Great Selection – great selection of clothing at reasonable prices. the employees were very helpful and the owner was a joy to get to converse with. they get new shipments in each week so there is always new merchandise for just about anyone with a vintage eye.

Alteration were horrible. – I love vintage stores. I've been shopping in them for years. You can almost always find an original unique dress, top or shoes. I found a dress I liked at Cream but it had a hole in the material at the bottom and I wanted it hemmed to my knees any way. So I purchased the dress, had the new hem line measured and went on my merry way very excited about my purchase. When I picked up the dress I was horrified. The material is a very light fabric and the original hem was probably an inch maybe an inch and a half. The new hem was tiny and when I tried the dress on it fold over from the inside and had a pucker-wavy certainly not the way it was or should look. Beside that the stitching was uneven all the way around. It sucked. I point it out to the alterer and she said it just needed to be pressed. I pressed it when I got home and that definitely is not the problem. The problem is the fabric is too light for such a tiny hem. Now I can either adjust the hem and the dress will be shorter than I want it or I can leave it as it is and have the hem showing. Likely I'll never even wear the dress and in six months it'll go to Good Will. My advise, if you shop at this store definitely don't have them alter your garment. Or don't pay before you see the altered garment, the shop has No Refunds and No Exchanges. Go figure. This was my first and last time at that store.

Cream Rules. – I think Cream Vintage is one of the best vintage clothing stores in town. Every week i go in a find something new, you just have to ask what they got that week. The prices are great and everyone working there is super cool. Ive seen some of the coolest shows there and they are always fun and under the radar. The south 1st location is really cool also.

dullsville – cream vintage has the opportunity to be a good vintage store in austin, but i have a few complaints about where they are now. it seems there is never any attention payed to the appearance of the store. i know it's on the drag, and it's supposed to be "funky", but it just looks rather trashy. the inside of the store is jam packed with an array of over priced lame vintage finds. i would rather go to feathers and pay more for a gorgeous real vintage piece that seems special in a store that excludes bad clothing than dig around at cream for that one good piece at the same price. if i wanted to do that, dig, i would go to saver's. also, it seems like they have new items once a month rather than once a week... this is very sad. vintage shoppers expect new and exciting things often at a vintage store.

i wonder about their claims of music events... it seems that only happens during SXSW, and everyone in austin has a band at their store during that.

the one good thing, the alterations. the seamstresses are sweet and detail oriented.

overall i suggest not wasting your time at cream, there is better, and classier vintage to be had in austin.

This West Campus clothing emporium brings chic vintage to students wandering the Drag. – In Short
Cream sits on prime real estate. Known as the Drag, this trendy shopping strip doubles as the western border of the University of Texas campus and is constantly buzzing with foot traffic. Cream's ruby red facade and sidewalk sale racks draw these shoppers to the cool, effortless garb, like catchy tees and pearl snap shirts. The in-house alteration service makes sure everything is a perfect fit and boots, belt buckles and handbags add finishing touches.
