows frame dark, hardwood floors to provide a cozy counterpoint to bustling Anderson Lane. This stone house-turned-coffee house features the Board Room in the front with two comfy sofas that can be reserved for meetings. In the main room, tables and chairs, deep sofas and counters and stools, along with ample plug-ins for electronics, allow patrons to enjoy espressos, chais and steamers with their scones and sandwiches.
