Excellent Sushi and Four Seasons Roll is a MUST – We were on business from out of state and I read the reviews on here and decided to go with my team. This might have been the best sushi I have ever had. We had team member that have never tried sushi before and based on the reviews here, we tried the four seasons roll and they LOVED IT. Presentation was awesome and the food was very good. Few people ordered the Salmon entree and Chicken Terryaki and loved it....the Four Seaons roll is a MUST as well as the California crunch roll. 5 stars all the way.

Huge Disappointment – Entering the restaurant, we thought we were in for a real Japanese sushi treat. Having lived in Yokohama for 3 years, we have been looking for a place that serves real Japanese food and atmosphere. We were greeted by the traditional Japanese saying "irashaimase" roughly translated as Welcome. Sadly, that was the one and only resemblance to anything Japanese for the rest of the evening.

The place is nice and clean, and has a decent variety of traditional Japanese Sushi and other foods such as Sukiyaki and Shabu-Shabu. After ordering our drinks, Sapporo and Asahi beer, (brewed in the US) we ordered various types of sushi and a house roll. Our complementary edamame which was refrigerator cold and not flavorful, a bad sign of things to come.

The Sake (salmon) was the best of the fish. The Toro (which was supposed to have been fatty tuna, and wasn't) was of average taste and poorly cut. My favorite sashimi is Aji and I was pleased that they had it on the menu. Wow, was I disappointed. I ended up putting the first piece back into the napkin after chewing on it for a while. The Aji must have been a week old, and the chef (Not Japanese) had obviously attempted to hide it's age with vinegar. This seems to be a common theme as the sushi rice itself was heavily doused with vinegar as well. The Hamachi was passable, so I would rate it as the second best of the meal.

We ordered a house speciality, Crazy Monkey roll, which was listed as a spicy tuna roll wrapped in Hamachi. This spicy tuna 'salad' was so laced with a non-Japanese spice that we could barely taste anything else. It was so bad that we just ate the Hamachi off the top, sashimi style, and threw the rest away.

The restaurant has a minimal selection of average Saki, and the locals here seem to prefer a Kyushu style sake brewed in Berkeley (of all places) the most. The staff was pleasant, but not enough to overcome such poor quality food and drink.

Great Place to enjoy the best sushi around! – The atmosphere is great and the service is excellent. The owner, chefs, and servers are excellent. The sushi is excellent and is the best around. The Scott's special is my favorite, but the Four Seasons is a must order as well. The presentation is great and the people there are always so friendly. If you don't like fish or sushi, this is still a great place to go as they have several items that you can order. I would suggest going in there to try it out. I guarentee you will love it! Enjoy!

To the other review, you should probably freshen up on your english and articulate skills before you dare review a restaurant. Also you should really learn more about cooking before you criticize a professional's cooking, seeing as you stated yourself that you are a poor cook. The rice is great. Rice is probably one of the hardest things to get wrong, seeing as it has 3 ingredients to make. The quality of the fish here is far superior to other sushi bars in the area. The design and presentation is amazing as well. The personality of the employees and the owner, Desmond, makes this place even more of a gem. Two thumbs up!

My rating on Japanese food is pretty harsh, since I am very fussy about Japanese food. – I am a Japanese food fanatic, and am vrey fussy about my food. So I apologize in advance if I had rated the food harshly. Maybe you might have different opinions about it. Ok here goes my opinion of this place.

Firstly, I have not sit in the restaurant itself, so I can't review on the atmosphere.

This is a new restaurant in San Ramon, so of course the place looks very new.

I had take out food, some sushis and noodles.

Freshness of fish on the sushi is ok, but the sushi rice is made very badly. The taste of the sushi rice is bad, and the shape is awful. The worst-looking sushi I had ever seen. The sake (salmon) is ok, but the saba does not taste good.

The nabe udon is the worst, the udon is chewy, soggy and does not taste fresh. The taste of the soup is plain, I can make better home cooked udon than them (despite the fact that I am a bad cook). You get 1 piece of ebi tempura, but i can cook better fried batter. But anyway the ebi tempura tastes ok.

The taste of the fried udon (I don't know the name of this fried udon in the menu) is ok. Tastes like chinese cooking. The udon is also soggy, just like the noodle of the nabe udon. But the fried udon is way better than the nabe udon.

The miso soup that comes with the meal - tastes like miso prepared in sachets sold in grocery stores.

The edamame - edamame tastes all the same anyway.

The only thing that I like about the food in Itto is: the salad that comes with the meal, to be more specific is the salad dressing.

Great new sushi place – Last weekend my friend took me to Itto Sushi. I had the Four Season roll and highly recommend it. Service and atmosphere were great.
